How can this be!?

It was such a powerful mana beam.

Yet it was surprisingly warded off with one hand.

Lucifer III is really too strong.

How could someone like him exist in the world?

This kind of strength cannot be explained…

Alice, whose heart is palpitating with anxiety and fear and legs are trembling subconsciously, has her mind filled with the scene where Merlin easily warded off the mana beam just now.

She, who has never seen anyone stronger than her teacher, could not accept Merlin’s existence momentarily.

“How… how is this possible?!” The archbishop, with an expression of horror on his face, uttered in disbelief, “The crystallization of the Church’s 100 years of wisdom is more powerful than Saint tier essence. It cannot be defended. How did you do it?”

“Aren’t you a survivor of the last crusade? I said it from the start…” Merlin crooked his head, pointed at himself, and said with a smile, “I am immune to magic. No matter how powerful the magic is, it has no effect on me. To pose a threat to me, you’d have to send a Saint tier warrior.”

Immune to magic?

Impossible!

How can there be someone immune to magic?

If it’s true, then it’ll rock the fundamental theories of magicology!

Alice opened her eyes wide, thinking that such a thing is impossible, that Merlin is lying.

“This is impossible!?” The archbishop tumbled to the ground. Trembling, a shocked expression on his face, he pointed at Merlin and said, “You… you you you… you monster! You trickster! That’s cheating!”

“Humph!” Lilith snorted and said disdainfully, “Fool, my older brother is the strongest in the world! This is just the tip of the iceberg! You should be honored to be able to witness it!”

“Im… impossible!” The archbishop, not willing to believe the facts presented before him, grabbed his hair, “How could the gods allow a guy like you to exist!”

“If you can, have that goddess of yours come fight me. Always sending some small fries to die, aren’t you guys tired…” Merlin sighed and smiled bitterly.

“Shut up! To disrespect our faith, this sin cannot be forgiven!” The archbishop stood up and glared at Merlin with bloodshot eyes, “Knights, chant the scripture and gather mana!”

The crusader army’s knights put down their swords and shields and silently chanted scripture psalms.

Ancient obscure words and syllables came out from the knights’ mouths. Every one of them released their mana, and specks of light formed a dazzling river that soared into the clouds.

Alice watched quietly from the sidelines. This is the first time she saw mana gathered by 100,000 people. This scene is so majestic, that it gives off the urge to bow down.

The river of specks of light formed from mana was absorbed by the halo on the white whale’s head.

Due to the sharp increase in mana, the gold halo on its head has become purplish red.

It looks like the switch of this weapon was cranked up to the max.

It raised its head, opened its big maw, and exhaled a burning hot breath.

“Roar!”

A tremendous bellow, similar to that of a raging bull, set off gusts of wind.

Oh god!

It can still become stronger!

The maximum output of this weapon is so scary!

Due to the howling wind, Alice couldn’t open her eyes. The pressure from the white whale made her heart beat wildly.

“Older brother!” Lilith shouted behind Merlin, worried. This crusade is different from the previous ones, they clearly came prepared. She has never heard of such a tremendous amount of mana.

“It’s okay…” Merlin said lightly, a happy smile on his face, “That’s right, a fight has to be more serious. I’m getting a little pumped.”

“Lucifer, you bastard!” The archbishop’s aged face revealed a sinister expression. He pointed at Merlin with his enchanted staff, “Have a good taste of our faith! It shall smash your arrogance!”

After charging for a while, the white whale opened its maw and fired a maximum-output mana beam at Merlin —

Purple light suddenly emerged and even eclipsed the sun. A tremendous mana pressure surged, making all creatures shiver and not dare to look up.

Thunderous and mighty.

A pillar of light violently tore through all barriers and barreled straight towards Merlin.

… finished.

No one can block that kind of attack.

I’m afraid that only the gods can withstand it.

Alice shook her head and sheathed the rapier.

Lilith chose to believe in her older brother. But she’s still a little worried, crumpling the clothing on her chest.

“This might be already good enough for you guys, but it’s not enough to beat me…”

Merlin gripped his magic sword “Omnia”. Wind blew away his blond hair, revealing his smooth forehead.

“In the name of the First Demon Lord Lucifer, I shall grant you a glorious death!”

“I shall trample on your faith.”

Merlin stooped down and assumed a quick draw stance.

Then, he closed his eyes…

“Cut!”

He unsheathed the sword and slashed out!

The maximum-output mana beam was instantly dissipated. The knights were blasted into smithereens by the tremendous force.

The wind roared violently, uprooted trees, and blew them into parts unknown.

The earth, as if dried weeds, shook and surrendered to the might of the sword strike.

Alice screamed, and then was drowned by the wave-like impact.

“Why is he so strong…”

The knees of the archbishop buckled, and he knelt on the ground, a dull look on his face. He turned into minced meat.

The white whale in the sky has disappeared. The moment Merlin drew his sword, it had turned into a rain of blood.

With just one sword strike, Merlin wiped out the mighty 100,000-strong army of the Church and turned them into dust.

Merlin gazed at the spectacular fissure in front of him and the blue sky that emerged after the clouds in the sky were sliced open. The sun shines on the earth, which is red from blood.

“Alas, you’re too weak…”

Merlin sighed, flicked the sword, and placed it back in the sheath.

The Church’s 233rd crusade failed.
