Chapter 35

Three days after such a great misunderstanding erupted—
Cecilia went to Emily's hospital room with Dante.
By their side, Mordred was fidgeting restlessly. He kept glancing at Dante, his brows furrowed with worry.
Ignoring Mordred, Dante placed his hand over Emily's eyes. Instantly, a gust of wind strong enough to flutter the curtains swept through the room.
"Whoa!"
A faint light enveloped Emily, converging around her chest. At the same time, the wind stopped.
"Done."
"Really, just like that?"
Mordred alternated his gaze between the sleeping Emily and Dante.
Dante shrugged as usual.
"Sure?"
"‘Sure?’ What do you mean by that…"
"Why don't you ask her herself?"
Dante's gaze shifted to Emily. Mordred and Cecilia followed his lead, looking at her.
"Come on, Sleeping Beauty, it's time to wake up."
Before Dante could finish speaking, Emily's eyelids twitched. Then, they slowly opened, revealing eyes the same color as Mordred's.
"Emily?"
"…Big brother?"
At the sound of her hoarse voice, Mordred covered his mouth and tears streamed down his face.
On the way back from the hospital, Dante and Cecilia walked side by side.
According to Emily's doctor, she would need some rehabilitation to regain her lost muscle strength, but if there were no abnormalities after that, she could be discharged at any time. They were to start examining her brain and body for any abnormalities from tomorrow.
"I can't believe there was a way like this…"
Cecilia murmured, recalling the miracle that had just unfolded before her eyes. Dante, with his usual smile, was twirling his Noble Phantasm with his finger.
"My Noble Phantasm isn't for putting people to sleep; it's for controlling sleep. I can only use it to wake people up to this extent, but I thought it might work after hearing her story."
Three days ago, he had said, "I heard Emily's story and had an idea," which apparently referred to this.
(Come to think of it, Dante was the only one not there for the first visit…)
That day, he couldn't be found to be called, but if he had come, Emily might have woken up earlier.
(Still, it's probably for the best that Bernard was caught. All's well that ends well.)
Bernard was now in custody of the military police and had been transferred to a noble-only prison. In this world of noble society, it was unclear what punishment would be meted out to the son of a marquis, but it would be difficult for him to inherit his title. He had siblings, so he might be disowned from the Broussais family, which might be for the best to escape the feud with the Colson family. Of course, this was just a personal opinion.
(Well, it's all over now!)
Cecilia felt a rare sense of relief. All the problems that had been troubling her recently had been resolved at once. Naturally, she felt good.
Incidentally, she hadn't told Mordred about the Killer. Lean, who had suffered the most, had said, "There's no need to say anything. If I don't have to go through that again, I don't care!" So, the identity of the Killer remained a secret known only to those who knew.
(Oscar's case needs to be thought through properly…)
One of her concerns was the confession from the other day. However, with the person himself acting as if nothing had happened, there was nothing she could do. She couldn't bring up the issue without being asked, and even if she were asked, she didn't know how to respond.
(Still, I feel like I'm forgetting something…)
Walking beside Dante, Cecilia looked up at the sky.
(The Killer issue is resolved, and Emily is awake. Why did I want to wake Emily up again…?)
"Ah!"
She stopped in her tracks, startled. Dante, noticing her, turned and called, "Cecil?"
"Sorry, Dante! Go on ahead without me!"
"Huh?"
Dante let out a surprised cry as Cecilia suddenly turned and headed straight for Grace's laboratory.
"Grace, please become a priestess!"
"No way."
Grace flatly rejected Cecilia's bowed head.
Taken aback by the blunt refusal, Cecilia was left speechless.
"Why…"
"I'm busy collecting voices for my teacher. I also need to further improve the phonograph, as the Silvius family is providing funding."
"But, you know! If you become a priestess, you can be with Professor Mordred all the time!"
(You have to be in a romantic relationship, though.)
She barely managed to hold back those words. There was no point in revealing that obstacle now. Besides, she had a feeling that these two might work out without any effort.
Mordred's expression when he looked at Grace was even gentler than when he looked at his sister Emily, and vice versa.
However, Grace shook her head at Cecilia's words.
"I'm only interested in the voice, not the body."
"Eh!?"
"Well, it's not that I'm not attracted at all, but it's just an accessory, after all."
"That's a terrible thing to say!!"
Her cheeks twitched. After all the care they showed each other, what was this?
(Maybe they're just dense!? Is that it!?)
Without considering herself, Cecilia shuddered.
"So, give up, Cecilia."
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from the back of the room. Cecilia looked behind Grace and saw Lean waving at her. She hadn't noticed her presence until now because she had bowed her head as soon as she entered the room.
"Huh? Lean!?"
"I was just talking with Grace."
Lean knew that Grace was a reincarnated person. She had planned to introduce them as fellow reincarnated individuals, but it seemed that such meddling was unnecessary.
Lean smiled and pointed at Cecilia.
"Just become a priestess yourself!"
"That's right. I think that's the quickest solution."
"Don't say such ridiculous things! If I become a priestess, I'll die! You both know that, right?"
At Cecilia's outburst, the two exchanged glances.
"Well, we do know, but… right?"
"Probably it will work out somehow. I don't know, though."
These two, despite their differences, had fundamentally similar personalities. Cecilia held her head in her hands.
"You both are treating this like it's not your problem!!"
"It is not our problem."
"Right?"
"You both are the ones involved!!"
Her anguished cry echoed through the laboratory.
The second part is now only left with the epilogue.
The third part is scheduled to be serialized after a short break!
In the third part, various resolutions, including romantic aspects, are planned.
(Although the plot hasn't been finalized yet, it's the plan.)
