The romance of the night always came at a price in the morning. Although Yan Chen took good care of him afterward, Rong Jun still felt uncomfortable. His legs trembled when he walked, extremely weak and unsteady, and there was still a lingering painful sensation in his body.

Unfortunately, today was the day his mother and nephew were returning. He couldn’t stay in bed to rest, so he dragged Yan Chen out of bed early and made the culprit serve him, helping him wash up and change clothes.

Yan Chen picked out a set of casual clothes from the closet and hung them neatly beside Rong Jun. As he waited for Rong Jun to take off his pajamas, a thought suddenly occurred to him.

“Is your little nephew also a peacock?”

Rong Jun handed him the shirt he had been sitting on and picked up a white short-sleeved one nearby.

“No. He inherited our father’s bloodline, he’s a lion. My nephew followed his father, so he’s a little lion.”

Yan Chen hadn’t paid much attention to the Rong family before. He had only heard bits and pieces from Rong Jun about internal family matters and the Zhou family. Today was the first time he realized the head of the Rong family wasn’t of peacock lineage.

“So you inherited your mother’s bloodline?”

“Mm.” Rong Jun seemed to be in a good mood. “My mother is the only white peacock in the Zhou family.”

“Now there are two.” Yan Chen gently stroked his cheek.

Rong Jun paused while dressing, then smiled at him. “Yes.”

This white peacock no longer belonged to the Rong family. Soon, he will be his.

…

Rong Jin, Rong Jun’s nephew, had been lively since childhood and was just as attached to him as Yan Chen was. The moment he entered the house, he shouted that he wanted to see his uncle and ran toward Rong Jun’s room with his short little legs.

“Hahaha, Uncle~ I missed you so much~” Rong Jin laughed, wrapping his arms tightly around Rong Jun’s neck and rubbing his cheeks against him, his legs swinging happily.

“I missed you too.” Rong Jun kissed his forehead affectionately. “Did Grandma come back with you?”

“Grandma is downstairs, so I ran up first!”

Rong Jun turned to Yan Chen. “Do you want to go downstairs together, or wait for me here?”

“Let’s go together.”

…

After going downstairs, Rong Jun was surprised to see Rong Li and his other half-brother, Rong Chu. Weren’t they supposed to be busy with company matters? Why were they back?

His gaze lingered on Rong Chu’s tall, slender figure. This half-brother of his had never been easy to deal with. Though he had never done anything outright harmful, he had always looked at Rong Jun with deep hostility, as if Rong Jun had taken something precious from him.

Suppressing his emotions, Rong Jun walked down the stairs with a gentle smile.

“Brother, why are you back too?”

“I asked him to come,” Zhou Yinglan, said as she approached and carefully looked at her youngest son.

“He hasn’t seen his eldest nephew in a while.”

Her gaze softened. “Your face looks a little fuller. It seems you’ve been eating well at school.”

Rong Jun’s heart skipped a beat, and his throat felt oddly ticklish.

“Haha… the school food is pretty good.”

To avoid the topic going somewhere awkward, Rong Jun quickly introduced Yan Chen to Zhou Yinglan and Rong Chu. After that, they all went to the dining room for breakfast.

Because Rong Jin refused to leave Rong Jun’s side, Rong Jun spent the entire day running around the manor with him. After everything he had endured the previous night, it was utterly exhausting.

Yan Chen, who was being completely ignored, felt both wronged and heartbroken. He tried several times to pull Rong Jun back to the room to rest, but Rong Jun hadn’t seen his nephew in so long that all his attention was on the kid.

Fortunately, the little boy’s energy had limits. As soon as night fell, he fell asleep.

Rong Jun carefully held the sleeping Rong Jin and spoke softly to Yan Chen.

“I’ll take him to my brother’s room. Go back and wait for me.”

“Got it.”

They returned to the house and parted ways at the top of the stairs. Rong Jun headed toward Rong Li’s room, but found it empty. He placed Rong Jin on the bed and helped him change into pajamas. As for washing up, that would have to wait for Rong Li.

He needed to hurry back, after all Yan Chen was still waiting for him, it would be inappropriate to keep him waiting for long. But at the same time, he couldn’t just leave Rong Jin alone. What if he woke up and started crying?

Ultimately, Rong Jun went to look for Rong Li. He called and called, but there was no answer. He checked several usual places where he could sport him but still nothing. Finally, he went downstairs and asked the butler.

“It seems the eldest young master and the second young master went to the underground library together.”

How did those two end up together?

Rong Jun didn’t dwell on it. He was exhausted and just wanted to find Rong Li quickly so he could return and rest.

Rong Jun went to the library and found that the door was slightly ajar. The space occupied the entire basement, and thick carpets muffled every step, making the place eerily quiet.

“Brother…” Rong Jun called out softly, but suddenly a voice rang out—

“Why?! What gives you the right to make decisions for me?!”

It sounded like Rong Chu.

Concerned that the two were fighting, Rong Jun followed the voice.

He hadn’t gone far when he saw them, standing at the other end of the bookshelf. Just as he was about to call out, the scene before him made his voice catch in his throat.

Why were their lips pressed together?
