Chapter 70

That evening, the dining room was enveloped in a different atmosphere from usual.

Normally, the nobles' meals were prepared by a dedicated chef, but today, Amelia took on the role of chef.

Previously, Amelia had borrowed the kitchen to make dinner using weeds she had picked herself, but today, the person she was serving was Logan, the master of the house.

Logan gazed intently at the various dishes on the table, all made from weeds gathered from the backyard.

"Quite a lot of green, isn't it?"

"Since it's mainly weeds."

The table was a veritable feast of green.

Dishes made from weeds Amelia had hand-picked from the backyard were lined up. Each one was a carefully prepared homemade dish by Amelia.

A fresh salad made from seasonal vegetables and yomoki, boiled hakoheki, and alongside the main meat dish, a vibrant hakusan-shida. The pasta was tossed with nobi, shining with garlic oil.

"Let's begin."

After offering a prayer before the meal, Logan reached for the boiled hakoheki first. He ate a bite with a composed manner, savoring the taste slowly.

Meanwhile, Amelia's heart was a whirlwind of various emotions.

The meals Logan usually ate were prepared by a dedicated chef using carefully selected, high-quality ingredients, creating top-tier menus.

(Now that I think about it, serving weeds to a duke noble might be a bad idea...)

Before making dinner, she had been excited, but seeing her weed dishes being served to Logan made her feel as if the blood was draining from her face.

She couldn't take her eyes off Logan as he chewed the boiled hakoheki, feeling as if her fate was being decided by his facial expression.

Her heart pounded loudly, and each moment felt like an eternity, as if her heart might leap out of her chest.

"How is it...?"

She asked Logan tentatively. Her voice was small, her mouth tense, and her eyes mixed with hope and anxiety...

"It's good."

Upon hearing those words, relief descended on Amelia before joy.

"I thought it would be more bitter, but it's not. Rather, it's a taste that doesn't get old. Especially, the saltiness of the darmsberry brings out the subtle sweetness of the hakoheki, making it feel refreshing... Compared to the rich flavors of the usual dishes, this light and fresh taste is quite refreshing."

Amelia's lips curved upward at Logan's comments. The tension in her shoulders eased, and she let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm glad you like it... Hehe, hehehe..."

Unable to contain her joy, her voice slipped out. Amelia's smile was as if she might melt.

Next, Logan reached for the salad made from seasonal vegetables and yomoki with his fork.

"Yep, it's good. I can really taste the yomoki. This dressing is a flavor I've never had before. Is it homemade?"

"Yes! It's called salgamos dressing, made primarily from grated onions and carrots mixed with aged balsaso sauce, creating a dressing with a mild acidity."

"Amazing, this dressing. It goes well with the yomoki and all the vegetables. It's a taste that makes you want to keep eating."

"Really? So, Lord Logan prefers a dressing with mild acidity..."

Amelia murmured, trying to remember.

"The grilled pork goes well with these weeds. What's the name...?"

"It's hakusan-shida. It has a light flavor similar to cabbage, which I thought would go well with the pork's fat."

"Indeed, the meat's richness and the hakusan-shida's aroma complement each other. And the aroma is excellent. The robust aroma of the grilled sauce and the refreshing aroma combine... It's a unique dish I've never experienced before."

Seeing Logan savor the grilled pork and hakusan-shida, Amelia thought of something to say.

"Lord Logan, your vocabulary for describing food is very rich..."

"Is it? I hadn't really noticed..."

"I didn't expect you to describe it in such detail."

"Of course, it's only right to give feedback on the meal someone has prepared for you."

Logan said this as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"That's true, but..."

Being given such straightforward feedback made her chest feel itchy. Logan seemed to interpret her reaction negatively.

"Sorry, was it too much?"

"No, not at all! On the contrary, I'm very grateful for all the compliments..."

Amelia said with a bashful smile, and Logan replied with a small laugh, "Is that so?" before resuming his meal.

Then, Amelia also picked up her fork and started eating the weed dinner with Logan.

(Yes, it's delicious.)

To Amelia, it was a familiar taste, but with Logan's approval, it tasted even better than usual.

"Indeed, it's delicious... This is a taste I'll want to have regularly."

When Logan said this, Amelia's heart fluttered.

She was purely delighted to have her cooking praised and felt like doing a little dance.

"If you'd like, I can make it anytime."

It was a sincere statement.

She had many more weed dishes she had learned over the years at her parents' house and wanted to share all of them with Logan.

"Thank you."

Amelia nodded vigorously with a full smile.

"Of course!"
