“Angering Me Is Not a Good Idea”
The mood is somewhat awkward, with a slight sense of absurdity all over.
Magician is still processing his astonishing discovery, able to construct a reason for why he could not establish Jiang Yiyi’s modus operandi——Because Jiang Yiyi thinks he is a good person while continuously committing insane actions.
His consciousness and actions are already in conflict, making them, the observers, equally misled. Is it not normal, then, for a profile to be unable to be established?
Factoring this in may be key to analysing Jiang Yiyi accurately.
Magician finds himself exhilarated at the prospects——Will Doctor’s mysterious veil finally be lifted? Will the shadow that lies unseen finally reveal its true form?
An excitement certainly understandable of someone who has repeatedly been set back and forced to re-evaluate his work.
Regardless, he is quite visibly excited even to the casual observer. He must be thinking of something interesting.
Jiang Yiyi stares at Magician for a few seconds, and decides to act on his noble and upstanding nature, reminding him, “while I do not know what are you thinking about, but I must remind you.”
Magician looks at him, with a bright spark in his eyes that have come about as a result of discovering a great secret.
“Whatever it is that you just concluded about me.” Jiang Yiyi smiles, calmly and confidently, “it is wrong.”
Magician’s mood sinks back down the valley rather quickly. Jiang Yiyi’s calm words have dragged his restless self back to the cold and unforgiving reality land.
Whether they would actually be able to analyse Jiang Yiyi’s patterns aside, Jiang Yiyi is still a dangerous person to be.
Contact, conversations, and even simply locking eyes can be the means by which he affects others. In this context, they ought to be relieved not because they will know Jiang Yiyi better, but that Jiang Yiyi has such a misunderstanding in the first place.
No matter what, an insane person who believes themselves righteous should be no worse than an insane person who believes in no moral guidance whatsoever… right?
Magician cannot say that for sure, because Jiang Yiyi will not allow him to say it——Oddly enough, the vibe he takes from Jiang Yiyi is that he will be the source of all that is unspeakable.
Or, perhaps it is more accurate to say, that he is standing there, and so now, there are only his rules in play.
He is in control of it all, is what everyone believes firmly.
Still, the bottom floor of Stargaol isn’t some place where a personal order can be easily established like many other places.
Magician looks back at the overtly sharp building ahead.
Those who have no idea what the bottom floor is actually like will often have unrealistic fantasies about it. Only when someone comes in person would they know why this place can be called ‘Hell.’
Gatekeeper waits patiently for some time, and, seeing Magician no longer inclined to speak up, then makes a mental note of concern for Magician, before breaking the silence, “let’s go.”
He takes a step towards Block One, when he stops rather abruptly, and looks back at Lin Yi, Jian Si and Lunatic.
“1-002 is a single cell.” Magician reacts soon enough, and chimes in, “Lin Yi is an Outstanding Supervisor, so you will get employee lodgings. As for the others…”
He glances towards Gatekeeper.
Gatekeeper is keeping his eye on Jiang Yiyi, remaining silent.
“We will arrange other rooms.” Magician says with a smile, “as a service, we can grant an exception for you to live in a double cell.”
Lunatic’s gaze shifts slightly, speaking for the first time here, “n-no.”
Jian Si was going to say something, but then shuts his mouth after Lunatic did.
“A ‘no’ right back at ya.” Magician gives his reply immediately, “rules are the rules…”
He notices Jiang Yiyi’s gaze, causing him to do a second take, “but of course, we are not simply denying out of procedure, but we are also trying to protect your lives.”
He pushing his imaginary cap down, speaking with a dramatic tone, “where Doctor is going to live is going to kill you if you just followed blindly.”
Then he turns to Jiang Yiyi, “in fact, I cannot understand this decision either.”
“Doctor, you should know that weaker beings easily perish in unfamiliar environments.” Magician glances at Jian Si, “they are not the same as Doctor, and I do not think you need companions. What is it that made you bring them with you?”
“Do you believe that you can protect them personally, Doctor, or for other reasons we do not yet know?”
To be honest, Magician is not only fearless, but also exceptionally loyal to his career. Jiang Yiyi finds himself impressed a little. Despite his earlier warning, Magician is still working hard to decipher his thoughts.
This calls for admiration——The same that Jiang Yiyi has for all the people that would be willing to sacrifice their lives for a greater cause.
Therefore, this time, Jiang Yiyi is generously open with his answer, “the latter.”
Magician easily notices the slight shift in attitude. He may not know why, but he immediately latches onto the opportunity to continue asking, “would you mind sharing a little more?”
“Before I do, I would make one thing clear.”
He says, coldly, “Lunatic’s fate is of no concern to me.”
Magician nods, unsurprised, “true, Lunatic failed his evaluation for reasons unrelated to you.”
“As for Lin Yi and Jian Si…” Jiang Yiyi glances at Lin Yi, “the former is a prison officer himself, while the latter…” He pauses, looking at the ‘Menace’ label, then states earnestly, “he won’t die.”
What kind of description is ‘he won’t die’? Magician looks at the harmless-looking Jian Si following Jiang Yiyi’s gaze, unable to discern which part it is that makes him ‘invincible.’ In fact, it is more apparent that he is the kind of weakling that will be chewed up upon entering the fifth floor.
Jian Si is just as confused.
And also, in shock——So it turns out, Doctor sees that much potential in him?
Surviving no matter the dangerous circumstances?
Jian Si has never thought about what he can achieve in the face of death. He had a metamorphosis not long ago, learning not to fear death or pain any longer, so naturally, he would not assume that this is as far as he could go.
Even so, Jiang Yiyi’s assertion is beyond his wildest imagination——He knows better than to question Doctor’s judgement, though, and so does everyone else here.
Meaning, he is astonished by how much potential he must have.
Wait, what’s this? Why is the person being analysed here also making the same shock-thought-epiphany face here?
Magician knows he really should not question Jiang Yiyi, but… Jian Si, really is unremarkable, and has no quality of note——That kind of ‘metamorphosis’ wasn’t much to write home about in the eyes of people like Magician.
Anyone here——Even the prisoners in that building could have easily killed Jian Si.
