The next morning, Zheng Qian got up, washed up, and hurried to the city hospital for work.
"Hmm? A new one?"
At the hospital's personnel office, Zheng Qian submitted his reporting materials. The lady in charge sized him up, puzzled. So young, just graduated from school, and already a regular employee—must have used connections, she thought.
Following the procedures, Zheng Qian completed the formalities and then reported to the outpatient department.
He pushed open the door to the office, where a middle-aged man was sitting at a desk, one leg crossed over the other, reading a newspaper.
"Hello, Director Lu, I'm the new one!"
Zheng Qian placed the documents on the desk and spoke.
"Uh, put them down!" The middle-aged man put down the newspaper, glanced at Zheng Qian, and then returned to his reading.
After about fifteen minutes, the middle-aged man finally put down the newspaper and picked up Zheng Qian's documents. When he saw the name, Lu Ping's eyebrows furrowed.
Yesterday, his friend Yan Guo seemed to have angered Old Mu because of someone named Zheng Qian and was fired and had his medical license revoked. Could this be the same young man? If he doesn't avenge his friend, he would be betraying Yan Guo's past kindness.
Lu Ping's face remained expressionless. It took him another fifteen minutes to finish reading the two-page document.
"I see, I understand. Since you're new, go to the reception desk first to familiarize yourself with the procedures," Lu Ping said expressionlessly.
"Reception desk?" Zheng Qian was taken aback. It wasn't that he looked down on the reception desk, but it was too idle. Just guiding patients to doctors—how could this be a proper use of his medical skills? What about the important tasks Yuan Changming promised yesterday? Any nurse could do this.
Seeming to notice Zheng Qian's dissatisfaction, Lu Ping's tone became more serious, "Young man, you must endure hardship to become successful. Start at the reception desk, get familiar with the procedures, and in a few years, I'll take good care of you!"
"Okay!" Zheng Qian responded indifferently, turned, and walked out, closing the door behind him.
Lu Ping's face changed instantly, "You... What kind of attitude is this? Do you work like this? You must unconditionally obey the organization's arrangements. Do you want to defy me? People like you should work at the reception desk for life."
However, Zheng Qian had already left, and Lu Ping's scolding went unheard.
Throughout the day, Zheng Qian was idle at the reception desk, occasionally guiding a few patients to their doctors.
Just before the end of the shift, a middle-aged man rushed into the hospital, covered in blood.
"Doctor, doctor, come over, is there a doctor?"
The man shouted loudly, his face urgent.
Zheng Qian frowned and stepped forward, "Don't panic, take it easy, what happened?"
"Get lost, quickly call a doctor over. If you delay, I won't spare you!" The man shouted fiercely when he saw Zheng Qian approach from the reception desk.
Soon, a few people pushed a stretcher in, on which lay a young man, his face extremely pale from blood loss.
Zheng Qian also saw that the young man's leg was a bloody mess, the bone broken into several pieces, protruding through the flesh, a terrifying sight.
Seeing Zheng Qian's predicament, a nurse nearby pulled his hand and whispered, "Move aside, they're from the Lin Group. The one on the stretcher is Lin Fucheng's son, Lin Tianye!"
The Lin family? Lin Fucheng? Zheng Qian had heard of them. A famous entrepreneur and philanthropist in Handan City, with businesses in catering, clothing, real estate, and more, one of the richest families in the city.
"Who's making a fuss outside?"
With nothing to do, Lu Ping, who was about to check on Zheng Qian, walked out of the office with his hands behind his back, shouting loudly.
When he saw the middle-aged man at the door, his fat face broke into a smile, and he hurried over, "Young Master Meng, it's you!"
"Cut the crap, Director Lu, quickly call a doctor. Use any method to save Young Master Lin, or I'll tear this hospital apart!" Meng Hong said coldly.
Meng Hong couldn't help but be anxious. He had a favor to ask of Lin Tianye and had taken him to a street racing event. But an accident happened, and now he was in a bind. If anything happened to Lin Tianye, Meng Hong's life would be over.
Lu Ping, instead of getting angry, looked at the person on the stretcher and almost shouted. Lin Tianye was the future heir of the entire Lin Group in Handan City. If anything happened to him in his hospital, it would be disastrous.
But if he could save him, the money would be substantial.
"Quick, take Young Master Lin upstairs. I'll call Old Chen to come for the surgery!" Lu Ping said urgently.
Meng Hong frowned, "It must be quick."
"Yes, yes, yes!" Lu Ping nodded rapidly and ran outside to make the call.
Zheng Qian, standing nearby, faintly heard Lu Ping mention traffic jams.
"Lin Tianye's leg is severely injured. If we delay, he'll lose not just his leg but his life," Zheng Qian thought, and quickly followed.
"Why hasn't the surgeon arrived? What are you all doing? If anything happens to Young Master Lin, I'll send you all to jail!" Meng Hong shouted like a mad dog, and the medical staff all kept their distance.
Seeing Zheng Qian approach, Meng Hong lunged at him, shouting, "You, quickly find a doctor for the surgery. You're all useless, hurry up..."
However, before Meng Hong could touch Zheng Qian, a large hand like an iron clamp grabbed his wrist.
"Ouch, ouch..." Meng Hong cried out.
"If you don't want him to die, don't talk nonsense!" Zheng Qian glared at Meng Hong and walked towards the operating room.
At that moment, Lu Ping, who had just finished his call, ran in and saw Zheng Qian. He shouted, "Stop, your post is at the reception desk. Do you have the right to be here? Get back there!"
Zheng Qian stopped, turned, and looked at Lu Ping with a cold, sharp gaze.
Lu Ping trembled and then shouted, "If you don't follow your assigned post, I'll report you!"
"Do as you please!" Zheng Qian said indifferently and then turned to Meng Hong, "Given the patient's condition, if we don't operate immediately, he'll lose his leg. By the time Old Chen arrives, he'll be dead. You decide."
"Shut up, you..." Lu Ping shouted angrily.
But before he could finish, Meng Hong kicked him aside, "If you can operate, do it. Otherwise, don't talk nonsense!"
Zheng Qian nodded at Meng Hong, took two nurses as assistants, and walked into the operating room.
Meng Hong had no choice. He was treating a dead horse as if it were alive. He knew that if they waited for Old Chen, Lin Tianye would be dead.
Lu Ping wanted to say more but held back when he saw Meng Hong's gaze.
"Move, move..."
Soon, a few men in black rushed down the corridor, shouting, and everyone moved out of the way.
A woman's anxious voice rang out, "Yeye, Yeye, where's my Yeye?"
Meng Hong turned to see a stern-looking middle-aged man walking over, and a beautiful woman beside him shouting anxiously.
"Uncle, I..." Meng Hong's face darkened, and he lowered his head.
Lin Fucheng shook his head, "This isn't your fault. Let's wait."
But Li Wen didn't agree. She glared at Meng Hong and shouted, "Meng, I know you want to take on our Lin Group's project. If anything happens to my son, I won't spare you. Forget about the project!"
Meng Hong just lowered his head, saying nothing.
When Lu Ping saw Lin Fucheng, his eyes lit up. He quickly squeezed in and added, "Mrs. Lin, a new receptionist who just graduated from university wanted to operate on your son. I wanted to stop him, but this person allowed it..."
"What?" Li Wen, hearing this, exploded like a bomb. She glared at Meng Hong and shouted, "Get out, get out, you'll pay for this, Meng Construction Group!"
Meng Hong panicked, trying to plead.
"Ding!"
The light in the operating room went off, and Zheng Qian, with a few assisting nurses, walked out.
"You're the receptionist who operated on my son? Stop, you can't leave. If anything happens to my son, I'll make you pay with your life!"
Li Wen, seeing Zheng Qian, shouted angrily and tried to grab his collar.
But Lin Fucheng stopped her, glaring at Li Wen, and then quickly walked to the operating room, not even looking at Zheng Qian. He only wanted to know how his son was and found it hard to believe that a recent graduate could perform such a surgery. He had already received Lin Tianye's injury report on his way.
Lu Ping looked at Zheng Qian smugly and shouted, "Get back to the reception desk. I'll report this, and you'll be punished."
"If you want your son to be fine, don't remove the ointment on his leg," Zheng Qian said indifferently and walked away.
Meng Hong looked bitter, not knowing what to say.
Soon, Old Chen arrived, and Lu Ping quickly greeted him. They both followed Lin Fucheng to the operating room.
Seeing the cleaned wound, Old Chen's eyes showed surprise. The broken leg bones were already connected. The person who operated was not simple.
"Lu Ping, how is my son?" Li Wen asked, seeing Lin Tianye still unconscious.
Lu Ping glanced at Lin Tianye, smiling, "Mrs. Lin, don't worry. Our city hospital's top surgeon, Old Chen, is here. Young Master Lin will definitely recover."
He then saw the silver needles and black ointment on Lin Tianye's leg and sneered, "What is this? Is it sterilized? Putting it on the wound like this, it could cause infection!"
In a few quick moves, he pulled out the needles and scraped off the black ointment.
"Old Chen, let you decide. After all, you're the authority here," Lu Ping said, smiling and flattering.
Old Chen "Hmm"ed, enjoying the respect. Even a big businessman in Handan City treated him with respect, which felt great.
He leaned in to examine Lin Tianye.
"Beep, beep, beep!"
Suddenly, the machines connected to Lin Tianye started beeping, his breathing and heart rate weakened, and the blood that had stopped flowing began to seep out again.
