When Zhang Fang heard Jin Chenbo invite him to do a task together, his brows furrowed slightly. He knew that the game world had just opened a few minutes ago, and he was already quite fast. Those who were still in the beginner's guide probably hadn't even finished it yet. How could this person have gotten so familiar with the game so quickly and even received a quest? More importantly, did the early quests require leaving the city? And it just happened to be the south gate where he was?
Zhang Fang thought about it and felt something was off. He had seen all kinds of situations before and immediately realized that Jin Chenbo probably had ulterior motives. However, he said, "Brother, you're pretty impressive. You got the hang of the game so quickly after just entering? Are you a beta tester?"
Jin Chenbo smiled broadly and said, "You flatter me. I was lucky enough to get a beta account during the closed beta and experienced a lot of the game content."
Zhang Fang also showed a smile, but in his heart, he thought, "Bullshit. I've never heard of any closed beta or beta testing for this game. This guy is trying to trick me into leaving the city. What does he want? Could it be?"
Zhang Fang suddenly realized that "Great Jianghu" was known for being the most open game world, and Jin Chenbo seemed to have been eyeing him for a while. The guy's intentions were obvious.
Once he figured this out, Zhang Fang had no interest in纠缠 with this guy. Jin Chenbo had probably played other open-world games before and was now likely planning to rob and kill players. He probably also wanted to test the game's rules for item drops after killing someone. Moreover, from his build, it was clear that Jin Chenbo had chosen a talent-endowed template, which would be extremely powerful before obtaining martial arts skills. Zhang Fang didn't want to be his test subject.
"Brother, I'm sorry, but I'm here to be a life player. I have no intention of wandering the江湖. I can't help you with your quest. You should find someone else."
Zhang Fang directly refused Jin Chenbo. The guy's face turned ugly when he heard this, but he didn't give up. He said, "Brother, please help me. This quest is very important to me. If you can help me complete it, I'll give you this cool thing."
The guy really had his eyes on Zhang Fang and even showed him a Human Essence Pill in his palm. Seeing Jin Chenbo's actions, Zhang Fang was certain that the guy was set on taking the dark path and wanted to make some quick money before his reputation went bad.
Zhang Fang sneered inwardly. He had seen this kind of trick before. It was all about stirring up greed and then making a move, just like those scammers. He didn't want to waste more time on this guy and said, "Brother, don't take me for a complete noob just because you call me 'big brother.' I know exactly what you're up to. I don't have time to mess around with you."
With that, Zhang Fang didn't care about Jin Chenbo's reaction and turned to leave. Zhang Fang wasn't worried about Jin Chenbo attacking him. Although the attack power of a talent-endowed template character was as high as 50, it would take several hits to kill a player. Moreover, the streets of Chengdu were crowded with people, and he saw several constables patrolling each street. If Jin Chenbo dared to make a move, it would be like using a flashlight in a toilet...
Sure enough, Jin Chenbo looked at Zhang Fang's back with anger, his fists clenched tightly. He said viciously, "If I knew the rules for item drops after killing someone, I would have finished you off right now, you trash. Choosing a weakling template and still acting so cocky."
Jin Chenbo's voice was loud, and Zhang Fang heard it. He didn't expect Jin Chenbo to know about his initial template choice.
"Ha, Gao Shou, is it? Don't let me see you in the city again, or I'll kill you every time I see you. A V2 district trash, choosing a weakling template, you really don't know when to die." Jin Chenbo saw Zhang Fang stop and started to taunt him again. Zhang Fang looked at Jin Chenbo's arrogant face and really wanted to punch him.
They say that online games are a magnifying glass for human nature. Zhang Fang wasn't the first to encounter someone like Jin Chenbo, but every time he met such an openly thuggish and unreasonable person, he got very angry. In their eyes, it seemed that everyone else was there to be killed or tricked. If they didn't get their way, they would hold a grudge, and some of them would even keep fighting until the game shut down.
"Go to hell, I'm not afraid of you!" Zhang Fang was a low-level thug in real life. The pressure of life was already great, and he wanted to relax and make some money in the game. He didn't expect to encounter such a thug as soon as he entered the game world. He was furious and started to curse at Jin Chenbo, who had a sly look on his face.
Jin Chenbo clearly didn't expect Zhang Fang to curse at him. The veins on his forehead bulged, and he said, "Trash, you're asking for it! I was going to kill someone anyway, so I'll start with you, damn it."
Saying that, Jin Chenbo raised his thick fist and punched Zhang Fang in the face. Zhang Fang didn't have time to react and was knocked back several meters, landing on the ground. Blood gushed from his nose, flowing down his mouth and onto his chest.
Zhang Fang crashed into several pedestrians as he fell back, and the crowd on the street immediately erupted. Some quickly moved to the sides of the street to avoid the commotion, while others screamed in shock.
"Murder, murder!"
The entire street fell into chaos, but the constables on both sides of the street reacted quickly. They raised their sheathed long knives, shouting at the crowd to disperse as they rushed to the scene.
Zhang Fang sat on the ground, dazed. He never expected Jin Chenbo to be so outrageous and actually attack in broad daylight. What surprised him even more was that Jin Chenbo's punch had reduced his health bar by almost half, and his character now had a "minor bleeding" status.
"This is really f*cking weak," Zhang Fang couldn't help but curse in his heart. He never expected that a weakling template character could be so weak that it could be killed by a talent-endowed template character in just two punches.
Before Zhang Fang could recover, Jin Chenbo quickly approached and looked down at him with a cold smile. "Trash, you dared to act so cocky with me. Die!"
Jin Chenbo raised his fist again and aimed for Zhang Fang's forehead. If this punch landed, Zhang Fang would probably be finished.
Zhang Fang, sitting on the ground, had no time to react. Just as the punch was about to land, he heard a sword whistle. In the next moment, he saw a spray of blood in front of him, splashing onto the ground beside him. He looked up and saw Jin Chenbo with a long saber at his neck and a long wound on his left arm.
"Hmph, relying on brute strength to commit violence in broad daylight, you really don't respect us constables!" A constable in red uniform, wearing a headcloth, looked at Jin Chenbo with disdain. The saber at Jin Chenbo's neck was his.
Jin Chenbo didn't take the constable seriously and glared at Zhang Fang. "Kid, you wait. I won't let you off."
Saying that, Jin Chenbo lunged forward, pushing his neck onto the saber. Before anyone could react, blood spurted out, and his body went limp, falling to the ground with his eyes wide open.
