"Wow!"

I looked up at the walls of Delcoeur and let out a cry. Delcoeur was surrounded by a stone wall about four meters high. With this, it would be hard to conquer even if attacked.

"This town is near the border. However, it hasn't been attacked for about fifty years, so it doesn't really serve much of a purpose."

The merchant explained with a laugh.

Finally, I had arrived at Delcoeur.

"Thank you for escorting me here, Sibyl. The central bell tower is a tourist attraction in this town. If you have the time, I recommend you see it."

"It's my pleasure. Perhaps we'll meet again."

After shaking hands with the male merchant, I bid him farewell.

"What should I do? I need an ID, so I should join a guild somewhere. Before that, I might as well see the bell tower that was recommended."

In this world, a guild card often serves as an ID. The Adventurer's Guild is the easiest to join, so I should visit it.

The town seems to have roads radiating from the center. Here and there, knights who seem to be guarding the town stand, but they don't seem very motivated.

As I walked down the road, I came to a large open square.

"Wow."

I couldn't help but exclaim in awe. In the center stood a massive stone bell tower, over tens of meters tall. At the top, a large silver bell gleamed majestically. The bell's diameter must exceed two meters. Its beauty and grandeur make it a fitting landmark.

An old man saw me entranced and called out to me.

"You must be new to this town. First-time visitors are usually captivated by that great bell. It's our guardian deity, always watching over us from the center. It rings at noon, and the sound is beautiful and clear."

Indeed, it feels sacred, as if it could be a guardian deity.

"It's a magnificent bell. I would love to hear its sound."

"It will ring soon. We judge noon by the sound of the bell."

I would love to hear it up close, but there will be other opportunities. I asked the old man for directions to the Adventurer's Guild and headed there.

I arrived at a large, historic building a little further down the main street.

When I entered, the adventurers, armed with weapons, glanced at me. But they quickly lost interest and looked away.

"Recently, it's all about hunting Big Boars in the fields."

"Conversely, requests for Red Crocodiles seem to be decreasing."

"I finally defeated an Orc and upgraded my weapons!"

Everyone was sitting at tables, drinking and chatting, sharing information. Many looked intimidating, but they all seemed to be having fun.

I headed to the reception before anyone could bother me. The receptionist was a young girl with a red bandana, looking gentle and warm.

"I would like to register as an adventurer. This is my first time, and I don't have much knowledge. Could you explain the basics to me?"

"Of course. The ranks range from S to G. You'll start at G rank. Do you have a combat skill?"

"Unfortunately, no."

In this world, everyone is given one skill at the age of fifteen. To discover their skill, they have it appraised by a church priest, a tradition in every country.

Not everyone has a combat skill; about 40% have agricultural skills, 20% have production skills, 20% have combat skills, and the remaining 20% have other skills.

Those with sword or magic skills often join the military. Obtaining an excellent skill is like a guarantee of success, so people often get excited or disappointed by their skills.

"Is that so? By the way, how many monsters have you hunted?"

She looked a bit disappointed for a moment. I noticed. Well, I am pretty weak.

"I've taken down a few Goblins."

"In that case, I recommend you gradually build your strength with G-rank quests."

"By the way, what level of adventurers are in this guild?"

"The top rank here is C. You won't see B-rank monsters around here, so we don't have any B-rank adventurers. C rank can make you a town hero. There's only one team in this town. D rank is considered top-tier in the town. There are a few teams. E rank is the backbone of the town. An E-rank party is strong enough to hunt Orcs."

I see, even E rank seems questionable. I don't think I can beat those guys. Maybe being an adventurer isn't for me, but I need an ID, so I'll make one.

"I understand. Please register me."

Please stop making that face, receptionist. Do you really understand?

"The registration fee is one silver coin."

I paid the silver coin, thinking it was unexpectedly high. I only have nine silver coins left now. If this continues, I'll really starve to death. I need to find a way to earn money quickly.

I received my guild card, which clearly states G rank.

After receiving a brief explanation in a separate room, I left the guild.

The moment I stepped out, I heard the beautiful sound of the bell. It's a lovely sound. I don't know much about this town, but I could like it just for this.

"First, I need to earn some money. But I do have a way to earn it."

I couldn't stop the corners of my mouth from turning up. I will use my only and greatest strength, 'Divine Understanding,' to make money in business!
