Chapter 9

Time flies, and before he knew it, a week had passed. Lin Tian lived the same life every day, the only difference being that his relationship with Ke Xin was continuously growing warmer. Now, when no one was around, he could hold her fair, small hand.
After teaching Huang Mao a lesson, Lin Tian's life returned to a mundane routine.
On this evening, after the after-school study session ended, Lin Tian sent Ke Xin home and, as usual, walked back along the dark, narrow path.
Thinking of Ke Xin's sweet appearance, Lin Tian felt a sense of satisfaction, humming a tune as he walked through the night.
"What's going on?"
Just a moment ago, Lin Tian had a lecherous look on his face, but now he felt a sudden unease, as if something bad was about to happen.
Lin Tian stopped in his tracks, his mind racing to predict what might happen. However, no matter how he tried to divine the situation, the images were vague and unclear, hinting only at something happening at the entrance of the alley ahead.
"Damn, no wonder they say fortune-tellers can't predict their own fate; it's because they can't figure it out at all."
Lin Tian muttered to himself.
Although the divination was vague, the alley entrance was the only way home. If he wanted to go home, he had to pass through it.
"Given my current abilities, I should be able to handle a few ordinary people, right?"
Lin Tian asked himself. Since gaining the inheritance, he hadn't encountered any real danger. He had become fearless in fights, and over time, he had developed a somewhat arrogant and reckless attitude.
Lin Tian said this, but he was still wary of the unknown danger.
He slowly walked out of the alley entrance, and seeing no danger, he began to doubt himself: "Was I just being paranoid?"
As soon as he said this, a faint whistling sound came from behind him. Without looking back, Lin Tian rolled like a lazy donkey, dodging the arrow that narrowly missed him, causing his face to pale in shock.
Then, he leaped up and, like a kangaroo, kicked the shadow hiding there with a front kick.
Seeing the face of the person who had attacked him, Lin Tian's eyes turned cold, and the air around him seemed to chill.
"Wang Hu."
The attacker was none other than the foolish tiger Lin Tian had been looking for. Seeing him, Lin Tian knew that this incident was likely related to Huang Mao.
He called out to the empty surroundings, "Huang Mao, stop hiding and come out."
Lin Tian knew that Huang Mao and Wang Hu were sworn brothers, so wherever Wang Hu was, Huang Mao wouldn't be far behind. However, the only response he received was the sound of footsteps.
At the alley entrance, a group of black shadows wielding bright machetes charged at Lin Tian.
Seeing the gleaming blades, Lin Tian's face changed rapidly.
Although he wasn't afraid of ordinary people, the blades and sticks could still cause him significant, even fatal, injuries.
At this moment, he didn't care about his pride. He kneed Wang Hu, who was just getting up, and ran forward frantically.
If the attackers hadn't been armed, Lin Tian was confident he could easily take them down. But with the bright blades, he was unsure.
Even if he were cut twice, as long as it was in a vital area, he would spend the rest of his life in the hospital, dependent on intravenous nutrition.
With his enhanced physical abilities, his running speed had also improved. In this dangerous situation, he ran the length of the hundred-meter alley in just a few seconds. However, seeing the people blocking the alley entrance, his heart tightened.
Blocking the alley entrance were not just anyone, but the people Huang Mao had brought.
"Little brat, keep running."
"Why aren't you running? Weren't you so tough that day?"
Huang Mao, with three or four henchmen, waved his machete and looked at Lin Tian with a smug expression.
By the time the henchmen caught up, they were all out of breath, clearly lacking in physical training.
"Little brat, you really hit hard. My teeth are almost all gone."
Wang Hu, with a mouth that whistled when he spoke, said viciously to Lin Tian.
Huang Mao, unable to see Wang Hu's condition in the darkness, but hearing his whistling, could imagine how badly he had been beaten. Thinking of the humiliation he had suffered, Huang Mao tightened his grip on the machete and said to Lin Tian, who was looking at him coldly, "Little brat, I'll give you two choices today."
"First, kneel and call me grandpa, and prepare a thousand yuan, and this will be over."
"Second, I'll take a part of your body."
"Those choices sound perfect for you."
As soon as he said this, Lin Tian suddenly lunged at Huang Mao, thinking that if he could take out the leader, the others would be hesitant to act.
However, Lin Tian had underestimated Huang Mao. After being beaten once, Huang Mao was on high alert.
As soon as Lin Tian finished speaking, Huang Mao swung his machete, and if it had hit, Lin Tian's arm would have been lost.
The henchmen surrounding him also swung their machetes at Lin Tian.
Lin Tian, now in a rage, his usually gentle eyes now tinged with a sinister red, his delicate face twisted in a fierce expression, kicked one of the henchmen blocking his way. The henchman flew back, spitting blood, and this sight made the others, who were like brothers, turn red with anger.
"Thud..." Two sounds of blades cutting flesh rang out.
Even with his high martial arts skills, Lin Tian was no match for multiple attackers. He had just taken down one when his back was exposed, and he was slashed. More blades came at him from the front, and he managed to dodge three but was hit in the chest by the fourth.
In 1998, the police force in a small town was limited. The residents on both sides of the alley, hearing the fight, had long since closed their doors, and only a few brave souls peeked out of their windows, but no one was willing to call the police.
By now, Lin Tian was covered in injuries. He had completely lost control and no longer adhered to the rule in his mind not to use his abilities against ordinary people. He did a backflip behind the group.
With a fierce expression, he said in a cold, hellish voice, "Let me show you what hell is like."
Huang Mao and his men, seeing Lin Tian flip behind them like a martial arts expert, were stunned.
But hearing Lin Tian's chilling words, they all felt a sudden chill.
Lin Tian waved his hands, and an invisible aura of malevolence spread through the night, surrounding the group.
The people present felt as if the temperature had dropped by several degrees, and in the sweltering July, they felt a bone-chilling cold.
This was the only phase skill that had appeared in Lin Tian's mind so far: "Invoke Malevolence."
