Lin Bingbing was extremely dissatisfied with Xia Tian's behavior. Although she knew that Xia Tian was an extremely perverted man, she never expected him to even be interested in such a woman. Just now, she had seen the flirtatious woman use her chest to rub against Xia Tian's arm.
They had come here on an important mission, but Xia Tian was still in the mood for such things.
If it weren't for Xia Tian's help this time, she would have already taken action to teach him a lesson.
"I warn you, this is my only chance to join the Special Operations Unit. If you mess it up, I'll make you pay," Lin Bingbing glared at Xia Tian fiercely.
"What exactly is the Special Operations Unit?" Xia Tian asked, puzzled.
"The Special Operations Unit was called the secret agent before the founding of the country. However, the current Special Operations Unit is the most elite group in China. The people inside are of all kinds, the best of the best. The requirements to join the Special Operations Unit are very high," Lin Bingbing explained to Xia Tian, who didn't even know what the Special Operations Unit was.
"What's the point of joining?" Xia Tian asked again.
"Of course, there is a point. There, you can meet the best police officers, the most outstanding SWAT team members, geniuses like Di Renjie, computer experts, and so on. Once you join the Special Operations Unit, you can learn a lot more and meet more capable people," Lin Bingbing was particularly eager to join the Special Operations Unit. Everyone had heard of it to some extent, but very few truly understood it.
The reason she knew about the Special Operations Unit was because her uncle was the mayor of Jianghai City. Of course, there was another more important reason: she wanted to find that man, the one who abandoned his wife and child.
"Since the people there are so capable, how can you possibly get in? Are you planning to use connections?" Xia Tian looked at Lin Bingbing with doubt.
"You're the one who needs to use connections. I'm going to take the test fairly," Lin Bingbing glared at Xia Tian angrily. The Special Operations Unit had always been her dream, and she would never rely on her uncle's influence.
Although she had this opportunity because of her uncle, she had only asked for a chance, not used any connections.
"Alright, then you come," Xia Tian gestured with his hand.
"What do you mean, 'you come'?" Lin Bingbing looked at Xia Tian, confused.
"You need to take the test fairly. There are tens of thousands of people here, and you need to find Shadow among them," Xia Tian smiled slightly.
"Hmph." Lin Bingbing gritted her teeth and stomped her foot, "Fine, I'll go. Who's afraid of who?"
Lin Bingbing walked forward directly, and Xia Tian followed behind her. The more she walked, the angrier she became. Xia Tian was clearly here to help her according to Ye Wanqing's request, but now he was making her search alone.
Where should she go to find him? With just a blurry photo, it was impossible to find him. The lighting here wasn't normal, and even if the person stood right in front of her, she might not recognize him, let alone search for him like looking for a needle in a haystack.
She couldn't just pull someone aside and ask if they were Shadow. If she did that, Shadow would probably run away in fear.
She looked left and right, but couldn't figure it out.
"Tell me, what does that man do?" Xia Tian pointed to a man in front of them. The man was neatly dressed in a suit, leather shoes, and a white shirt.
"He should work in a bank or be an IT professional," Lin Bingbing said.
"Wrong, he's a security guard," Xia Tian said.
"But he's wearing a suit. He doesn't look like a security guard at all," Lin Bingbing asked, puzzled.
"Do you want to wear your police uniform after work to go shopping or play?" Xia Tian asked.
"No, I don't," Lin Bingbing understood Xia Tian's point, "But how did you know he's a security guard?"
"His suit and shoes are spotless, and he's too well-groomed. This proves that he doesn't usually wear this suit. Also, whenever a car needs to park, he can't help but look back at the parking space and the width of the road on both sides," Xia Tian's observational skills were cultivated by his father from a young age. What Sherlock Holmes knew, Xia Tian knew before he was ten.
"If you're so capable, then tell me which one of these people is Shadow?" Lin Bingbing still felt不服气 (unconvinced) even though she thought Xia Tian's explanation made sense.
"None of them. Do you think Shadow stands on the street 24/7 waiting for you to catch him?" Xia Tian looked at her with disdain.
"Aren't killers supposed to come out at night and sleep during the day?" Lin Bingbing asked again.
"Have you been watching too many TV shows? Do you think they break into houses at night and climb through windows?" Xia Tian was thoroughly defeated by Lin Bingbing's naivety, "Killers have dignity too, you know?"
"It's like how some girls are afraid to go to the bathroom at night, thinking there might be ghosts. Have you ever considered the ghosts' feelings? Ghosts have dignity too. Which ghost would come out of the toilet at midnight just to scare you?"
"You... Fine, you win. What should we do now?" Lin Bingbing was speechless with anger and looked at Xia Tian.
Xia Tian smiled at Lin Bingbing, "From now on, you listen to me. Whatever I tell you to do, you do it."
Xia Tian led Lin Bingbing into a bar. The bar wasn't very big, and the exterior wasn't particularly luxurious. There weren't even any streetwalkers around. Normally, such a place wouldn't get many customers.
Which customer wouldn't want more women in the bar, with the lights dim and the atmosphere lively? Even the women preferred larger places where they felt safer and had a better chance of meeting a wealthy man.
As soon as they entered the bar, Lin Bingbing's appearance immediately caught the attention of the people around her. She was incredibly beautiful, and she wasn't wearing any makeup, which was very rare for a woman in such a place.
A cold, beautiful woman who didn't need makeup was a rare sight. Although the bar was lively with music and dancing, similar to other bars, a closer look revealed that the same groups of people were always dancing. The others were either looking around cautiously or whispering to each other.
The bar district was already chaotic, and this bar was even more so. The men were extremely perverted, some even acting furtively, and the women were dressed in bizarre and unconventional ways.
Lin Bingbing was very uncomfortable with the environment. Her brows were furrowed, and she noticed that the people here were looking at her with undisguised lust.
"Come, let's dance," Xia Tian smiled.
"Why do we need to dance?" Lin Bingbing asked, puzzled.
"Didn't we agree that you would listen to me?" Xia Tian said, dissatisfied.
"Okay, but I don't know how to dance," Lin Bingbing decided to cooperate with Xia Tian.
"Follow me," Xia Tian took Lin Bingbing's hand and ran to the dance floor. Although Lin Bingbing was reluctant, she followed Xia Tian into the dance floor. She didn't know how to dance and felt very constrained here.
"There are dozens of eyes watching us. Don't look around," Xia Tian pretended to embrace Lin Bingbing and whispered in her ear.
Lin Bingbing nodded slightly and followed Xia Tian's movements, pretending to dance.
Xia Tian's eyes quickly scanned the room. As soon as they entered the bar, they were already being watched. Who wouldn't watch such a beautiful woman who clearly didn't belong here?
This already exposed half of her identity.
"Boss, that girl looks like a cop."
"Go try her out later. Be careful with the other transactions."
"Don't worry, boss. No one dares to make arrests in our territory."
"Send more people to check. A big client will be coming to pick up something. Don't let anything go wrong."
"Don't worry, boss. We'll try her out. If she's a cop, we'll take her away."
Xia Tian observed everyone in the room. Although it was noisy and he couldn't hear what they were saying, he had learned lip-reading from his father. With his keen eyes, he could understand what they were discussing.
Shadow was a member of the Sand Organization, but the Sand Organization never had a fixed base. They were always on missions and couldn't carry weapons, as that would lead to arrest. So, they had to contact local weapon suppliers whenever they went to a new place. Even a simple dagger wouldn't be bought from a regular store, as that would expose their identity.
For members of the Sand Organization, exposure meant death.
Xia Tian came here because his father had told him about the most chaotic places in different areas when he was young. He had mentioned the bar district in Jianghai City as an example, but he had warned Xia Tian never to step into such a place.
From the conversation he overheard, the person coming here was likely related to Shadow, though the people here didn't know the buyer was from the Sand Organization.
"Hey, girl, you're pretty," a few young thugs with yellow hair said to Lin Bingbing as they danced around her.
"Your figure and face, so beautiful."
Hearing these words, Lin Bingbing frowned. If it were any other time, she would have already taught these guys a lesson, but Xia Tian had warned her not to expose herself. She was trying to hold back, but she was about to reach her breaking point because these thugs were becoming more and more bold, even rubbing against her.
At that moment, Xia Tian pulled Lin Bingbing into his arms with one hand.
"You seem to be picking a fight with the wrong people," Xia Tian smiled at the yellow-haired thugs.
