"What do you mean by saying this?" HeJin stopped and turned to face Fang Xiangxiang.
"Ah?" Fang Xiangxiang looked up at HeJin’s expression. When she saw that he wasn’t going to get angry, she mustered the courage to continue, “That’s--I think that your guardian will be very proud and happy to know about this matter.”
"Happy? Would they?" HeJin frowned. He was unable to imagine how DuYan’s cold face would look if he was happy.
"Of course they would. Don’t you also hope for your family to be proud of you?”
“En……"
HeJin nodded halfway, and then suddenly reacted. What the hell! Earlier, he had clearly made up his mind to confront DuYan, and wanted to anger the person half dead, but now he wanted him (DY) to be proud?
Heh, the thoughts were truly beautiful. HeJin was definitely not going to do such a stupid thing such as wearing the big red flower and be commended just to make DuYan proud.
"I'm not interested." HeJin responded, then turned to leave when the phone rang again.
“Hello.”
"Hi, hello, this is Assistant Li."
"En, what is it?” HeJin once met the person who called herself Assistant Li. It was her who came to help him move last time. She was middle aged, very capable, and with one glance he could tell that this was the type that DuYan valued.
"Hello, President Xie didn’t answer the phone, so I’m guessing that he’s driving. I was wondering, how long has it been since President Xie left your school?”
"What's wrong? Is it an emergency?" HeJin didn't answer her directly.
"It’s like this, there was a very important meeting this morning, but President Xie said that he had to attend your opening ceremony, so he postponed it for three hours. The meeting is about to begin, but he still hasn’t arrived, so I thought to call and ask.”
"So you’re saying that he put off his work in order to come to the opening ceremony?"
"Yes, President Xie is a very strict person at work. He has never put off his work." Assistant Li's business tone became a little softer, "Although President Xie always looks serious, he cares about his family.”
Assistant Li was forty this year. The children in her family were about the same age as HeJin. She knew her boss’ character, and probably understood that children at this age were not very good at communication. Out of kindness, she said a few more words to HeJin.
"He should be there soon." HeJin paused, then asked again, "Has he been busy with work lately?"
"Yes, since President Xie has just arrived, he needed to understand the situation of all the departments… So President Xie couldn't help you move that day." Assistant Li spared no effort to help her boss ease the parent-child relationship.
After HeJin hung up the phone, there was something in his heart that could not be explained clearly.
This was the first time that someone came to his opening ceremony. Before, in the Zhou family, although Uncle Zhou was very good to him and met any requirement, but he was usually too busy at work, and HeJin also knew that he owed a lot to the family. When encountering this kind of thing, he was naturally embarrassed to ask the other party to attend.
Although HeJin was a little angry when he was woken up in the morning, he was still pleased to hear that DuYan was going to attend the opening ceremony.
It was precisely because of this sense of expectation that when he learned that DuYan had left so early, he didn’t hesitate to get angry.
HeJin squeezed the phone tightly. It turned out that that person, towards himself, was not as indifferent as he seemed. Although his temper was impulsive, he was not stupid.
A self-disciplined Virgo like DuYan who was willing to postpone work to attend the opening ceremony for a nephew who he had never met before, showed that deep down in his heart, he still cared about his family.
When he thought up to here, the corners of HeJin's lips rose slightly. He walked over and made up his mind as he faced Fang Xiangxiang, "That award you mentioned, for being a good samaritan, how do you get it?”
When HeJin answered the phone, Fang Xiangxiang consciously walked to the bench and sat down.
Her head was hanging down when she saw a shadow suddenly before her. Fang Xiangxiang looked up and saw the corners of HeJin's lips rising and the smiling eyes.
Against the red maple leaves, the whole person was actually a bit warmer than the background.
Fang Xiangxiang only felt the tips of her ears starting to heat up. She felt that when she stayed with this boy called HeJin, the feelings were not the same.
Girls all matured early.
Fang Xiangxiang thought about it. She obviously liked her neighbor's little gege type. (T/N: older bro, not actually siblings.) But how was her heartbeat speeding up because of a rebellious boy like HeJin.
It must be because the autumn weather was too dry, and it must be because the campus on the first day of school was too noisy.
"The class meeting should start soon, let's talk while walking." Fang Xiangxiang stood up.
The boy and girl with different thoughts went towards the classroom together like this.
...
DuYan hung up the phone and let out a long sigh.
In all of his thousands of calculations, he didn’t calculate that HeJin would actually call him to ask why he left.
In this dream world, the character DuYan set for himself was the type that HeJin hated the most. It could be seen from getting along these days that HeJin absolutely repelled him.
Logically speaking, when the important plot in the movie happened, the little miss who fell in love with him at first sight would be waiting for him, and HeJin should have completely forgotten his annoying parent.
How does he respond to this sudden call?
Fortunately, DuYan's mind turned fast. When HeJin called the third time, he had already thought of a good reason, and then picked it up.
He turned on the turn signal and stopped the car somewhere.
"Fortunately, I react quickly." DuYan said to Xiao Ba.
Xiao Ba was a little speechless, "You only had to say that you had another meeting to go to, and had to go back to work. Because of work, you can’t bother about the nephew or something, it fits the character setting.”
DuYan said, "You only look at it from one side, but not the other. Looking at it from another angle, I’m rushing back to work. But I also pushed off work to attend the school’s opening ceremony. How could I be a ruthless parent.”
"But I didn't expect you to work so hard and care about company matters."
In the past few days, DuYan had been working overtime almost every day, causing him to sleep in the company.
"The company here is the key to my stable position." DuYan put his slender fingers on the steering wheel and tapped casually. "I’m not actually a part of the Xie family. Although no one knows yet, it will explode one day in the struggle between the powerful family members.”
DuYan didn't tell Xiao Ba every step of his consideration, so Xiao Ba also didn't know many of the details or intentions.
Xiao Ba asked, "Actually, I don't quite understand why you wanted to set yourself up with an adopted son status and make everything more difficult.”
Xiao Ba wanted to ask something, but stopped when he heard DuYan’s cell phone ring.
DuYan turned his head to see that Assistant Li was calling. He thought that since he was about to arrive at the company soom, he didn’t bother to waste time stopping the car to answer the phone.
What DuYan didn’t expect was that just because he was too lazy to receive the call, all the indifferent settings he built before HeJin were all completely demolished by his assistant.
Fortunately, the important part in the movie in which they first met and intersected, was completed in a distorted way.
