Chapter 6

Zhang Fang walked out of the medical hall, turned back to look at it, and spat at the door, cursing fiercely, "What a load of crap, it's completely overpriced."

The shop assistant's words had thoroughly dashed Zhang Fang's hopes of quickly entering a life profession. Moreover, he had to deal with the "minor bleeding" status on his body. Although this status caused his health to decrease at a slow rate, if left unchecked, it could lead to serious problems.

Zhang Fang was completely at a loss for what to do. He felt that the system's previous warning was indeed correct. Without the new player guide, the difficulty of getting into the game increased exponentially. However, Zhang Fang did not regret his choice since he had already made it.

Zhang Fang raised his head and looked at the bustling market in front of him, unsure of what to do. Suddenly, he noticed that the crowd nearby seemed very excited, and many people were heading south.

"Is something happening?" Zhang Fang followed the crowd southward. In an open world, many things needed to be discovered on one's own. Since he had no leads, he might as well join in the excitement and see if he could find a way.

Zhang Fang joined the crowd heading south and asked a middle-aged man wearing a martial arts shirt, "Uncle, why are so many people going that way?"

"You don't even know why you're following?" The middle-aged man was quite talkative and smiled at Zhang Fang.

Zhang Fang, being naturally friendly, smiled and said, "I have nothing to do, just joining in the fun."

"Ha, you must be new to the world of martial arts, right? Looking at your weak build, I advise you not to follow. The Zhenyuan Escort Agency is selecting apprentices today, and many people are going to see if they can join. However, as one of the seven major escort agencies in the world, it's not easy to get in. I doubt you could pass the first test, so don't come for the fun of it."

Zhang Fang felt uncomfortable hearing this. It was the third time he had been belittled by an NPC today. However, the middle-aged man was giving him good advice, so Zhang Fang held back his anger and replied, "It's fine to join in the fun; I'm not really planning to join the Zhenyuan Escort Agency."

The middle-aged man, seeing that Zhang Fang wouldn't listen, didn't say anything more. Thus, Zhang Fang followed the crowd southward. After a while, they turned a corner, and Zhang Fang saw a large mansion with a sign that read "Zhenyuan Escort Agency."

The street in front of the Zhenyuan Escort Agency was already packed. Zhang Fang and the middle-aged man stood far away, looking inside.

The walls of the mansion were not very high. Zhang Fang climbed up a step and saw a long table at the entrance, where two young men who looked like scholars were sitting. Whenever someone came to register, they would write down their information. After registration, a martial arts practitioner in training clothes would lead the person into the courtyard for an assessment. However, due to the distance, the details of the assessment were not clear.

Soon, Zhang Fang saw one person after another leave the courtyard with their heads hanging low, clearly having failed the assessment.

Zhang Fang, curious about this, thought that although the Zhenyuan Escort Agency was one of the seven major escort agencies, it wasn't a major force in the martial arts world. Why was the selection process so strict? With this thought, he decided to squeeze in and see if he could gather any information.

Zhang Fang squeezed through the crowd and used all his strength to move toward the entrance of the Zhenyuan Escort Agency. After a long time, he finally reached the side of the two stone lions at the entrance. Just as he was about to catch his breath, he heard someone in front say, "The conditions for selecting apprentices at the Zhenyuan Escort Agency are quite difficult. The first test requires at least 400 stamina points to pass."

Zhang Fang's eyes lit up. He knew the speaker must be another player. He slightly turned his head and saw a black badge on the person's neck.

"Jiang Liufeng? Hmm, his martial arts reputation is 5, and his status is 'somewhat talented'?"

Just as Zhang Fang finished speaking, he heard another person next to Jiang Liufeng say, "You're right. I remember the promotional materials said the Zhenyuan Escort Agency is a minor force in the martial arts world. I didn't expect it to be so difficult to join. Even if I put all my potential points into stamina, I still don't have 400 points. I can't join the Zhenyuan Escort Agency."

Zhang Fang turned his gaze to the speaker, a tall and strong man like Jin Chenbo. Looking at the black badge on his neck, a series of information appeared in his mind.

"Fang Shihong. I didn't pay attention to Jin Chenbo's other information before, but it seems they both have the status 'somewhat brave'?"

Zhang Fang checked the identity badges of two players and realized why Jin Chenbo knew he was a weak template. Different initial templates have slightly different identity information. Jiang Liufeng, who is 'somewhat talented,' probably chose the genius template.

Fang Shihong chose the gifted template, which has strong initial attack but only two potential points. All initial templates have 100 health, stamina, and internal energy. Therefore, players with this template cannot pass the first test of the Zhenyuan Escort Agency.

At this moment, Jiang Liufeng said, "I'm the same. Although I have five potential points, the chances are slim. I don't know what the next tests are. It seems this isn't the right place for us to start. We need to find another way."

Fang Shihong nodded in agreement. Another person next to him said, "Sigh, we should have gone through the new player guide. Not only would we have gotten some money, but we would also have received a recommendation letter to a martial arts school to learn some basic skills, making it easier to get started. Now we're like headless flies."

Zhang Fang quickly looked at this person and read his information.

"Chen Hao. His status is 'silent but deadly.' He probably chose the hard-training template." After seeing several players' information, Zhang Fang matched the identity information with the templates. The hard-training template has average insight and few potential points but high bone density.

Just as Chen Hao finished speaking, Jiang Liufeng disagreed, arguing, "The new player guide may help players get started quickly, but the martial arts school only teaches low-level internal skills and basic footwork, without any martial arts techniques. What use is that?"

"Never mind. The Zhenyuan Escort Agency isn't a major force in the martial arts world. Not being able to join isn't necessarily a bad thing. Who knows, we might encounter some opportunities and join a major sect later."

The three of them were about to leave, but they suddenly stopped, as did Zhang Fang, because he heard the system's voice in his head.

"Player Gao Siyue has completed all the new player guides, opening the public information channel in Chengdu. Gao Siyue has received three pigeon orders and two points of chivalry. Other players can buy pigeon orders from the general store to send messages on the information channel."
