Chapter 9 of 100
Chapter 9

As Tang En was planning the next steps, he walked towards the lord's mansion with Fiona.
Just as he had considered, after taking the position of lord, the two immediate issues to address were the security of Ellington and the food supply for the residents. However, to solve the food problem, he needed to observe the agricultural situation in Plandar and come up with targeted solutions, which would not be resolved in a day or two. Before improving agriculture, the food shortage could be temporarily filled by purchasing from outside, so it wasn't an urgent matter.
Before that, the security issue was more important and easier to handle. After dealing with Hogg, he could take control of Ellington's militia and lead them to eliminate the bandits. This would also help to hone their coordination.
Upon arriving outside the lord's mansion, Tang En's lips curled up. Despite the town's residents being very poor, with most houses still leaking wind and rain, the lord's mansion looked very grand, completely out of place with the surrounding environment.
Tang En said to the guard, "Please inform the lord that Tang En and Fiona have been invited to the banquet."
Fiona leaned in and whispered, "Lord, do you really need to be so polite to this kind of person?"
Fiona recognized this guard as the one who had leered at her and wanted to lay hands on her, and she was still seething with anger.
Tang En shook his head and whispered, "You need to be cautious and low-key. Many people like to pretend to be weak, and if Hogg has any hidden experts, we would be in danger."
Fiona widened her eyes, "Lord, are you sure you're not talking about yourself!?"
The guard's gaze swept over Fiona and then landed on Tang En, saying in a sarcastic tone, "Invited? I haven't heard the lord mention it. Are you two commoners trying to sneak into the lord's mansion? Speak! What are your intentions!?"
The guard drew his weapon as he spoke.
"Ridiculous!"
Fiona's eyebrows shot up in anger, "The person in front of you is Tang En, the lord of Ellington!"
"I only know that Lord Hogg is the lord. You, a commoner, dare to impersonate the lord and commit fraud. Die!"
The guard roared and swung his weapon at Tang En!
Are these guys' heads filled with shit?
Tang En lightly raised his hand and grabbed the long sword, then before the guard could react, he swung the sword and killed him!
Seeing the spurt of blood, Fiona was stunned, "Lord, didn't you say we should be low-key?"
"Hmm?"
Tang En shook off the blood on the sword and paused, "Forget what I said."
Although Fiona didn't understand why Tang En changed his mind so quickly, she was very happy that he had killed this despicable person.
"Who are you!?"
The commotion at the gate caught the attention of the private soldiers. Soon, a large group of them surrounded Tang En and Fiona. Seeing the dead body on the ground, the private soldiers looked at Tang En with the eyes of hungry wolves, full of murderous intent.
Inside the lord's mansion, by the window on the second floor.
"Do you think they can take care of this guy?"
Hogg squinted his eyes. If these people could directly eliminate Tang En, it would be the best scenario. If they couldn't, he would have to use the second plan.
"I don't know."
The man beside Hogg shook his head, "He doesn't have any signs of blood energy or magic power. He just used brute force to split his body. I can't tell what his strength is."
"Brute force? Is he like Elsa, with superhuman strength?"
A shadow of gloom flashed across Hogg's face, but he quickly smiled, "Even if he has superhuman strength, so what? With you, a mere commoner with superhuman strength is no match for you."
"Of course!"
The man said proudly, "I, Jorden, am a Bronze Rank 3 warrior! A commoner who hasn't awakened his talent, how can he be my match!"
"However, to be on the safe side, I have prepared other measures..."
Hogg smiled sinisterly and whispered to Jorden.
At this moment, the atmosphere outside was tense.
"How dare you cause trouble in the lord's mansion and kill our people! Prepare to pay with your lives!"
The captain of the private soldiers said in a sinister tone, then waved his hand, "Kill the man! Capture the woman alive!"
"Long overdue!"
"Haha! The woman is mine!"
A group of private soldiers howled and charged over.
"Dad!"
In the distance, Elsa looked anxiously at Aberdon, wanting to go and help.
"No need to rush."
Aberdon stopped Elsa, "He won't be in danger."
"But..."
"Trust me, I have a feeling he will become our lord of Ellington."
Seeing their disgusting expressions, Tang En's gentle smile immediately disappeared.
"You scum, living is a waste of my land and air... You might as well die."
Tang En walked over with the standard long sword he had just taken. Compared to the afternoon, his clumsy movements had become much more refined. Although he didn't have combat skills, the strength and agility of a max-level mage gave him an overwhelming advantage against these enemies.
Each move was very ordinary, but the astonishing power on the long sword was unstoppable, not to mention the abnormally fast speed. Sometimes even Aberdon couldn't see his moves from a distance, which surprised him greatly.
"Crack!"
Two long swords clashed, and with a loud noise, the private soldier who rushed over was thrown back by the immense force, and his long sword broke.
"Too fragile."
Tang En threw away the broken sword, a bit depressed, and fixed his gaze on the others.
The private soldiers were initially intimidated by Tang En's superhuman strength, but seeing that he had lost his weapon, they became excited.
"He has no weapon! Attack!"
"Kill him! He's just a commoner, not an Awakened, what to fear! Kill him! The woman will be ours!"
"Attack together!"
Seeing the private soldiers rush over, Tang En instead showed a cold smile, "You are too naive!"
In the next moment, Tang En charged in, using his incredibly strong body to rampage among the private soldiers. He grabbed one and punched him in the face, sending the unfortunate man flying.
As the man flew out, Tang En casually took his long sword, and his aura suddenly changed, a cold and murderous intent spreading.
"Bad! Kill him quickly!"
"Damn—his strength is too great!"
"We can't even touch him!"
Tang En mercilessly charged in. These people ignored the bandits plundering Ellington and did nothing to help, they deserved to die!
In just a short time, the front courtyard of the lord's mansion was stained with blood, littered with bodies, and Tang En himself was drenched in blood.
The remaining few private soldiers trembled, unable to even stand.
"So, so powerful!"
Elsa watched Tang En in shock from a distance. Although he had saved her before, she hadn't seen him in close combat. Now she realized how powerful he was!
"Yes..."
Aberdon nodded in agreement, "If he can awaken his talent and become an Awakened, and focus on sword skills, he will surely achieve something."
"What are you doing!"
At this moment, Hogg's butler suddenly came out of the lord's mansion and shouted, "Tang En is the lord's guest. How can you attack a guest! Stop immediately!"
The few private soldiers were almost in tears. It wasn't a matter of whether they stopped, but whether the other side would let them go.
Tang En glanced at the butler and smiled meaningfully, casually sticking the long sword into the ground.
He had noticed that the butler was there to protect the private soldiers, which suited his plans.
These private soldiers couldn't be killed yet, especially the captain, as he had some questions to ask them.
Tang En asked, "Is this how Baron Hogg treats his guests?"
The butler's brows furrowed. He noticed that Tang En used the title of baron for Hogg, hinting at his own lordship. However...
"The lord is the lord of this land. Everything here belongs to Lord Hogg. How he treats his guests is not for others to criticize."
The butler turned around and said indifferently, "Come in, the lord has been waiting for you for a long time."
Fiona muttered, "So many people died, and this guy still acts so high and mighty."
"That's because in their eyes, these private soldiers are expendable. Dead is dead."
Tang En said sarcastically, "And you don't think that guy really intended to invite us, do you?"
"Of course not."
"So, be careful, follow my lead—my face isn't black, right?"
Fiona was taken aback, "Of course not, why ask that?"
"Make sure you can see clearly."
Compared to the outside, the interior of the lord's mansion was even more luxurious. Huge magic crystal chandeliers emitted dazzling light, as if the expensive magic crystals were burning inside. The marble floor was polished to a mirror finish. Tang En looked down and then regretfully raised his head—Fiona's crinoline-style floor-length dress completely covered the beautiful scenery.
Soon, Tang En and the others followed the butler to the banquet hall.
"Welcome, welcome!"
As soon as they entered the banquet hall, Hogg laughed and came forward, "As the lord of Ellington, I never expected my territory to welcome such distinguished guests."
Fiona's face was unfriendly, "I don't think any noble would welcome their guests with weapons!"
"Misunderstanding! Pure misunderstanding!"
Hogg waved his hands, his face full of smiles, "I have already given orders, but there might have been a misunderstanding in the communication—after all, word of mouth can easily lead to misunderstandings."
Go to hell!
How could "inviting guests" be misunderstood as "killing guests"!?
