Chapter 33

5 min read1,125 wordsMature

The Great Magic Ape created undead using the bodies of the adventurers. The Great Magic Ape roared as if to say, "What do you think of that?" but when I checked the status of the former adventurers:

So, in the end, is an ape just an ape? Creating weaker undead than your own minions is pointless.

The pleasant surprise is that the skills they had in life seem to remain even after becoming undead. The two undead attacked, but due to their low intelligence, they only came at me with brute force, not using any skills.

I pretended to struggle, taking the time to steal all their skills, then I killed the Skeleton Knight and decapitated the Living Dead. I hoped the remaining adventurers would also turn into undead, but they weren't that foolish and attacked me directly.

"Roar!!"

The Great Magic Ape approached at a speed incomparable to before, trying to bite me. I defended with my left arm's obsidian iron gauntlet, but despite my superior strength and skills, the bite force was incredible, and I was being shaken around.

Creak...

The gauntlet began to make a dull sound. If this continued, it would be crushed, and my arm would be torn off. Meanwhile, the Great Magic Ape kept shaking my arm, and the parts not covered by armor were being torn, leaving me bloodied.

After buying time to steal the skills, I infused my left arm with fire magic. My left arm heated up, and the Great Magic Ape, unable to withstand the heat, backed off.

Clearly, the Great Magic Ape hadn't noticed that its skills had been stolen.

(He didn't expect his skills to be stolen, did he?)

I casually fired a Fireball at the Great Magic Ape, most of which missed the target.

The Great Magic Ape laughed mockingly, apparently mistaking my actions for a sign of confusion from the damage.

I fired another Fireball, and the Great Magic Ape, thinking it had missed again, didn't even look at the direction it was going.

However, this Fireball was different. Normally, it would fly straight, but this time it curved like a curveball in baseball, heading straight for the Great Magic Ape.

"Ah!?"

A few Fireballs hit the slow-reacting Great Magic Ape, but they didn't seem to cause significant damage. Enraged, the Great Magic Ape charged at me, so I fired a Wind Blade. The Great Magic Ape couldn't see magic power and was hit directly by the invisible wind blade.

Confused and shaken, the Great Magic Ape stopped moving, so I fired dozens of Wind Blades. One of them sliced through the Great Magic Ape's eyes.

I closed in quickly and used Sword Technique LV3 "Gale Thunder" to split the Great Magic Ape in two from top to bottom, and it died easily.

After defeating the Great Magic Ape, a treasure chest and two pedestals appeared. Each pedestal had a blue and a red crystal, with the blue one for returning to the surface and the red one for advancing to the next level.

I stripped the monsters of their magic cores and materials. From the Great Magic Ape and the named apes, I obtained complete magic cores of Rank 3 and 4.

I wasn't sure if the skin, fangs, claws, and tail I stripped would sell, but they were particularly high in magic power, so they should be fine.

The adventurers' bodies were severely damaged, and most of their equipment was broken, but I collected what I could.

Item Pouch (Level 6): 2

Steel Dagger (Level 6): 1

Ring of Strength (Level 6): 1

Leather Boots (Level 6): 1

Potion (Level 6): 21

Mana Potion (Level 6): 5

Antidote (Level 6): 7

Gold Coins: 7

Silver Coins: 34

Half Silver Coins: 23

Copper Coins: 31

(I'll make good use of these in your place, so don't worry.)

I cremated the adventurers' bodies with a Fireball in one spot.

After defeating the boss, does a treasure chest always appear? I guess I'll have to do more of these. The treasure chest was unlocked, and inside was a single ring.

Ring of Life (Level 5): +50 HP

(I'm not sure if this is a good or bad draw... maybe I'll equip it on Rena.)

I touched the blue crystal and wished to return to the surface. I felt a brief dizziness and found myself back at the entrance.

"Hey, how was the boss?"

At the entrance, Joseph was waiting and spoke as if he had been waiting impatiently.

"Pretty easy if I go alone."

"Hmm, alone... but you're covered in blood."

"I was dealing with the blood from the monsters and the adventurers who went in before me and were wiped out."

"True, you don't have any injuries."

The injuries were healed with a Heal spell, but I didn't need to reveal that, so I kept quiet. Joseph followed me to the inn, which was quite annoying.

Today, I managed to steal a lot of skills and gained two levels.

When I returned to the room, Nina was still awake. She mumbled a sleepy "Welcome back" and collapsed into bed. I took a bath to wash off the blood and went to sleep.
