Chapter 1

Iris Tarantchuran was dreaming while lying on the cold floor of the prison.

A rabbit approached Iris and pressed its fluffy, soft fur against her. When Iris stroked its soft ears, the rabbit narrowed its eyes in satisfaction and said,

"I like it."

When Iris, surprised, tried to pull her hand back, the rabbit's pure white fur shimmered with gold, and it continued,

"I am the god of this story. You, as the villainess, were a bit too quiet, but you fulfilled your mission. However, the heroine, Mina, is not the same. Mina lacks purity and is greedy and cruel. Because of Mina, this story has ended in a rather incomplete manner. I regret having cast the roles incorrectly, so I intend to rewrite this completed story."

"W-What are you talking about...?"

Iris, already shocked by the rabbit's ability to speak, was even more shaken by its claim to be a god and its incomprehensible words. The rabbit, with its ruby-like eyes, asked Iris,

"Aren't you angry with Mina and Edgar?"

Iris, who was scheduled to be beheaded the next morning for the crime of poisoning the empress, clenched her teeth as she thought of the two people who had led to her being sent to the executioner's block. Mina, who had stolen her fiancé and testified falsely against her, and Edgar, her ex-fiancé who had betrayed her by having an affair with Mina and condemning her. Both were people who had caused Iris great pain.

"Indeed, I do hate them. But no matter what I claim now, nothing will change. People only believe the words of the holy Mina. My claims will be rejected, and I will only be further humiliated."

"What if everyone had no choice but to believe your claims?"

Iris, aware that this was a dream, thought it was impossible for such a thing to happen, but she answered,

"If it really came to that, I would take revenge on those two and everyone who has looked down on me."

The rabbit, claiming to be a god, nodded in satisfaction and said,

"Then, I will make you the holy one."

Before Iris could fully understand the meaning of these words, her body was enveloped in light. Even in the dream, Iris felt her body heat up, and the pain in her eyes forced her to close them.

"Please lead this story to its true conclusion."

When Iris opened her eyes again, she was sitting up on the hard, cold floor of the familiar prison. Her eyes felt as if they were burning.

Her heart was pounding from the lingering effects of the dream, and she noticed a red reflection in a puddle in the corner of the prison. Peering into the puddle in the dim light to identify the color, Iris recoiled in shock.

"Huh... hahaha,"

Reaching out to touch her eyes, Iris laughed and thanked the heavens.

"Thank you, God...!"

At the same moment Iris jumped up in the prison, the high priest in the temple was receiving a divine message.

"What...!?"

"Your Holiness! What's wrong!?"

"It's a divine message! Request an immediate audience with the emperor!"

As the priests hurried about, Mina, who knew nothing of this, was sleeping happily in the arms of Prince Edgar in the prince's palace. The two, who had just been married, had no worries, lying in a luxurious, spacious bed with fluffy bedding, surrounded by jewelry and dresses prepared for Mina.

Mina, once an illegitimate daughter of a rural baron, was now the envied Crown Princess. She indulged in luxury and capriciousness, manipulating the infatuated Edgar as she pleased.

Mina's popularity among the people was largely due to her pure and lovely appearance and, above all, her status as a holy maiden.

Mina's life, like that of a heroine in a grand story, was shining brightly, having achieved everything. But on this day, at the peak of her happiness, Mina's world began to crumble.

"His Highness the Crown Prince! Her Highness the Princess! Urgent news!"

Mina and Edgar, awakened from their sleep by the violent knocking, greeted the sweating head steward with obvious displeasure.

"What could be so important at this hour on our wedding night!?"

"It's a divine message. A surprising divine message has been received, and the emperor is urgently requesting an audience with both of you."

"A divine message? To make a fuss over such a thing. We have the holy maiden, Mina, who is loved by the gods. Well, if Father insists, we have no choice. Mina, can you prepare yourself?"

At that moment, the Crown Prince Edgar and the head steward, looking at Mina, were stunned.

"M-Mina..."

"Her Highness..."

"Edgar? What's wrong?"

The Crown Princess Mina, tilting her head in confusion, had ordinary brown eyes.

"Mina! What happened to your ruby eyes, the proof of your holiness!?"

"Huh...?"

Not understanding Edgar's outburst, Mina was handed a mirror by the head steward, who was trembling with fear. Peering into the mirror, Mina was shocked to see her own eyes.

"No...!"

Until today, Mina had everything because she was the holy maiden loved by the gods. However, the Mina in the mirror did not have the red, glowing ruby eyes that were the proof of her holiness. Instead, she saw her own ordinary brown eyes staring back at her in shock.

"So, the divine message was true..."

The head steward, who had collapsed in shock, was grabbed by the frustrated Edgar.

"What divine message did you receive!?"

"T-The gods... have decided to strip the false holy maiden of her status and bestow their blessing on the innocent true holy maiden..."

"What! Mina is a false holy maiden!? Who else could be the true holy maiden!?"

Pressed by Edgar, the head steward, in a daze, answered,

"According to the divine message, the true holy maiden is... ——Iris Tarantchuran——..."

Edgar and Mina both gasped and froze.

The story, which was supposed to end with the heroine Mina marrying Prince Edgar and the villainess Iris being executed, had started moving again from this early morning.
