As the boat slowly moved away from the coast, ripples rose behind it.
Alice is rowing with a bitter and gloomy look on her face
Merlin, who is standing on the bow and welcoming the stormy sea breeze, is gazing into the distance.
His blond hair is rising into the air and sliding across the smooth forehead. <Omnia>, hanging from his waist, looks quite simple, giving off a feeling of metal scrap. Compared to Alice’s Hymn of Light, it is really unremarkable.
No one would believe that this is a magic sword, the weapon of the lord of the First Demon Palace, a proof of lordship that only Merlin could pull out.
The two rode the small boat through the wreckage of the crusader battleships, which were resplendent and magnificent not long ago, but now have become broken and desolate.
Alice sighed in her heart, sighed at her fortune of being a hired Hero, since she won’t have to bear any responsibility. If it was a true Hero instead, they wouldn’t have the face to return to the Church.
She looked at the many shadows of maneater sharks swimming back a forth behind them, lurking under the sea. They aren’t attacking. Instead, they are following behind the boat, waiting for someone to fall off.
“They aren’t attacking us…”
Alice is a bit confused, musing — under normal circumstances, this frenzy of maneater sharks would bite the boat, and then eat us alive. But now they seem to be afraid of something, only daring to tail us, but not to attack.
“Isn’t this only natural? Despite being low-level magic beasts without intelligence, maneater sharks’ perception ability is rather good. They can anticipate potential danger.”
Merlin turned back and chuckled, feeling that the foolish girl Alice has never opened a book.
Alice didn’t speak. But within her heart, a spark of hope was ignited. With Merlin here, maybe they can really cross the Strait of Orkney safely.
During his time in the First Demon Palace, Merlin has immersed himself in the library for a long time. As a transmigrator, his primary purpose was to collect information.
Even Lilith knows that Merlin must not be disturbed when he is reading.
After reading many books, Merlin gained the most basic understanding of this world.
In this world, there is magic and auror, whose power levels are most commonly divided into four tiers – Low tier, Mid tier, High tier, and Saint tier.
Saint tier is the highest point that most creatures in this world can reach. Of course, there may be existences beyond Saint tier.
Merlin, for example, believes that he isn’t part of any power level. He is something akin to a bug [1].
To summarize this world in one sentence–
This world is situated in the medieval period, but it is full of fantasy elements and many unsolved mysteries.
Although the books he read describe the outside world, but there are bound to be discrepancies. Therefore, he is looking forward to this long journey.
Maybe I’ll encounter a super powerful being. Then, once I slay them, I’ll be able to lift the damn curse.
Thinking of this, the corners of Merlin’s mouth rose. He couldn’t help but feel excited.
The two crossed the wreckage area and headed for the vast sea.
The boundless sea is not beautiful at all. It is full of storms, appearing extremely fierce. There are who knows how many scarlet eyes lurking in the gloomy deep sea.
As she works hard to row in the stormy sea, Alice is very nervous, worried that sea monsters will pop out at any moment.
At sea, even if it is Merlin, it may be impossible to deal with plesions.
Alice looked at Merlin’s back, and a suspicion arose in her heart, so she started to ask, “Lucifer III…”
“I said not to call me by this name. I am no longer the Demon Lord, so the name Lucifer cannot be used casually. Call me Merlin.”
“Why are you leaving the Demon Palace?” Alice asked, thinking — why would such a powerful being go to human territory? Isn’t this a recipe for disaster?
A drop of cold sweat slid down Merlin’s forehead, thinking — I can’t tell her that I was fired, that’s too shameful.
Of course, I can’t talk about the curse either, since it’s a secret. I’m not familiar with Alice, so why should I tell her?
“I’m too awesome, invincible among the demonfolk in fact, so I always feel bored. I want to go out into the world and cause some trouble.”
