Chapter 1

Today, I will post multiple chapters.

"Shibyl, you will leave this mansion by today. You are never to use the name Lockwood again!"

"Father, why!?"

Called to the mansion's study, I tried to respond to the sudden words from my father, Leonard. However, upon hearing my words, my father merely looked exasperated and spoke.

"You know that your younger brother, Hail, has obtained the 'Sword Saint' skill. I will be passing the head of the household to Hail. A suspicious and useless skill like yours is nothing but a disgrace. Leave my territory, and this country, by today."

In this world, everyone manifests a skill at the age of fifteen. I knew that my younger brother, Hail, had recently manifested the 'Sword Saint' skill, but I never expected to be kicked out right after. My skill is called 'Divine Interpretation,' a unique skill that has never appeared in the world before. 'Divine Interpretation' allows me to know if the answer to a question is 'Yes' or 'No.'

For example, if I use the skill in a coin toss:

'Will the next coin be heads?'

'Yes'

I can know with 100% certainty which side the coin will land on. I could easily become the king of gambling. In the business of managing the territory, I would ask:

'Will this business succeed?'

'No'

If the answer is 'No,' I should stop. If the answer is 'Yes,' I would ask more detailed questions and proceed with the business, and everything has been successful so far.

"Indeed, I may be weaker than Hail, but I have been working hard on the internal affairs!"

"Shut up! Instead of focusing on making money, you should have trained with the sword! You coward!"

The Lockwood family has always been a lineage of brawn, rising to this position through sheer physical prowess. As the eldest son, I was expected to have a combat skill. However, the result was this unique skill. It's convenient, but it's difficult to use in one-on-one combat.

Since I manifested my skill at fifteen, I have worked tirelessly for three years to contribute to the prosperity of the Lockwood family. Thanks to my efforts, our territory has developed year by year, and our income has increased by more than 40% in three years.

Now, I manage almost all of the territory's operations. Despite this, I am treated like this. No matter how hard I try, I have never been praised. All I hear is that I should train more and that I am a coward.

"I understand. I will leave as soon as possible."

There's no point in fighting over the succession with my brother. Besides, I am honestly not good at fighting. I am still afraid of being cut, and I am much better suited to internal affairs.

"I will give you a little money for your preparations. Never use my name again."

"Yes, I understand."

Father Leonard looked at me as if I were trash. I held back my tears and stood up.

When I returned to my room, a knight who was supposed to be my subordinate opened the door and threw a single Alte silver coin on the floor.

"This is your money for preparations."

"Are you kidding? This won't even last a week."

A single Alte silver coin is barely enough for a week's worth of food, maybe ten days if I cut back.

"Do you intend to defy Lord Leonard's kindness? You can take it back if you want."

"...I understand."

It's pathetic, but shouting here won't change anything.

"You must leave all your personal belongings behind. I will check your room before you leave. A carriage will be here soon. Get ready."

With that, the knight left. I thought we had a good relationship, but it seems I was mistaken.

"Do you really want me to die?"

With heavy shoulders, I sat on the bed. Our steward, Sebastian, appeared after a polite knock.

"Lord Shibyl, I am truly sorry about this decision. I have advised Lord Leonard multiple times to reconsider, but to no avail... I am deeply sorry."

Saying this, Sebastian bowed deeply. He is over sixty and has taken care of me since I was a child, like a second father to me.

"It's fine. He never listens to anyone anyway."

"Why such a rash decision... You manage almost all of the territory's operations. It's clear that things will go wrong if you suddenly leave."

"Father probably thinks anyone can do it. He hasn't trusted my 'Divine Interpretation' since that incident."

That incident was when, right after manifesting my skill, Father asked:

"Will the Lockwood family continue to prosper?"

I asked Metis:

'Will the Lockwood family prosper?'

But the answer was:

'No'

Shaken, I told Father 'No,' and that was a mistake.

"Such a suspicious and fraudulent skill, never use it again!"

He stormed out, eyes bloodshot with anger.

Since then, Father has never relied on my 'Divine Interpretation.'

"That is hard to believe as a vassal of the Lockwood family..."

"Sometimes, the truth is not what should be told."

That was a mistake.

"Lord Shibyl, take this... Since that advice, Lord Leonard has been watching me closely, but I managed to get a little."

Sebastian handed me a leather bag containing ten Alte silver coins.

"I'm sorry, I wish I could give you more, but moving large amounts of money would be noticed. These are the silver coins my mother gave me when I came to serve the Leonard family. They won't be noticed."

"But these are important to you..."

"No, I want you to use them. Please take care."

Saying this, Sebastian hugged me. His kindness, more than that of any family member, made my chest tighten.

"Thank you, Sebastian! I will use them carefully."

Sebastian worried about me until the end.

After parting with Sebastian, I boarded the carriage waiting in front of the mansion. My mother and no one else came to say goodbye. My mother, who was cold to me for not fighting, must really dislike me.

The two knights who accompanied me checked that nothing was left in my room, then sat in the driver's seat and drove the carriage away. Thus, I was exiled from the nobility and the country.
