In the midst of cherry blossoms dancing in the wind, Misaki opened the old diary and read the words of promise written there.

Bak, with his battlefield mindset, still believed that one of the twin sisters needed to be capable in combat, at least to be able to escape danger, so he could feel at ease.

The children who had experienced hardships were not pampered; they even showed a more intense passion than Bak had imagined. Every morning and evening, they ran with Bak to the riverbank about a kilometer away, and began to learn basic combat skills on the sandy beach by the river.

Then they ran back home. The advantage of being twins was that there was always someone to practice with. The two progressed at almost the same rate, which made Bak nostalgic for the days when he and his comrades rolled and crawled in the training camps of Eastern Europe.

Now, most of those comrades were already dead...

It was just a fleeting moment of reflection, and Bak could still control himself from thinking about those memories he dared not recall.

What could adjust his mood, of course, were the twin sisters, or rather, a pair of flowers that could understand his words.

Ancient people liked to compare understanding and considerate girls to flowers that could understand words, and now it seemed to aptly describe the Nan Nan sisters.

Nan Nan was the general term Liu Shufen used for the two sisters, individually known as Xiao Yi and Xiao Zhao. Having spent years teaching all kinds of mischievous children, she felt especially sympathetic towards these two sisters who had experienced hardships. The children responded with a maturity beyond their years.

What was originally a simple family of three now became a joyful and warm haven filled with laughter.

Xiao Yi, who was more prone to crying, was also more outgoing and liked to take responsibility, trying to protect and care for her sister. She was more agile and intelligent, and was usually by Bak's side when he did things. As soon as he raised his hand, the corresponding items were already there.

Xiao Zhao was more introverted and quiet, often preferring to sit quietly and observe. Perhaps having witnessed her mother's death, she also craved a sense of security, so she usually liked to lean on her family, either her sister or Bak, and at the very least, Liu Shufen. However, Bak noticed that the one who was more thoughtful and came up with clever ideas was often the younger sister.

Even though they were twins, each had their own independent personality and character.

At least Shen Yinan was much more reserved. When she was still a little beggar, she almost never spoke, and Bak thought she was mute. It was only later that he learned that even her hoarse voice was a deliberate act to appear cautious, as her mother had instructed.

So for this woman whose appearance and demeanor were worlds apart from a beggar, whom Bak had only seen once, he had some doubts.

Shen Yinan, however, was open about everything, though there wasn't much concrete information. After all, when their mother fled with them, she was only about ten years old. She only knew that it was a large family, and her father treated her poorly, especially after giving birth to the twin sisters and not a son. He would often beat and scold her. According to Xiao Zhao, their mother knew she would be divorced and expelled from the family, and would not have the right to raise her daughters, so she decided to flee with the two girls.

She dared not return home or contact her old circle. With limited savings and no practical life skills, the once pampered young lady ended up homeless and in poor health.

The three ID cards could also prove something. The address in a city in western Sichuan, and a quick inquiry with the train conductor on that route would reveal the reputation of the Shen family in that city.

Given the intense hatred and disgust the twin sisters felt towards the Shen family, Bak kept the three ID cards hidden. The sisters would be known as Bak's older and younger sisters.

Liu Shufen initially thought her son's choice of names was a bit casual, but the sisters liked it. Xiao Zhao said it sounded like the name of a pug, and that she would be part of the Bak family!

They strongly needed a sense of belonging.

So the more time they spent with Bak, the more affectionate and clingy they became.

Even Fang Lingying, who watched them, was surprised and gave Bak a thumbs up: "Your sisters? I didn't know you had sisters. They're so beautiful, and they'll be amazing when they grow up. Your shop was already an 80, but with them, it's a perfect 100."

Bak was proud: "Yeah, they have to be successful, not like me." His intention was that they shouldn't become killers like him. Xiao Zhao, who was now practicing with knives, showed a bit of ruthlessness, which made Bak a bit hesitant, but the current white-collar lady also seemed a bit off. If she could be taught to be well-mannered, it would be better.

Fang Lingying's gaze changed, starting from his gloves: "You're not bad either, at least you're a small boss now, and your monthly income is higher than mine. Keep it up, and try to find a good partner. Your parents would be happy." She was purely teasing, and Bak gave her a brotherly vibe, but his education... was a bit lacking. She saw from the police station's records that this guy had even studied abroad, but could a diploma from a diploma mill really count? Some things the girl had to consider more carefully.

Bak teased back: "Hasn't that Officer Shao been bothering you lately? I think he's quite interested in you."

Fang Lingying made a T with her hands: "Stop! Don't mention him... I've had enough trouble at work, and he keeps calling to harass me."

Bak didn't ask more, just smiled and continued flipping the meat on the grill. Xiao Yi lightly floated over, and Bak could only tell who it was by the length of their hair, but he knew that in a few days, their hair would grow longer, and he wouldn't know what to do. The little girl politely greeted Fang Lingying: "Hello, sister..."

Fang Lingying happily tried to pull the little girl over to sit: "Are you the older sister or the younger sister? I've never heard him mention you before. You're like little fairies from heaven."

Ba Da Mei was obedient: "We rely entirely on our brother to take care of us. He can talk to you, but I need to clear the dishes."

Her words deliberately protected Bak and left space for the two of them. Fang Lingying wrinkled her nose and smiled: "These two little sisters, in a few years, will be enough to keep you busy!"

Bak nodded in agreement: "They're already enough to keep me busy. Before, I could just eat and make my parents happy, but now, I have to expand the business."

Fang Lingying didn't think her home-cooked dishes were being spread: "That's the right attitude. Wherever you go, you have to adapt. Since you're expanding the business, you need to look like you're making money. Not to criticize, but at the beginning, you were quite laid-back. Go on, go on... little sister, come collect the money, hehe... take the opportunity to see the difference between the sisters."

Bak was intrigued and asked for advice: "Have you noticed any differences?" When it came to facial recognition, she was an expert, right?

Fang Lingying frowned and sighed: "Really, except for the length of their hair, I can't tell any difference. Unless I get a chance to feel their facial bones and muscles... go on, go on, thinking about it is annoying."

Bak didn't ask about her work, just gave her his new phone number. As a result, the sisters, who usually took turns playing with his cheap knockoff phone for photos and games, didn't ask Bak for it anymore. They preferred to ask Liu Shufen for the old flip phone to play Snake.

Very considerate!

Bak felt they were overthinking it.

So the next evening, Fang Lingying called him at nine, asking Bak to deliver some takeout. She was starving and didn't want to leave. Bak admired her dedication to studying facial bones, so he went to the small supermarket and bought two boxes of yogurt milk. With the enthusiastic encouragement of Liu Changyuan and the two sisters, he took the meat and vegetables over.

This time, they especially promised not to cause any trouble and to not disturb Bak's date with the big sister.

Just delivering takeout, and a date?!

Bak really didn't have such thoughts, not at all.
