"Hwaah..."

Amelia couldn't help but let out a breath at the view of the capital city from the carriage window. Her demeanor was like that of a child on a field trip.

"Enjoying the view is fine, but be careful not to lean out and fall."

Logan, sitting across from her, said in his usual calm manner.

"Ah... I'll be careful!"

Amelia quickly returned to her seat and resumed a proper posture.

"You really do make interesting movements, you know."

"O-Oh, I'm sorry for being so restless..."

"No, it's fine. Since we're alone, there's no need to be overly conscious of your surroundings."

The phrase "alone together" made Amelia's head feel light. Even though it was just to buy a dress, going out with Logan was a thrilling event for her.

Initially, they were supposed to bring a servant, but since the capital was safe and it was a good opportunity, they ended up going alone.

For Amelia, this was a moment of utmost bliss.

"Hehe..."

"Is something making you happy?"

"W-Why do you know that?"

"Take a look at your face in the mirror."

"Was it that obvious...?"

"You're too easy to read."

"How embarrassing..."

Amelia's lips curved into a smile.

"Yes, something is making me happy."

"Really?"

"Being alone with you, Lord Logan."

When Amelia said this, Logan let out a stifled breath and looked out the window.

Following his gaze, Amelia also looked outside.

The view was of the capital city of the Kingdom of Truwa, Kaido. The rows of brick buildings, colored in red, yellow, and orange, looked like a rainbow. In front of what seemed to be a tall white church, a group of what appeared to be nuns were engaged in lively conversation.

The carriage was currently on the main street, and the sidewalks on both sides were lined with various stalls displaying a wide array of goods, bustling with people.

For Amelia, who had been confined to a separate house of her family and had never ventured out into the city, everything she saw was fresh and enjoyable.

"The capital is thriving, isn't it?"

"It's been a long time since the war. I've heard it's even more vibrant than before."

The word "war" opened a box of knowledge in Amelia's mind.

About fifty years ago, the Kingdom of Truwa, where Amelia lived, was invaded by a neighboring country and forced into a defensive war. The fighting spread to the city, and the capital was ravaged by flames.

As she carefully observed the city, she occasionally saw buildings with collapsed bricks or walls with burn marks, telling the story of the war.

Thanks to the efforts of the famous generals and warriors of the time, the kingdom managed to secure victory and avoid destruction. As a victorious nation, it achieved even greater prosperity. This was the fragmented knowledge Amelia possessed.

In reality, the situation was likely more complex and brutal, but for Amelia, who did not live through that era, it was an event that lacked a sense of reality.

"Peace is truly the best."

Logan muttered as he gazed at the city.

"Indeed."

As Amelia agreed, the carriage came to a stop.

It seemed they had arrived at their destination.
