Chapter 51

Bak remained in his own world, driving this well-performing Passat, planning to keep it for himself. He even turned on the CD to select songs, completely ignoring the sad emotions behind him.

Mu Chenfei had put her phone on speaker mode, mainly to avoid holding it to her face. Her mother was crying inside, and now, hearing the vulgar pop songs Bak played, she frowned and endured it: "Point the rearview mirror at me."

Bak glanced back and did as she asked. Mu Chenfei, while speaking to her mother with a slightly tearful voice, mentioned that she had been rescued and that she had a slight fever and cold, not sleeping well. She also opened a video to show the environment to the other side. Bak didn't stop her, and Mu Chenfei then started to tidy her disheveled hair in the rearview mirror. Finally, she even placed the phone on the center console between the front seats, focusing entirely on her appearance!

Then she made a series of demands over the phone for a makeup kit, various cosmetics, and skincare products!

She stopped crying!

It was truly amazing.

Even more amazing was that the other side stopped crying too, and a male voice, deep and resonant, said: "Give the phone to that young man."

Mu Chenfei, with her hand in her hair, said casually: "Here, you talk." She didn't realize how casual her tone was.

Bak grunted to show he had heard, and the voice on the other end was straightforward: "Where are you? Give us the exact location, we'll meet up, and hurry."

Bak looked around: "Meet us at the eastern suburban highway exit. It's about the same distance for both sides, and I'm about 80-90 kilometers from the city. I'll go get some gas."

He turned the car into a gas station nearby. Mu Chenfei, who was well-mannered, quickly lowered her head and said into the phone: "Gas station, I'm hanging up, I'll call back later."

Bak opened the passenger door and asked the girl who had hung up: "Can I take some money from this bag to get gas?"

Mu Chenfei looked down on him: "If I tell you to take it, it's yours!"

Bak searched and found some money that wasn't Hong Kong dollars, took a stack, and said to the gas attendant in a brash, wealthy manner: "Fill it up! Can I buy some good cigarettes and alcohol?" It felt so good!

But the attendant, who was just working, didn't give him any face: "Go buy them yourself in the convenience store!"

Bak laughed and went in, really buying a few packs of good cigarettes, two bottles of good alcohol, and a bunch of snacks, as well as some wet wipes. He opened the back door and placed them on the money bags, and said to the girl who had taken up two-thirds of the back seat: "Feel free to use anything, it's on me..."

Mu Chenfei, for some reason, really wanted to laugh and looked down on his... indescribable vulgar charm.

But she immediately took out the wet wipes and used them. The skincare creams and other things Bak bought on the side, which she looked down on, she didn't use.

Finally, everything was settled, especially since Mu Chenfei cleverly spread a wet wipe on her face as an emergency hydrating mask, determined to salvage her facial skin, which was a big deal to her, before getting any supplies!

She was around twenty, just blossoming, was it really that serious?

They didn't talk anymore. When the phone was redialed, her muffled voice didn't cause any noise. The call remained open, and occasionally someone would shout, and they would lazily respond.

When Bak got back in the car, he put the remaining money back in the ransom bag. At this point, he wondered if he should take another bill for the phone call?

The remaining time was short, about half an hour. The heavy Passat smoothly arrived at the highway toll station Bak had agreed on. They only waited two minutes, and a large convoy of vehicles came surging in!

They arrogantly demanded the barrier be opened at the toll station, turned around in unison, and surrounded the Passat.

Bak's expression remained calm as he propped his chin on his left hand and looked out the window. Mu Chenfei lay back with a wet wipe on her face, ignoring the outside world.

They didn't get out of the car, and Bak didn't even turn off the engine.

Until a young-looking, beautiful middle-aged woman jumped out of a luxury GMC, her expression pained but without tears, and her makeup intact. She came over, and Bak, with just one look, confirmed she was Mu Chenfei's mother, because of their similar emphasis on appearance and her well-maintained looks, which were only a bit older than Mu Chenfei's, though not as strikingly beautiful. She unlocked the car door and turned off the engine: "Hey, your mom is here."

Mu Chenfei finally pulled the wet wipe off her face. The door was opened by a bodyguard, and her mother rushed in but was a bit reluctant about the dirty interior of the Passat. Fortunately, Mu Chenfei quickly jumped out and threw herself into her mother's arms, sobbing: "Hydrating... collagen... mask... change clothes..." Her mother cried with her, and then they hugged each other like conjoined twins and returned to the white luxury van, which had a large, luxurious leather bed in the back, making it the perfect vehicle for celebrities and wealthy families.

Two doctors with medical kits got in, and the heavy door slammed shut. Then part of the convoy immediately followed the van and left.

On Bak's side, no one even closed the Passat's door.

He wasn't in a hurry and continued to watch the vehicles and over ten people surrounding him.

A middle-aged man in a double-breasted suit, exuding the air of a successful person, got out of a Bentley, accompanied by several people, walked a few meters, and got into the back seat where Mu Chenfei had been sitting. The people outside closed the door.

"Mu Tianbo, what's your name, young man?"

Bak replied briefly: "My name doesn't matter. This was set up by some Uncle Cheng. I'm just a car washer. Ask the young lady for the details."

Mu Tianbo, in his fifties, with an air of authority, clearly used to being in charge: "Mu Chenfei is my daughter. I formally thank you for this. What do you need as a reward? Name your price." He was generous enough not to ask Bak's name, knowing that his daughter had said he was an employee at the car wash, and it wouldn't be hard to find out more.

Bak half-turned and pointed to the black bags in the back: "Just give me whatever you think is fair."

Mu Tianbo focused on Bak's eyes. His ability to read people was far superior to his daughter's. He looked at Bak intently: "Alright, I'll give you 500,000. Please keep this secret, as if it never happened."

If Mu Chenfei were there, she would be surprised: 500,000?

Not to mention that the kidnappers had demanded 20 million, which her father had paid. Just for not being harmed, she would think any amount would be worth it.

For the daughter of the Mu family to be kidnapped and rescued, only 500,000?

It would be embarrassing to say!

But Bak blinked and nodded: "Thank you, Mr. Mu... I'll drive this car back. My home is quite far, okay?"

Mu Tianbo's expression didn't change: "Not too little? There are 10 to 20 million in cash here! I've already paid the kidnappers!" He was indeed wealthy.

Bak smiled: "You get what you pay for. You think your daughter is priceless, but I think what I did is worth this much." This wasn't a lie. 500,000, or less than 100,000 USD, was a high price for a one or two-day job, killing seven not very strong guys.

One should be content.

Mu Tianbo's casual gaze lingered on Bak's face. His words were somewhat unexpected, but perhaps also expected. He smiled and, before getting out of the car, said: "I'll give you 1 million. You know what to do and what not to do. I don't like seeing those long, drawn-out, overconfident things!"

Bak didn't ponder the implications, just bowed respectfully: "Thank you, sir..."

The people behind him really came forward, took down various money bags, and then picked one from the back seat, counted out 1 million, and said: "Thank you."

The door slammed shut, and the large convoy roared away!

The Passat's suspension felt much lighter!
