Chapter 5

At the entrance of the alley, a girl stood alone.
She was a beautiful girl, out of place in the dirty back alley.
Her beautiful golden hair, which reached her waist, was loosely curled, and she had red eyes that exuded a sense of intelligence. Her well-defined features combined the cuteness and beauty of a girl on the verge of becoming an adult.
She was just under 160 centimeters tall, and her movements exuded a sense of grace. She wore white clothing and carried a rapier at her waist. Her chest was noticeably full even through her clothes.
"I can't let this misconduct continue."
The girl said this and pointed the tip of her rapier at the men.
"Ugh! A knight? And that outfit..."
The men stopped moving. However, one of them readied his sword.
"Don't move! Wind Bullet!"
The girl drew her rapier and thrust it forward. A wind bullet shot from its tip, narrowly missing the man's face and hitting the wall, leaving a small round hole. If it had hit his face, it would have pierced through.
The men exchanged glances and nodded.
"Damn, let's get out of here!"
Despite being four against one, the men fled in a panic. It seemed her affiliation was well-known.
The girl, whose eyes had just exuded a strong will, now softened and sat down.
"Are you okay, sir?"
"Thank you, you saved me."
Despite still feeling intense pain all over his body, he managed to stand up and express his gratitude.
"You're wearing nice clothes, so you must be a noble?"
"No, I'm not a noble. I'm just an adventurer now."
Well, I just became an adventurer today.
"Is that so? Be careful, though. Wearing nice clothes can make you a target."
She smiled, a smile that could make any man fall in love. Just that smile alone could make the whole world fall for her.
"I learned a lot today. My name is Cibyl."
"I'm Eve. I'm currently working as a guard in this town."
"You're a knight of this town?"
"…Yeah, something like that!"
As they talked, she seemed more like a lady than a knight. She was so gentle and seemed more suited to flowers than fighting.
"Is there anything I can do to thank you?"
"No, no, it's fine! It's a knight's duty to protect the townspeople. Oh, I have to get back! Goodbye, Cibyl."
With that, Eve left.
"Not everything is bad, you know."
He said this with a smile. Incidentally, five seconds later, he realized a pot had broken and he began to cry.
That night, to save money, he decided to stay at the cheapest inn. It cost 3,000G...
"This isn't a bed..."
All he was given was a thin blanket. He lay on the floor, sharing a room with a large number of men. There were more than ten people in one room.
The floor was painful, and he was afraid of being robbed, so he couldn't settle down to sleep. In the middle of the night, he was crying and sniffing due to the sudden change in environment when
"Shut up, brat!"
he was shouted at by the person next to him. He needed to get a proper life as soon as possible. He hugged his meager possessions and lay on the cold floor.
