Chapter 24: The Mistake That Made His Heart Flutter

The Xiangjiang Bridge spans the wide river, with a constant flow of vehicles on it.

Fishing boats, sand boats, and passenger ships come and go on the river, while high-rise buildings line both banks. A passenger plane that just took off from Honghua Airport leaves a long white trail in the clear blue sky.

Li Yi held Guo Xiaoling in his arms, his forehead touching hers, and looked into her panicked eyes, saying earnestly, "Xiaoling, let's never be apart, okay?"

A wave of sweetness surged in Guo Xiaoling's heart, and her worry and panic immediately vanished. She tiptoed and pressed her hot lips to Li Yi's, humming softly, "Mm!"

Li Yi held her tightly, afraid that if he let go, she would fly away with the river breeze, never to be found again.

With the sweetness of the young girl's kiss, Li Yi felt much better. He held Guo Xiaoling and sat by the river for the whole afternoon before driving home.

Fang Fang, seeing Guo Xiaoling, smiled and said, "Xiaoling, you came just in time. Help me wash the vegetables. We're having stir-fried meat with peppers and chicken stewed with mushrooms tonight." Guo Xiaoling sweetly called out, "Auntie, hello!"

Li Yi immediately felt his mouth watering, "Mom, hurry up! You've got me drooling just by saying it."

Fang Fang laughed and got up, "You!"

"Hehe." In front of his mother, Li Yi was just a typical half-grown child.

Fang Fang was particularly pleased, "Your car is too small, only seating two people. Why didn't you add a bit more money to buy a car that can seat three?"

Li Yi laughed so hard he almost choked, and Guo Xiaoling, hugging Fang Fang's arm, laughed until tears streamed down her face.

"What's so funny?" Fang Fang glared at Li Yi.

Li Yi stopped laughing and said, "Mom, where are there cars that seat three people? Okay, I'll buy a bigger car tomorrow, alright?"

Fang Fang was happy and said, "That's better! You and Xiaoling might be comfortable in such a small car, but where do I sit?"

Li Yi thought to himself that he had indeed been shortsighted. He had bought this BMW sports car just for its looks, but in terms of practicality, it was far inferior to a Santana.

After a warm and harmonious dinner, Fang Fang watched TV for a while and then said, "I'm going to sleep. I get tired easily now that I'm old." But the older one gets, the less tired they become! She just wanted to give the young couple some time and space.

As soon as Fang Fang left, Li Yi moved closer to Guo Xiaoling, reached out, and hugged her from behind.

Guo Xiaoling twisted her body uncomfortably and whispered, "Auntie is still here! Be careful."

Li Yi chuckled, "Mom is already asleep. Besides, in her eyes, you're already my wife. Even if she sees us, she won't blame me."

Guo Xiaoling blushed, "I'm not used to it."

"Then shall we go to the bedroom?" Li Yi thought of the night they had spent in each other's arms, and his heart fluttered.

"No, I'll sleep with Auntie tonight." Guo Xiaoling pouted.

"Why?" Li Yi reached out to grab her hand.

Guo Xiaoling skillfully dodged, "Last time, you kept me up all night, and my body felt like it was on fire. My heart felt like it was being scratched by five hundred cats."

Li Yi's heart itched even more, and he coaxed her, "How about this, I won't crowd you tonight. We'll each sleep on one side of the bed, okay?" Seeing that she was still hesitant, he added, "You wouldn't want to disturb Mom's sleep, right? She's very alert when she sleeps. Any noise will wake her up. If you sleep with her, you'll torture her, won't you?"

Guo Xiaoling was indeed convinced and hesitated, "Alright, but you mustn't touch me! And you mustn't hug me while sleeping."

Li Yi nodded eagerly, agreeing to everything. He coaxed her into bed, thinking, "I'll figure out how to handle her later. Hehe!"

The two of them took turns to shower. Li Yi quietly pushed open the door and saw that Guo Xiaoling had indeed divided the bed into two halves, each with a small blanket. She was sleeping on the edge. Seeing Li Yi come in, she didn't pretend to be asleep but looked at him, "Wear longer pants."

Li Yi looked at his four-cornered briefs, showing off his muscular body, and laughed, "These pants are long enough, longer than some women's skirts!"
