"Huff, another large batch today..."

In the late afternoon, at the Hernberg residence.

The orange sunlight poured down onto the vast backyard, and the air was warm and cozy.

Unaware that she was being wrongly hated by her younger sister at her parents' house, Amelia was once again engrossed in collecting weeds.

Beside her, a hand-knitted basket was piled high with deep green weeds.

"Yomoki, Hakope, and Nobi! With this much, we can make a full course of weeds!"

Amelia's eyes sparkled, and her excitement showed no signs of waning.

At that moment, a girl appeared from the depths of the backyard.

"Miss Amelia~!"

Dressed in a maid uniform, she approached with an energy that belied her small frame.

Her hair was a vibrant honey brown, with the part that reached her back tied up in a single braid on the side.

Her reddish-brown eyes shone as brightly as the sun, and her friendly smile exuded a childlike innocence that made one's cheeks want to break into a grin.

"Look, Miss Amelia, I collected so many!"

"Wow, that much!"

Peering into the basket the girl held, Amelia let out an excited voice.

The basket was neatly arranged with various types of weeds.

"Thank you for helping so much, Laila."

"Don't worry about it! Thinking about how each of these plants will become delicious meals or medicine really gets me motivated... I'm having a lot of fun too!"

The girl called Laila said this with an untroubled smile.

Laila is one of Amelia's accompanying maids.

Like Sylph, she takes care of Amelia's daily needs and also helps with weed collection.

She is 16 years old, a year younger than Amelia.

Unlike the composed Sylph, Laila is cheerful and emotionally rich, with a brightness that can instantly lighten the mood of a room.

"Your words make me happy too."

"My family runs a flower shop, so I've always loved nature. Flowers and plants are so soothing just to look at, aren't they?"

"Beautiful! I understand that feeling, just looking at them is so soothing!"

Sharing a love for nature, the two of them chatted happily and animatedly.

"Ah... I'm sorry, I got carried away talking. It's getting late, so let's call it a day, shall we?"

"That's true..."

At the signal to end, Amelia's expression slightly fell.

She still wanted to collect more weeds (maybe even until the morning of the next day).

However, she had decided to serve Logan a weed dish for dinner tonight.

Considering the preparation, it was time to wrap up.

After a wistful glance at the backyard, Amelia said,

"Let's head inside, shall we?"

"Yes! I'll go get the towels."

"Thank you, Laila."

Laila smiled broadly and trotted off.

Amelia, left behind, looked around the backyard once more and murmured,

"Just a little more until Laila comes back..."

She wanted to play with the weeds for just a few more minutes.

Just as she was about to bend down again,

"You're as energetic as ever today."

Amelia was startled by the pleasant voice.

Though she had initially been nervous when she first heard it countless times since coming to this mansion, it now had a mysterious power to lift her spirits.

"I still think this backyard is heaven."

As she said this, Amelia turned around.

Logan stood there with his usual stern expression, but upon closer inspection, his lips were relaxed in a faint smile.
