What’s that?
Unexpectedly, he became stronger after vanquishing a series of opponents.
What does level 99999… mean?
Alice is rather puzzled. But after hearing Merlin talk about himself, she feels hopeful inside. It seems that I haven’t worked hard enough. Otherwise, I also could have stepped into the Saint tier power level.
“Sure enough, it is thanks to hard work that you got to where you are today, right?”
“Huh, who has worked hard? My dream is to take it easy. Why would I work hard?” Merlin grinned, pointed at himself with a thumb, and said, “This great one was born max-level.”
“Pfff!” Alice spat out a large amount of blood. Her self-esteem has suffered a major blow. She feels that Merlin is toying with her. Her hope, which was ignited with great difficulty, was instantly obliterated. Thereupon, she asked emotionally, “Then what’s with that emotional speech just now?! If you were this strong from the get go, then how could you have such a tragic past! Did you thought it was an award acceptance speech, that it would be shameful to go up the stage without a tragic backstory?”
“I didn’t lie. In the past, I used to be rather pitiful. But that’s because I had strength, yet couldn’t make use of it. I was no different from a cripple.” Merlin raised his eyelids and said seriously, “For example, imagine someone with a lot of MP, yet without skills that consume MP. They naturally won’t be able to exert their strength.”
“What… what’s MP?” Question marks popped up on Alice’s head.
Merlin shook his head. It is impossible for people of this world to understand the concept of MP.
“It’s nothing. In layman’s terms, I was a real-life max-level Yasuo [1] who forgot his skills and thus could only use common attacks against my opponents.”
“??!” Alice creased her eyebrows, unable to make sense of the other party’s words.
“Bugger off. Anyway, I can’t get you to understand. Go was some clothes with your washboard.” Merlin waved his hand impatiently, feeling that he can’t explain it clearly in the language of this world.
“If you don’t want to tell me, then don’t! But do you have to chide me?” Alice blushed. She thinks that Merlin is deliberately concealing the details of his training method, “Stingy…”
Merlin twisted his mouth and said nothing, musing — since I didn’t learn any skills, despite being max-level, I couldn’t display my strength. Therefore, my quick draw is so fierce. Is this that hard to understand?
I feel like talking with this idiotic girl has a negative impact on my IQ….
The two are getting further and further away from the Death Marshes. The dark water in front of them and the dark clouds in the sky are linked together, looking like a heavy dark door leading to parts unknown that is opening slowly.
At first, Alice could hear the thrashing of the maneater sharks behind them- But now it has become rather quiet.
She looked back curiously and found that the frenzy of sharks behind them has disappeared.
“The maneater sharks are gone. Did they just give up?”
“You’re too naive. The maneater sharks fled because a bigger predator is coming. This is the law of the food chain.”
“Eh!?” Alice can’t figure out what’s going on.
With a stone face, Merlin is watching the heavy rain and lightning ahead. The rain is pitter-pattering on his face.
The waves in the distance are becoming higher and higher. The sea is churning and surging unstably, hindering their advance.
As the boat the two are riding rocked and swayed, a huge black shadow slowly emerged from under the sea and became more and more clear, like a big turtle coming up.
Enveloped by the silhouette of some unknown monster, a large area of the sea turned black. It is hard to imagine how large the monster is.
“Get down.” Merlin said flatly.
“Why?” Alice is stunned, unable to understand the situation.
“Something is coming. If you fall into the sea, you’re on your own, since I can’t swim.” Merlin answered truthfully.
Startled, Alice looked at the sea, at the patch of darkness underneath the surface.
She felt her heart thump, and a bad premonition welled up inside her. She suddenly regretted going out to sea with Merlin.
Alice put down the oars and crouched obediently.
“Didn’t you say that you tore a sea devil apart at sea? How did you do that if you don’t know how to swim?”
“The stupid sea devil came ashore on its own because it wanted my canned herring. I have never been to the sea.” Merlin sounds a bit embarrassed.
Black drooping lines appeared on Alice’s forehead, a complicated look on her face–
Er…
Why does it feel like he’s an idiot?
Was it really okay to go out to sea with him?
