Chapter 64

After sitting down at the dinner table, Logan said to Amelia,

"I'm sorry I couldn't make time for you today. I had some documents that absolutely needed to be processed by evening."

"That's not a problem at all."

Amelia slowly shook her head.

"Having dinner with you every day is more than enough."

"It's a relief to hear you say that."

This was a significant change recently. Logan, who had dedicated his entire life to his work, began to reduce his workload and spend more time with Amelia after they reconnected emotionally.

When Logan expressed his desire to spend as much time as possible with her, it goes without saying that Amelia was overjoyed.

"Come, let's eat while it's still hot."

"Sure."

After offering a prayer before the meal, their dinner began.

The dishes served at the Hurnberg family's table were all top-notch, prepared by a first-class chef.

Today's menu was no exception, and the dishes were so appetizing that one could tell they were delicious at first glance.

After savoring the seasonal vegetable salad as an appetizer, Logan cut the grilled pork with balsamic sauce into bite-sized pieces and slowly brought them to his mouth.

"Mm..."

He barely managed to hold back his spontaneous exclamation.

The pork was so tender that it could be cut with just the edge of a knife. The rich flavor of the meat, combined with the balsamic sauce that perfectly balanced acidity and sweetness, was so delicious that it made him close his eyes in delight.

After savoring it slowly and swallowing modestly, he smiled broadly and said,

"Delicious."

In this manner, after finishing the pork, he moved on to the sole meunière, clam cream soup, and other exquisite dishes tailored to Amelia's preferences.

Suddenly, he noticed a gaze fixed on him from the side.

"Lord Logan, is something wrong?"

"No, it's just..."

Logan narrowed his eyes, looking somewhat nostalgic.

"I was remembering the first dinner we had together when you came to live here."

"The first... Oh!"

She remembered.

Due to the poor treatment at her birth home, where she was only given meager meals, Amelia had behaved like a ravenous beast when she first ate the sumptuous meals served at the Hurnberg household.

She vividly recalled stuffing her cheeks like a squirrel, talking with food in her mouth, and displaying a completely unladylike and pitiful demeanor.

"Compared to then, you've become much more ladylike in your eating habits."

"I'm still far from perfect, but I'm working hard to improve so that I don't embarrass myself when sitting next to Lord Logan."

"Indeed."

As a duke's daughter, it was essential to master etiquette, including greetings and dining manners.

While she had received some knowledge from her late mother, her practical skills were still immature.

The contract they had signed upon their engagement also stipulated that she should behave as a duchess in public, and a tea party with other nobles was approaching.

Of course, the primary reason was her emotional desire not to embarrass Lord Logan.

Given these circumstances, Amelia had become more conscious of her manners on her own initiative.

"Well, you don't need to be so tense. We're still inside the mansion. As long as you can behave appropriately when we go out, that's fine."

"Thank you, Lord Logan."

"Anyway,"

Logan gently patted Amelia's head.

"Good job."

He patted her head again. Amelia loved Logan's large, warm hand.

"Hehe..."

She was delighted by the praise. Her innocent smile, brimming with joy, made Logan smile as well.

After finishing dinner, the after-dinner tea was served.

"Delicious..."

She savored her favorite Darjeeling tea and took a moment to relax.

(They've really started to serve dishes tailored to my preferences...)

While smiling, a voice a tone lower than usual came from beside her.

"Regarding Melissa's treatment..."

A week ago, Melissa, the former maid who had attacked Amelia. Logan opened his mouth, sounding heavy.
