"Master He, why is there still no sign of my sister and Qin Yu? Could we have taken the wrong direction?" On the other side, Mo Yongxing, who was still walking upstream, suddenly spoke up.
They had been walking along the river in the tunnel for about an hour, holding strong flashlights, but all they could see ahead was more water, with no end in sight and no trace of Mo Yongxin or Qin Yu.
"This shouldn't be the case; usually, we should go upstream!" He Ping also looked puzzled.
"Master Mo, I think Miss Mo and Mr. Qin might have gone downstream," another man in black suddenly said. "Under normal circumstances, people would choose to go upstream, but we overlooked one issue: the depth of the water and Miss Mo's endurance. It's difficult even for us normal men to walk, let alone Miss Mo. Even if they did go upstream, they might have turned downstream after a while when they saw no end."
"You're right. My sister couldn't have kept going in this water for so long; she must have gone downstream." Mo Yongxing slapped his forehead and called for everyone to turn and head downstream.
He Ping hesitated for a moment but ultimately agreed with Mo Yongxing's decision, and the group turned to head downstream again.
"Master Mo, there are footprints here!"
After walking downstream for another hour, Mo Yongxing and his group finally reached the shore where Qin Yu and Mo Yongxin had previously been. Under the strong flashlight, they could see several prominent water-soaked footprints. This discovery lifted everyone's spirits, confirming they were on the right track.
The group hurried further inside and soon found a pile of ashes, the spot where Mo Yongxin and Qin Yu had previously made a fire. A large man in black approached, touched the ashes, and said, "The ashes are still warm; they must have left not long ago."
"Since they haven't gone far, let's speed up and catch up with my sister and Qin Yu." Mo Yongxing's face lit up with joy, but he suddenly noticed He Ping seemed distracted and asked, "Master He, what's wrong?"
"Oh, I'm fine. Let's go; we should be catching up with Miss Mo and the others soon." He Ping paused for a moment and then came back to his senses.
"Is someone lying on the ground ahead?"
Not long after, Mo Yongxing and his group reached the Nine Stars and Three Talents Array and saw Li Long's body.
"How could it be Li Long? Didn't he fall into the Yellow Spring water? Why is he here?" As they approached, they realized the body on the ground was Li Long, puzzled and confused, except for He Ping, whose eyes flashed with a hint of something.
"Master Mo, Miss Mo is ahead." Just as Mo Yongxing was puzzled, a bodyguard shone his flashlight around and spotted Mo Yongxin lying on the ground, shouting.
"My sister? Is it really her?"
Mo Yongxing quickly walked over, lifted Mo Yongxin from the ground, and exclaimed, "Sister, what happened? Wake up!" But no matter how he called, Mo Yongxin remained unconscious.
"Master He, take a look. What's wrong with my sister? Why is she unconscious?" In a panic, Mo Yongxing turned to He Ping for help.
"Nothing serious. Miss Mo was knocked unconscious. Pinching her philtrum should wake her up," He Ping said after examining the back of Mo Yongxin's neck.
"Knocked unconscious? Who did this to my sister? And why is she alone? Where is Qin Yu?" Mo Yongxing only now remembered that Qin Yu was missing.
"Let's split up and search the area."
He Ping then walked toward the inner altar, his face showing excitement, but when he reached the altar, he found it empty. His expression darkened, and he searched the area around the altar but found nothing.
"Sister, you're awake. What happened? Who knocked you out, and where is Qin Yu?" Mo Yongxing pinched Mo Yongxin's philtrum, and she soon regained consciousness. He asked with relief.
"I was knocked out?" Mo Yongxin slowly came to, her eyes still dazed. After a while, her vision cleared, and she rubbed her sore neck, murmuring, "I remember running into the Three Talents Array with Qin Yu, and then it seemed like..."
Mo Yongxin gradually recalled the scene, where she had clung to Qin Yu like a wanton woman, even biting his ear, and he had knocked her out.
Her cheeks flushed red as she thought about her actions, feeling ashamed and angry. She had never let a man touch her body, yet she had acted so wantonly, trying to seduce Qin Yu.
"I wonder what he thinks of me." Mo Yongxin thought of Qin Yu's actions and felt a mix of resentment. She was a delicate and beautiful woman, and he had struck her without any consideration.
"Sister, what happened? Who knocked you out, and where is Qin Yu?" Mo Yongxing asked, lowering his voice.
"What happened? Where is Qin Yu?" Mo Yongxin naturally wouldn't tell her brother that she had tried to seduce Qin Yu, and he had remained unmoved, knocking her out.
"I don't know. After we fell into the cave, we walked downstream and found a shore. As we continued, we heard a scream. When we arrived, we found Li Long lying on the ground, his body pierced by something. Qin Yu examined the area and said it was an array, and Li Long must have triggered it, falling victim to a trap."
Mo Yongxin's story was four parts false and six parts true. Since Li Long was dead, He Ping had no way to verify her account, and her main goal was to avoid alerting him. Even if He Ping suspected something, it didn't matter.
"Oh, where did Qin Yu go?"
"I don't know. After Li Long triggered the array, both Qin Yu and I were trapped. I was knocked out by a trap and don't know what happened after that."
Mo Yongxin's statement was true. If Li Long hadn't smashed the jade plate, the Nine Stars and Three Talents Array wouldn't have been triggered, and she and Qin Yu wouldn't have been trapped, nor would she have been knocked out.
After hearing Mo Yongxin's story, He Ping's expression changed, and he said, "In that case, let's expand our search area. Qin Yu might have gone somewhere else."
"Okay."
Meanwhile, the main character of their search, Qin Yu, was still walking on the stone stairs. He mentally calculated that he had walked at least a thousand meters, and with the two upper cave layers, he was now over a thousand meters underground.
The length of the stone stairs and the depth of the tunnel were unimaginable, requiring a massive amount of human and material resources, and it must have been a long-term project.
The torch in Qin Yu's hand was almost out, but the special wood used for burning, processed by the Entropy Clan, burned slowly, allowing it to last this long.
"These stairs are too long," Qin Yu sighed. Could the Entropy Clan people have been bored, digging tunnels just for fun, creating such a long staircase?
Ultimately, the torch couldn't last, and Qin Yu was plunged into darkness again. From the moment he stepped onto the stairs, his path back was sealed, and the tunnel disappeared underground.
