Xia Xingcheng took a simple shower. The heat and moisture evaporated the alcohol in his body, and his stomach hollowed up again, the pain growing increasingly difficult to bear.
He practically almost had to climb out of the bathtub. Taking down the bathrobe that hung on a clothes hook, as he was about to put it on, he suddenly remembered that he didn’t even have a change of underwear.
Walking over to the pile of clothes on the floor that he had taken off earlier, he picked up his underwear, only to find that they were completely drenched. The feeling of wet underwear on his body before was so unpleasant that he could still recall it up til now, thus he simply gave up and wrapped the towel tighter around himself as he walked out of the bathroom.
A moment ago, he had rushed in too hastily, and it was only now that Xia Xingcheng discovered that the villa’s interior was actually not that spacious. The first floor contained a living room, and the second floor had an open plan bedroom with what seemed to be a lone queen-sized bed.
At this time, Yang Youming was sitting on the sofa in the first floor living room, his face expressionless. The door that was wide open when he’d charged in just a moment ago was now closed.
He didn’t know whether it was because he had swam in cold water, but compared to when his head spun from intoxication, his current state was even more severe—Xia Xingcheng felt like he was about to collapse.
He walked to the back of the sofa opposite Yang Youming and softly called out, “Ming ge.”
As soon as his voice fell, roars of raucous laughter resounded from the poolside outside the room. Xia Xingcheng heard Qin Xueyue shout his name immediately after, her tone sounding extremely pissed.
He raised his head to take a look outside, and subconsciously took a step in that direction.
Consequently, Yang Youming immediately said, “Don’t go.” His voice was soft and hushed, yet his bearing wasn’t gentle, so much so that it was as if it was an order.
Xia Xingcheng stared at him.
Yang Youming was still sitting on the soft sofa, his eyes calm and unwavering, and as Xia Xingcheng looked at him, he met Xia Xingcheng’s eyes head on.
Their eyes locked until Xia Xingcheng couldn’t help but turn away first, saying, “My clothes are back in my hotel room, I don’t even have a change of underwear.”
Yang Youming said, “Don’t go now.”
Xia Xingcheng slightly hesitated before walking around the sofa, then sat down facing Yang Youming. He didn’t want to appear self-conscious, but he wasn’t wearing any underwear under his bathrobe, so he could only pull his legs together.
He was not at all aware that, at present, his face had an unnatural flush that ran all the way down to his neck, which was a pale pink.
Yang Youming watched him in silence.
Xia Xingcheng stared at the wooden coffee table in front of him and said, “I’ll go back later, when they’re all gone.”
After he uttered these words, Yang Youming was slow to respond. He felt somewhat helpless. When he raised his head to look at Yang Youming, he heard the man say, “Sleep here tonight, okay?”
Xia Xingcheng was dumbfounded.
Yang Youming picked up the phone on the table and glanced at the time. “It’s already past midnight.”
The ruckus outside didn’t mean to end at all.
Xia Xingcheng couldn’t think. It was like his head was momentarily empty, yet also like there were too many things in disarray—he was only aware of the fact that Yang Youming was making him stay here. He didn’t ponder over whether Yang Youming would let him sleep on the bed or on the sofa, nor did he think about whether Yang Youming would change rooms if Xia Xingcheng slept in his villa.
He just couldn’t—and didn’t—want to refuse Yang Youming. He nodded in a daze and said, “Okay.”
Yang Youming stood up from the sofa. His shirt tails were already untucked, and they were slightly wrinkled, yet it exhibited a different kind of sexiness.
With one hand in his pants pocket, he gazed at Xia Xingcheng who was sitting on the sofa and said, “Go upstairs and rest.”
Xia Xingcheng stood up and followed Yang Youming’s instructions, heading towards the second floor. He had barely set foot on the stairs when he heard a knock on the door. He didn’t know who it was, and he couldn’t see it from this angle either.
Yang Youming apparently went to go and open the door, but soon the door closed once more.
Xia Xingcheng had reached the second floor, only to discover that there was a large balcony connected to the bedroom that directly faced the sea.
The glass door between the bedroom and the balcony was open, and one could feel the sea breeze that carried water and salt, blowing from afar–like a caress. One could also clearly hear the sound of the sea waves, its unceasing rise and fall.
Xia Xingcheng subconsciously approached the balcony.
Right as he stepped onto the balcony, he heard Yang Youming call out to him from behind, “Xingcheng, come here.”
Xia Xingcheng immediately turned back and saw Yang Youming holding a bowl in his hands, standing at the top of the stairs.
He then walked back.
The bowl in Yang Youming’s hands was still piping hot, and there was a small spoon in the bowl. When Xia Xingcheng walked over, he handed the bowl to Xia Xingcheng and said, “I had the hotel send a bowl of pumpkin millet congee, eat it while it’s hot.”
Xia Xingcheng took it and looked down at the bowl for a moment before looking up and saying, “Thank you.”
Yang Youming didn’t say anything, turning around and going straight down the stairs once more.
