Chapter 13

What on earth happened that got Lin Fei so excited?

It turned out that the arduous cultivation method of the Profound Art, which had finally found a home, was discovered by Lin Fei by sheer luck, inadvertently activating the task system.

The Ninefold Heart Method, as the name suggests, requires reaching the ninth level to achieve the grand accomplishment in cultivation, with each level having its own unique marvels.

From the literal meaning alone, it was hard to see the marvels within, and Lin Fei felt the same way.

"Ninefold Heart Method, a top-tier Profound Art, incomplete version, not recommended for cultivation (Note: This Profound Art was submitted by a disciple after slaying someone. Once the Profound Qi reaches the first level, it undergoes a tremendous transformation, surpassing ordinary Profound Qi... The only regret is that this Profound Art... is extremely difficult to master, requiring a high level of comprehension. Unfortunately, the subsequent cultivation methods are missing, and it can only be cultivated up to the ninth level of the Martial Dao...)"

Without reading the introduction to the Ninefold Heart Method, it was hard to understand its subtleties.

"Hehe, my luck is really good. The Ninefold Heart Method suits me perfectly. Comprehension is no problem for me. Once I cultivate the Ninefold Profound Qi, its power will surpass that of ordinary people. If I use a Yellow Rank Profound Art, I might be able to kill the opponent with one move, right?"

Lin Fei couldn't help but think to himself.

Flipping through the Ninefold Heart Method in his hand, Lin Fei had a sudden question, "Could it be that each level of the Ninefold Heart Method has its own separate section, forming the true Ninefold Heart Method?"

Unable to figure it out, he decided to post a task to find the missing parts.

If it were someone else, they might just switch to another Profound Art.

But Lin Fei couldn't do that. The task system had been inadvertently activated, and changing the Profound Art was not an option.

"The Ninefold Heart Method is not bad. As for the other incomplete parts, I'll go out and ask the elder in charge of the Skill Pavilion about the origin of the Ninefold Heart Method."

...

The Profound Art was settled.

Lin Fei felt much more relaxed. The next step was to choose an auxiliary Profound Art.

At the fourth level of the Martial Dao, the Profound Qi in the body had just begun to circulate. Cultivating a high-level Profound Art was not a good idea.

Lin Fei had already planned to learn a broad and open fist technique, symbolizing a straightforward approach.

The "One Cut, Two Sever" saber technique was sharp and unpredictable, but that was not enough. He also had the "Indestructible Body of the Buddha" at the initial level, so learning a fist technique was necessary.

The best defense is continuous attack.

Lin Fei firmly believed in this. Attack, and attack again, until the opponent had no chance to counter. The power of the Indestructible Body, combined with a fierce fist technique, would be the most formidable in the world.

A powerful fist technique was enough.

"Overlord Fist Technique, top-tier Profound Art, no."

"Great Annihilation Fist Technique, second-tier Profound Art, no."

"Flowing Cloud Divine Fist, second-tier Profound Art, no."

...

In the end, according to the requirements, Lin Fei chose the "Eight Directions and Six Realms Fist," a third-tier Profound Art, as his auxiliary Profound Art.

At the Skill Pavilion, at the registration desk.

"Are you sure you want to learn the Ninefold Heart Method?"

A hint of surprise flashed across the face of the gray-robed elder, who usually showed no emotion. The Ninefold Heart Method had existed for a long time, but few people were willing to cultivate it. Those who succeeded were all extremely talented.

Lin Fei's heart skipped a beat, and he couldn't help but feel nervous, thinking he might not be able to cultivate it. He maintained a calm expression and asked foolishly, "Senior Brother, can't the Ninefold Heart Method be cultivated? It sounds very powerful, and it seems to suit me."

The gray-robed elder didn't know what to say.

"The Ninefold Heart Method is not a self-created Profound Art of the Divine Martial Sect. This Profound Art was obtained by a disciple of the Divine Martial Sect. Many people once cultivated it, and its power was remarkable. However, the only regret is that once you reach the grand accomplishment, if you don't have the next Profound Art, your strength will stagnate. Unless absolutely necessary, do not cultivate it!"

The gray-robed elder felt it was necessary to give a warning.

Although the outer sect disciples were not as prestigious as the inner sect disciples, they were still part of the Divine Martial Sect. Moreover, this young man looked foolish and might not know the origins, possibly being misled by someone.

"Can't this Profound Art be changed halfway through?"

Lin Fei asked curiously.

"Ha ha, in the past, some people regretted cultivating it and tried to switch to other Profound Arts. Unfortunately, this Profound Art has a strong exclusivity. No matter what Profound Art you cultivate, the Profound Qi generated will be suppressed and unusable."

Lin Fei was shocked and thought to himself, "Damn, the Ninefold Heart Method is indeed powerful. No wonder I triggered the task system. It seems it's my destiny."

"Thank you, Senior Brother, for your guidance. I still want to cultivate this Profound Art."

Lin Fei said gratefully.

The gray-robed elder was still surprised. As an elder of the Skill Pavilion, it was his duty to guide the younger generation. How they chose was none of his business. Moreover, he had already seen that this disciple had average talent. If he could cultivate the Ninefold Heart Method, it would be enough, depending on his comprehension. With that, he wouldn't remind him again.

"Profound Art 'Ninefold Heart Method,' third-tier Profound Art 'Eight Directions and Six Realms Fist,' you must return them to the Skill Pavilion within one month. If they are lost, you must report it immediately..."

...

Returning from the Skill Pavilion.

Lin Fei returned to his residence.

Within the Divine Martial Sect, any disciple who advanced to the fourth level of the Martial Dao would receive a small courtyard for individual cultivation, free from external interference. This was a good welfare measure for the Divine Martial Sect, and the first goal for outer sect disciples to strive for.

After returning to his residence.

Lin Fei took out the "Ninefold Heart Method," "Eight Directions and Six Realms Fist," and "Jade Shattering Hand," three Profound Arts, one of which was a Yellow Rank lower-grade Profound Art worth ten thousand taels of silver.

Lin Fei was determined to learn the "Ninefold Heart Method."

Regardless of its flaws, the task system had already bound it, so there was no way he would give up.

A few days ago, he defeated Zhang Chongsheng on the arena and took his Yellow Rank Profound Art by surprise. If the opponent had used various Profound Arts, the outcome would have been disastrous. Lin Fei was well aware of this.

The second crisis was looming, and Lin Fei felt a strong sense of urgency. The most pressing matter now was to quickly enhance his strength, as time was running out.

"The Ninefold Heart Method has ten levels. Once I reach the fourth level of the Ninefold Heart Method, if I encounter a martial artist of Zhang Chongshan's level again, I won't have to worry. I can easily defeat them."

Lack of talent is not a problem.

Lack of comprehension is not a problem.

As long as the upgrade system is there, it can be solved.

This is why Lin Fei was so confident. He could cultivate the "Ninefold Heart Method" to the fourth level in a short time, making up for the deficiency in Profound Qi.

"Once I reach the fourth level of the Ninefold Heart Method and the 'Eight Directions and Six Realms Fist' at least to the initial level, who will fear me then?"

A cold glint flashed in Lin Fei's eyes as he picked up the "Ninefold Heart Method."

"Discovered the Profound Art 'Ninefold Heart Method.' Player Lin Fei, do you want to learn it?"

With the prompt from the upgrade system, Lin Fei finally felt at ease, a smile unconsciously appearing on his face.

"Learn it!"
