"Anyway, all I can do is punch with my bare hands wrapped in magic."
"Actually, that's usually the harder option, isn't it?"
Why do I have these street fighter skills? I'm not even a martial artist. Besides, if I fought a martial artist, I'd probably lose.
"Ah, my thoughts are so cloudy. Let's think of something more fun!"
"You're right, miss. There are sure to be fun things at the academy."
"Really?"
"Yes, really."
If Sid says so, it might be true. I looked at him with a broad smile.
"Of course, I'll take care of you, miss."
Sid always says that with a smile. But as a purple mage, he should be in high demand all over the world. I feel bad that he continues to serve me so diligently out of gratitude to my late father.
"Hey, is it okay for you to be my bodyguard? I mean, it's not every day you get to protect a noble beauty like me."
"SOUDENNE"
Not a bit of sincerity in that! I puffed out my cheeks and pouted, and Sid chuckled.
"I'm your dog, so I'll be kept forever."
"There you go again."
What a handsome, too-human dog.
"Have you forgotten? Your father picked me up."
That was when Sid was eight and I was five.
"Father, I want a cute dog."
I innocently begged, never expecting my father to bring back a "dog-like boy." Yeah, my father's sense of humor was really scary.
He said, "I couldn't find a dog that Via could raise, so I brought back a dog-like boy." What kind of logic is that for going to the castle and bringing back a dog-like boy?
I still don't understand it.
I don't know if Sid was in the castle or on the road, and my father has since passed away. Still, Sid remains by my side.
"Will you always be with me...?"
"Miss, you're unusually timid today."
Pointed out, I couldn't help but frown. But it can't be helped. I say things like this because I have deep feelings for Sid, even though I'm the fiancée of a prince and he's just a bodyguard.
Whether he knows or not, Sid smiled and said, "Don't worry! There's no better job with better pay and more time off, so I'm not going anywhere."
"At least lie and say you'll follow me!"
"Okay, I'll follow you~"
"Too casual! Too casual!!"
I don't ask for sweet words, but at least pretend to be a loyal bodyguard.
Feeling a bit silly for my worries, I gazed out the window at the steady rain.
The weather is bad, but today I'm heading to the battlefield. It's an irregular situation to be left behind as the villainous lady right from the start, but there must be a way out.
It's okay, I won't lose as long as Sid is with me.
Gripping my fist tightly, I whispered,
"I will definitely survive...!"
