In a high-end private residential area located on the main artery of the city, a young boy lay quietly on the bed, his eyes fixed on the LCD screen in front of him. However, the room he was in was peculiar, filled with a collection of anime figurines that would make countless otakus envious to the point of death. Each figurine, with its intricate craftsmanship, was a valuable and rare item. The bookshelves were lined with original manga and film discs, posters, and various merchandise bought directly from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and even Japan. But what was extremely out of place in this room was the state-of-the-art medical equipment and life support systems that rivaled those found in any major city hospital!
The boy's face was very thin and had a sickly waxen yellow hue. A breathing tube was inserted into his nostrils, making a slight hissing sound as the machine operated. Due to chemotherapy, the young boy, who was still in his youth, was completely bald, even his eyebrows had fallen out, giving him a strange and terrifying appearance.
"Ha... cough... hahaha"! The LCD screen was playing the anime "Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood." Watching the protagonist, 'Shorty' Edward Elric, being hugged so intensely by his armored brother that his spine almost broke, the boy burst into laughter, accompanied by a slight cough.
The door to the room was gently pushed open, and a young nurse entered with a warm water bag. After getting the boy's permission, she replaced the slightly cold water bag on his left hand, which was receiving intravenous fluids. After securing the warm water bag for the boy, the nurse quietly left the room and closed the door.
After the nurse left, the boy slightly moved his stiff body, clicked a few keys, and the display switched to a stock trading window. Looking at the dense data and the dizzying charts, the boy decisively began to sell and buy stocks. For a moment, his expression changed as if he were a seasoned stock market veteran.
After completing the operations, the boy lay back down, exhausted, and took a deep breath. In just those few minutes, unimaginable wealth for an ordinary person had entered the boy's pocket. Perhaps to the boy, it was a bit regrettable that the stocks he had sold might still have potential to appreciate if he had held onto them longer. However, the boy knew his time was limited, so it was safer to sell them, even if it meant earning a little less.
Ding ding ding! The QQ message notification sounded, and the boy seemed to perk up. He propped himself up against the bed and opened the message bar. A net friend named 'Glasses Panda' was sending him a file.
The boy was very happy and quickly accepted the file. After decompressing it, the file contained over ten exquisite fantasy-style CGs. There were dragons soaring in the sky, beautiful elves playing by the lakeside, magnificent castles adorned with angelic statues, and hellish demons surrounded by blood and flames. Each CG was so vivid and realistic that it was breathtaking. Even though he had seen CGs from 'Glasses Panda' before, the boy couldn't help but feel excited, his hands trembling slightly.
"You are the best CG master!" The boy excitedly sent the message, expressing his sincere praise. 'Glasses Panda' playfully sent a shy face to thank him for the praise!
The boy carefully examined the CGs, and with each one, his heart was deeply moved, his hope for life growing stronger. Before meeting 'Glasses Panda,' the boy had more than once thought about ending his life due to the pain of his illness and chemotherapy. But now, he only hoped to live a little longer, to see more of these beautiful works.
"I really wish I had more time to see your works!" The boy silently typed, sharing his pain with his net friend.
'Glasses Panda' sent a huge playful smile!
The boy decided to reveal everything, his hands flying over the keyboard: "I have a terminal illness and don't have much time left. Your CGs and anime works have always brought me joy. If possible... can you leave me your bank account number? I want to send you some money to express my gratitude."
After sending the message, the boy felt it might be inappropriate and quickly added: "Sorry for being so abrupt, but I have no ill intentions. If you're worried, you can get a new bank card, and I can transfer the money to that."
Even if he sent hundreds of thousands of dollars, it wouldn't matter to the boy. The money he had earned had no meaning to him anymore. The only purpose was to atone to his parents, hoping they would grieve less after his death and live a comfortable life with this money.
'Glasses Panda' didn't reply but uploaded a new CG. The image showed a mother gently tying a red scarf for her child, and the boy, with a school bag on his back, looked proudly at the red scarf on his chest, clearly very proud. The entire CG exuded a warm and tender atmosphere.
"Your parents are the ones who gave you life; leave it to them!"
Tears streamed down the boy's face uncontrollably. He believed he had truly made a good friend.
'Glasses Panda' quickly sent another playful face and said: "Actually, I'm more interested in your collection of figurines. If you're willing to give them to me, I'll 'graciously' accept them." Another image popped up in the QQ message bar, showing an emperor from a period drama sitting on his dragon throne, with the words 'Aren't you going to thank me?' below.
The boy burst into laughter, tears turning to smiles, and began typing a reply. But just as he was about to send the message, he felt a hot sensation rising in his throat.
Not good! The boy's first reaction was that his condition had worsened. In the next moment, a mouthful of blood, accompanied by a violent cough, spewed out! Soon, hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor, and the door was abruptly pushed open. Several nurses rushed in, helping the boy lie down slowly. Another nurse quickly used the internal phone to contact the doctor who was resting in another room.
Soon, several doctors and the boy's parents rushed in. Surrounded by the busy doctors and nurses and his parents with sad expressions, the boy felt his senses becoming increasingly blurred. All the sounds became distant, as if coming from an unknown faraway place. The scenes began to distort and blur, and exhaustion washed over him. His eyes closed weakly, and everything turned to darkness...
At that moment, the people busy around the boy didn't notice that on the open computer, 'Glasses Panda' had sent a message: "Don't be afraid! Death is just a new beginning! I will fulfill your wish."
