At that moment, a vein sprouted on Geonwoo’s forehead. Since Yeonhwa did not have eyes on her back, there was no way to know what Geonwoo’s face was like. Yeonhwa stared at the man’s eyes. She had never seen his face before. She thought if she had seen him somewhere, it would have stuck in her mind. Yeonhwa shook her head.

“No, I don’t think I have seen you before.”

“I don’t know where I saw you, but I think I’ve seen you before.”

In the eyes full of vagueness, Yeonhwa took out her old memories. Without knowing that Geonwoo’s inner heart was burning with their deep eye contact.

“I don’t remember it either.”

As soon as Yeonhwa’s words fell, Geonwoo grabbed the man’s wrist.

“Please get your hands off my wife.”

With his teeth clenched, he alternated between the hand he was holding and the man’s eyes. The man bowed his head briefly and dropped his hand from Yeonhwa’s shoulder.

“Sorry. I must have been mistaken.”

Geonwoo pressed the displeasure over the man who bowed his head lightly and opened the emergency room’s door.

“Let’s go.”

At Geonwoo’s words, Yeonhwa gave a slight nod at the man.

Although Yeonhwa didn’t realize the man’s eyes were following her over the emergency room’s glass door, Geonwoo was so irritated that his nerves were on edge.

Secretary Kim, who was waiting outside the emergency room, got out of the car and looked at Yeonhwa.

“Madam, are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m okay. But my forehead got hurt slightly.”

When Geonwoo reached out his hand, Secretary Kim understood it at once and put the car key on his palm. Geonwoo, who walked to the passenger seat and opened the door, then glanced at Yeonhwa.

“Please get in.”

Yeonhwa gave a greeting to Secretary Kim and got on the passenger seat. Geonwoo closed the door and got into the driver’s seat after having a brief conversation with Secretary Kim. Then he fastened his seat belt, started the car, and stepped on the gas pedal. The car slipped out of the emergency room and joined the road. Geonwoo didn’t say a single word while driving. It was the same with Yeonhwa. She was looking out the window with a heavy mind. She knew that Geonwoo was overreacting because of a previous accident. She understood but what Geonwoo did was overprotective. Maybe this person was not worried about her, but because he hated being uncomfortable. Or was it because she hurt her head again, which had already been hurt once?

As soon as the memory comes back, she knows the divorce papers will be handed to her again. Yeonhwa shook her head and leaned her head against the seat, thinking it was a futile idea. When the car reached the parking lot, Yeonhwa was about to get out of the car, but Geonwoo spoke.

“I don’t want you to drive again for the time being.”

As he turned his head, Geonwoo spoke again.

“Your hand hasn’t healed yet.”

His eyebrows, which had been crumpled from before, were not resolved even after arriving home. Because of that, Yeonhwa could see that even though he spoke with a low-pitched voice, he did not feel any better.

“The accident happened because I stepped on the brake so suddenly. There is no problem with my driving.”

In the slowly sinking atmosphere, Yeonhwa’s voice spontaneously spread to the floor. Geonwoo broke the silence that continued for a while.

“Secretary Kim will be sent to pick you up tomorrow for the checkup at the hospital.”

Yeonhwa responded slowly, swallowing a sigh.

“Yoon Geonwoo, l am not a child. Driving or getting a medical checkup is something I can do on my own.”

“Why? I am here. Why do you do it alone?”

Yeonhwa’s lips were closed. Geowoo didn’t have any idea how much his words shook Yeonhwa’s heart. When he said that, Yeonhwa’s heart was pounding, and the words couldn’t come out. She felt happy even if he might just spit out words without meaning. Then the silence fell. Yeonhwa quietly spoke out to relieve the frozen atmosphere.

“If you get a call from the man earlier, please give me his cell phone number.”

Geonwoo’s face became even harder when Yeonhwa asked for the man’s cell phone number.

“I know you’re busy at work. I’ll deal with the insurance, so you don’t have to worry about it.”

Geonwoo came in late yesterday because of a business trip. So she did not want to give him any more burden.

“I can’t do that.”

He said it while looking sternly at Yeonhwa. However, what he wanted to say was that he missed her like perfume. How could he give another man’s number to her? If he told her that, she would see him as a narrow-minded man. He didn’t want to tell her about the jealousy he had in his heart.

“Why are you doing this, really?”

It was difficult for Yeonhwa to understand why her husband suddenly acted all out of his character. It has been since the accident. Suddenly, he does things that he had never done, and today he was even wrestling with unnecessary words.

“I am afraid you’ll be bothered.”

“It’s not a hassle, so I’ll contact you if necessary.”

Can’t drive, can’t have the man’s number, don’t do this, and don’t do that. There were many things that she cannot do. In a frustrated heart, Yeonhwa shot him a cold tone.

“I think you’re ridiculous. Why are you so sensitive today?”

“Just…can’t you just listen to me?”

Yeonhwa opened her eyes wide to his elevated voice, which she had never heard of before. Was it because they were in a closed car? The emotions, voices, eyes, and everything she feels now were clearly conveyed. Yeonhwa closed her lips and barely pulled a word out of her throat.

“To me now…You are angry.”

“It’s not like that.”

“I’m worried about you.” The words he wanted to say, but Geonwoo couldn’t speak and closed his eyes quietly. When he heard the nurse telling him that Yeonhwa was brought to the emergency room unconscious, he thought his heart stopped at that moment. He thought there would be an accident if he drove to the hospital in that state of mind, so he let Secretary Kim drive. The time in the car passed slowly on the way to the hospital. Geonwoo felt insane. His wife was bleeding in front of his eyes, and that was all he could think about. And on top of that, when he got to the hospital, there was even a man who couldn’t take his eyes off his wife. So, it was difficult to control his feelings, and he was blinded by jealousy and became stupid. He had to apologize for being overprotective. But to do that, he needed to calm himself down. However, the silence was misleading. Geonwoo’s closed eyes seemed to be irritating to her.

“Yeonhwa… I…”

Yeonhwa’s expression became cold at the softly calling of her name.

“If we talk now, it seems that we will only hurt each other’s feelings further. Please stop talking about this problem.”

Yeonhwa’s cold voice was enough to freeze Geonwoo’s heart. Yeonhwa then opened the passenger seat door, got out of the car, and slammed the door shut. The sound of the car door closing seemed to shatter his heart. Only his eyes followed Yeonhwa passing by in front of the car because he couldn’t go after her.

“This was my first fight with my wife.”
