Epilogue

When Janis and Marguerite fell into the sea, the curse that had plagued the townspeople disappeared. At the same time, Tino, who had been directing them, vanished, and the riot was quelled before it could start.

Janis and Marguerite were already being searched for an hour after they fell into the sea, but they were never found. Given the circumstances, they were presumed dead, and Janis's name was removed from the royal family of Northrach.

Laurent apparently resisted until the end, but in the end, he could do nothing.

After that, Cecilia, who had completed the selection ceremony, became a nominal priestess.

The ceremony was conducted in secret at the request of the state, and only the fact that a priestess had been chosen was made public, not who she was.

Then, in April, new students entered the Vruhel Academy.

The purpose of the excited new students was to learn, network, and gain experience.

And to find a "prince."

At Vruhel Academy, there is a "prince."

With hair like translucent golden threads and eyes like sapphires.

Long limbs and a gender-neutral face that captivates everyone.

Walking down the hallway without making a sound, he looks like a single white rose.

If a woman stumbles in front of him, he quickly extends his hand and whispers with a sweet smile and a honeyed voice:

"Are you hurt, my princess?"

At that moment, a chorus of high-pitched voices rises from nowhere.

The "prince's" name is Cecil Admina.

He is the temporary form of Cecilia Silvy, the duchess's daughter, who never wanted to become a priestess but ended up becoming one.

She continues to attend the academy energetically as a "prince" every day.

"Master Laurent, you have a letter."

In his room at the Northrach palace, Laurent received a letter from a servant with a lifeless expression.

It had been almost two months since Janis disappeared. He could not accept Janis's death, for which no funeral had been held, but he was still being swept away by the passing of each day.

Janis was removed from the royal family.

This alone sent shockwaves through the country, and when it was revealed that the fourth, who had not been an option, was to be the crown prince, the country fell into a bit of chaos.

To calm this chaos as quickly as possible, Laurent had been working non-stop without time to mourn Janis's death.

He loved his country, but when it came to dedicating himself to a country that treated his beloved brother as if he had never existed, he was honestly unsure.

Still, he could not bring himself to abandon the land where he had spent time with Janis, and in the end, he accepted his position.

It was then that this letter arrived.

In a state of weariness, he had been immersing himself in work as if to forget everything, when a personal letter suddenly arrived.

The sender was not named, and the seal used was one he had never seen before.

He opened the envelope. Inside was not a letter but a single painting.

A landscape.

A purple background with mountains visible in the distance. On the right side, a dead tree stands, and in the center of the canvas, a curtain of light painted in green and yellow waves.

"This is!"

Laurent hurriedly looked at the back.

On the back of the postcard-sized painting, a single message was written to him.

"I'm sorry I couldn't keep the promise."

To see the aurora together.

That promise was made by none other than Janis to Laurent.

Laurent, still holding the letter, rushed out and grabbed the servant who had just brought him the letter.

"Who is this letter from? When did it arrive?"

The servant, taken aback by this sudden behavior, was flustered.

A few other servants who happened to be there also stopped.

"No, I don't know. I was asked by Isabelle to... "

"Huh? I never asked Anne to give me anything like that."

"Wh-what!?"

Laurent gripped the letter tightly at this conversation.

Then, looking out the window, he whispered with a somewhat joyful voice, "Brother..."
