Nancheng Airport.
Assistant Li stood at the arrival gate and watched the familiar figure appear around the corner.
The man walking from a distance wore a well-tailored suit with gem cuffs. When he walked, his shoulders were straight, and every step was even.
Although DuYan had been staying in Nancheng for the Xie Group, Assistant Li and DuYan were also very familiar with each other. From the walking posture, one could clearly see his style of behavior, which was rigid and rigorous.
Assistant Li watched DuYan slowly approach, and suddenly touched her face.
She had known President Xie for so many years, and she always felt that time treated him with preference. The crow's feet at the corner of her eyes could no longer be concealed, but President Xie still looked like when they first met, ageless.
Except for the increasingly calm aura on his body, which let people know that he was not a young man in his early twenties, it was impossible to infer his specific age from the handsome face or the upright posture.
She suddenly came up with an idea to ask President Xie how he maintained his skin. Then she thought about it again. There was a saying on the Internet that said that wrinkles would not appear if they had few expressions.
Assistant Li thought about President Xie’s expression on weekdays, and felt that it was really too difficult for her to remain expressionless for twenty-four hours.
"Assistant Li?"
The shrewd female assistant rarely showed such embarrassment. She recovered her senses and quickly apologized, "My apologies, President Xie, I was distracted.”
DuYan didn't care about this harmless little mistake, "You are now the Director of Human Resources, so you didn’t have to come here in person to pick me up.”
The plane was late, and it was close to midnight when it arrived. Assistant Li, or HR Director Li, should have been very busy at work during the day, but she still came to pick him up, and it was already 2am in the middle of the night.
DuYan felt that she didn't need to come in person, and he also wasn't someone who cared about these little details.
Director Li smiled, "You are different. Over these past few years, President Xie has taught me a lot of things, and promoted me to this position.”
DuYan glanced at her, nodded. He didn’t say anything about the Xie Group changing hands, so there was no need to call him President Xie anymore.
After all, these kinds of words sounded like the prideful words of a struggling but losing dog.
DuYan came to Nancheng this time to deal with the change of ownership of the Xie Group. But instead of feeling frustrated, he felt an expectation that he could finally retire and wait for a good meal.
The Xie Group changed its ownership, and most of the shares held by DuYan had been sold. But the series of steps wasn’t as simple as just DuYan stepping down as president and being kicked out by the Board of Directors.
In addition to the operation of the investment company that came from nowhere, there were also Xie BoShun’s internal members playing tricks as well as DuYan’s own tactics. Otherwise, with his overreaching control, even if the mysterious investment company was powerful, the Xie Group would not be given to Xie BoShun.
DuYan was not stupid. The investment company that appeared out of thin air to support Xie BoShun's seizure of the Xie Group must have something to do with HeJin who had disappeared for eight years.
After the death of his grandfather that year, DuYan about HeJin’s future road of revenge. Instead of gathering power, he deliberately let go of Xie BoShun’s faction.
During his eight years in power, he turned a blind eye to Xie BoShun's small movements, and only suppressed them when the opponent was too much.
However, in the past two years, Xie BoShun had become increasingly deteriorating. Seeing his increasingly aging appearance, DuYan was a little worried. Before HeJin would appear to kill the villain, Xie BoShun as his helper would see Grandfather Xie first.
When there were changes in the Xie Group and the mysterious investment company used different methods, DuYan no longer suppressed Xie BoShun, but instead allowed the people he planted in the group to make many moves.
All this was the result that DuYan expected.
He looked at the street view outside the window, and the corner of his mouth slightly hooked.
This play, which had been suspended for eight years, was finally playing again. This time, he would definitely perform it smoothly to the end.
The car stopped in a familiar community. DuYan was not used to living in a new place and the property in Nancheng was never dealt with.
The Xie Group was headquartered in Nancheng. Over the years, DuYan had also traveled frequently between the two cities. When he went to Nancheng on business, he would live in the place that he was used to.
It was getting late, and the breeze rustled the row of bamboo used to cover the low fence. The air in Nancheng was much clearer than that of Beicheng. He entered the cobblestone trail, and looked at the distant sky. They were all colored the same dusty blue.
Today's moonlight was particularly good. The outdoor lights in the garden were not lit, but the road ahead could be seen completely.
People came to take care of the garden regularly. Even if no one lived in the house, the garden was still thriving. Nancheng had a subtropical climate, and the flowers, plants and trees grew particularly well.
DuYan walked along the front garden to the villa gate, and stopped when he passed the fish pond.
The koi inside was growing well. Even though the owner did not live there regularly, the property management was very responsible in feeding the fish. When they had first moved in, the koi were just the size of a palm, but now they were 40 to 50 centimeters long.
Looking at the koi swimming in the water, DuYan suddenly remembered that boy back then, the young man named HeJin.
After DuYan bought the villa, he directly handed it over to the design company. After moving in, he discovered that a fish pond had been dug in the garden with several koi.
He didn't have the time to raise koi. At first, the gardener was in charge of this work, but then afterwards HeJin slowly took over it.
The reason was very simple. During the three years of high school, in order to prevent HeJin from going out and messing up his life, DuYan gave him a curfew.
At the beginning, HeJin had a restless temperament. When he was vexed by the studying, he would go around the garden and fiddle with the koi. After he played with them for a long time, and had more experience in raising them, the koi grew very fast in those three years.
"HeJin, that child, is quite capable. Do one subject, and he will master that subject.” DuYan suddenly sighed.
Xiao Ba asked, "What is it. You haven’t seen him for so many years so now you miss him?”
"I just think that the child has grown up now. Although there is me to release the water (T/N: relinquish his power), having the ability to manipulate such a large amount of capital to help Xie BoShun seize power, is very good.”
Xiao Ba couldn't help but vomit, "I think your current mentality is especially like an old man with an empty nest. Who misses their children that are roaming outside.”
DuYan sighed with emotion, "The wind sweeping through the tower heralds a rising storm in the mountains ah (T/N: Thanks Baidu lol) (1). At this time, it is always easy for people to think of the past.”
After the conversation with Xiao Ba in his mind, he didn’t stay any longer and turned around to open the door.
The living room was empty. DuYan did not add furniture to the living room since HeJin moved all the furniture here to Beicheng. DuYan wasn’t going to stay here permanently anyway, and the living room would not be used at all.
His material needs had always been very weak, and he could live here for a few days. There was no need for anything else.
DuYan didn't turn on the light in the living room, and went straight up the stairs to the second floor.
Today's moonlight was particularly good, it blatantly poured onto the ground through the windows, illuminating the stairs before DuYan.
He pushed open the bedroom door. There was not much inside. But compared to the empty living room, it was a bit better, at least there was a bed and a sofa.
DuYan put the suitcase in the closet and laid on the bed after washing up.
After becoming the head of the Xie Family, DuYan had a lot of things to do, and there was very little time to spare. This time, due to Xie Group changing hands. He had spent three full days in Beicheng, and the total sleeping time did not exceed 15 hours.
Then he rushed all the way to Nancheng. As soon as he lay on the bed, his fatigue surged, and he soon fell into a deep sleep.
Just after the person on the bed was breathing smoothly, the bedroom door was gently pushed open.
The tall figure flashed in lightly and walked to the bed without making a sound.
When DuYan slept, he didn’t like to close the blackout curtains, because it would cause his brain to feel unable to wake up when he wakes up in the morning.
Tonight's particularly bright moonlight illuminated the room quite clearly through the thin veil, which happened to aid the unbridled sight of the person next to the bed.
He stood by the bed and stared at the person on the bed for a long time.
Until the noisy wind outside all quieted down. He only bent down and narrowed the distance between the two.
During the eight years, no trace was left on DuYan's face. When he dreamed at night, he would trace this face imprinted in the deepest part of his heart in his mind countless times, and he would rehearse the scene of meeting each other again many times.
Now that he saw him, he was still at a loss.
He maintained the bent over position. When he found DuYan’s breathing to be disorderly, he straightened up quickly for fear of waking up DuYan.
In the end, he only stretched out his hand and traced the outline of the person on the bed at a distance.
He stood by the bed for a long time, just as he did eight years ago.
The sky was slowly brightening and the clouds were starting to appear looking like the belly of the fish (2). The man who had almost solidified into a sculpture suddenly returned to his senses and left the room lightly.
