Burris was about to retort when Skeleton King let go of the princess’s shoulder and happily extended his hands to him: “Good! My friend Burris Gershaw! Come!”
“What ‘come’? Why do you seem to be looking forward to it? ”
“Because I’m just looking forward to it.”
“My kiss is useless; it can’t help you!”
The Skeleton King maintained the posture of extending his hands: “It is not useless; it can put me in a good mood.”
“You… How can you be such a person? ”
“Well, I won’t tease you.” The man pointed to the coffin next to him. “I know it won’t help me. I want to help you. This is also part of our mutual benefit. My friend, I can see that you are not satisfied with your present body, but your original body is already very old. I’m afraid it can’t bear the magic of transforming into a Lich… Do you want to be healthy again? ”
Burris was stunned: “You mean…”
“Come and kiss me, I can help you regain your health through this kiss.” Then, the King walked to the side of the coffin and moved his fingers. After moving them, the lid of the coffin floated by itself and fell aside. “During the kiss, I have to hold his…oh no, your hand.” He knelt down, pinched the skin folds on the face of the body, frowned, and then held the body’s hand.
“Burris, come and kiss me”
Burris hesitated for a moment. Estel sighed beside him. “Mentor, wouldn’t you even sacrifice your soul if it were necessary? How could you be so stingy with a kiss? ”
The Skeleton King held out his other hand to Burris and motioned him to come quickly. The mage put down his staff, frowned and approached him, resting his left hand on the palm of the king covered with hard scales. With a fierce force, the king drew him over and embraced him.
Looking at this pale, ordinary, earless, and hairless face, the king shook his head: “To be honest, I don’t want to kiss you like this, so don’t think too much about it, it’s purely for spellcasting.”
“I… understand.” There was a stir in Burris heart. Just now, Estel said that she had never kissed a man, but… he had never kissed anyone either! However, kissing the Skeleton King might not be regarded as kissing a ‘person’? This made him feel a little relieved.
The skeleton like face of the king was covered with black fine scales, and the beastlike fangs were completely exposed outside the lips. This face was only suitable for eating human flesh, not for kissing. What the king secretly admired was that Burris didn’t panic when facing this hideous face at close range, at most, he was just a little nervous.
Perhaps because necromancers had seen all kinds of strange things, this level of terror was nothing to them…The Skeleton King was a little disappointed.
He held Burris’s corpse in one hand, held Burris’s current body in the other, and put his mouth close to the living Burris. Hard teeth touched the soft lips, pushing the powerful spell into Burris’s mouth. The mage’s body trembled a few times, and then, a black mist rose from under their feet, enveloping the two men kissing and the corpse in the coffin.
Estel quickly recited an incantation and casted a magic spell to see through the magical black mist. She found that the body of the 19-year-old bald man was slowly withering in the king’s arms, while the body her mentor inside the coffin sat up.
He not only sat up, but also convulsed all over, scratched his hands and coughed violently… His shriveled flesh was plump again, his skin changed from gray to a healthy color, the age spots on his face quickly faded, and his head even began to grow thick hair….Finally, the Skeleton King let go of the 19 years old bald corpse that had become withered bones. He turned around and focused on the man sitting up from the coffin.
Now leaning on the king’s arms was a young man in his twenties. He had long, shoulder-length flaxen hair, and a pair of grayish green, big and watery eyes. Because of the convulsion and cough just now, his white skin was faintly crimson…
Estel was so scared that she couldn’t believe it. This turned out to be her old mentor who was over eighty years old!
When she met Burris during her illness, Burris was already in his seventies. There were no portraits in the tower, so she had never seen Burris when he was young. Years were simply a dragon-slaying spear. Who would have thought that the old mage who wore dentures every day was such a delicate boy?
The black mist gradually dissipated, and the Skeleton King extended a hand to Estel: “Princess, do you have a mirror?”
“Yes.” Estel immediately handed over her little vanity mirror. She wanted to see the expression of her mentor when he looked in the mirror.
The young Burris hadn’t woken up yet, his eyes were out of focus, and he leaned against the king’s chest, panting, looking in trance. When the king put the mirror in front of him, he slowly opened his eyes, and his lips trembled for a long time before he cried out with difficulty: “This is me!”
“Yes, it’s you.” The Skeleton King helped him tidy up his messy hair. “That’s what I saw you when I saw you back then.”
Burris grabbed the mirror: “By the Arcane above! I look so alive!”
The Skeleton King said triumphantly: “You are alive. This is not an illusion, nor is it to evoke the dead. I brought your body back to its prime of youth, and I’m going to infuse your present soul in tune with it.”
“Strange, I feel very weak…” Burris struggled a few times in the king’s arms. His body was so limp that he couldn’t sit down without leaning on him.
The king said, “It is because your soul and body are not yet fully synchronized. It’s going get better. You have to be patient before that. ”
After speaking, he stretched out his hand to Estel: “Well, your Royal Highness, now come and kiss me and we can go back.”
Estel walked over and quickly kissed the Skeleton King. Soon, the hall began to shake, the bones were smashed into powder, and the obsidian steps were broken into small pieces. The slowly moving walls of the Fog Tower turned into a whirlwind, which surrounded the hall with the fragments of bones and obsidian.
The Skeleton King stood up, took a deep breath and raised his chest and his head. The Dragon skeleton behind the throne also opened his mouth. They both looked up to the sky and roared.
At the sound of the roar, all the white bone powder gathered towards the dragon skeleton, filling its bones, and turning into its flesh… Soon, a full-blooded gray dragon appeared in front of the three of them. The Dragon swung its tail and jumped out of the hurricane. The hurricane stretched out several thin tentacles to it and turned into a set of black bridles connecting the hall.
The dragon puffed up its wings and rushed to the sky, with the hall behind. At the moment the floor was completely tilted, the Skeleton King held Burris tightly with one hand, and grabbed Estel with the other. His sight went over the dragon’s back and saw a hole in the gray sky. On the other side of the hole was the setting sun of the human world.
When he woke up, Burris was lying on the couch in the lounge of the tower. It was so bright outside that he seemed to have been sleeping all night.
His robe was replaced by a long nightgown, and his head was covered with a silk lined cashmere nightcap. He was covered with a sheet of cloth, a thin quilt, a fleece blanket, a quilt, layers of duvets, a layer of long cashmere leather blanket… Lying under this pile of quilts, he couldn’t even turn over. Burris suspected that this was what it was like to be buried alive.
It took him a lot of hard work to get out and he sat on the sofa panting for a long time. There were plush slippers on the carpet, milk tea and soft cookies on the table. The housekeeping golem standing against the wall bowed to him: “Master, how are you resting? Her Royal Highness and your guest are waiting for you in the reception room.”
Burris nodded, stood up from the table and went to the mirror hanging on the wall. In fact, he had already touched his face and knew what it was like without having to look at himself. But when he looked at his own image in the mirror, his heart was still beating wildly.
Heavens, a young face and body! His hair was thick, the skin was smooth, teeth were complete, the joints did not feel painful, his eyes are not wrinkled, the curvature of the spine was normal, and there were no tingling sensation on the neck when turning from left to right…By the Arcane above, now he has a body of 20 years old, a memory and soul of 84 years old, and this is not an illusion, nor is it a spell to deceive death, he is really completely younger!
Burris sighed and exclaimed; he really deserves to be a demigod Skeleton King. It was impossible for humans to freely manipulate the body’s birth, age, sickness and death… Humans may be able to use spells to possess corpses, transform into Liches, and so on, but the essence is just making a fuss on corpses, not really escape the limits of life and death.
However, getting younger also would bring some additional small troubles… There was no problem with the mechanism and the magic golems in the tower, They can still recognize Burris, because they trust in his soul and unique arcane seal, but if Burris leaves the tower, he may encounter various inconveniences.
Burris sat down and thought while drinking milk tea. There will be many interviews and meetings waiting for him in the future. How should he explain the current situation then? Maybe it can be said simply and roughly that is an illusion? But the fellow mages would definitely notice something strange…
As he was thinking, the door of the lounge was pushed open with a bang. Burris frowned, remembering Estel would not be so rude. Walking in came a tall young man, with ice blue eyes and sharp facial features, with the characteristics of southern ancestry. His long, slightly curled black hair was tied into a small messy bun behind his head. Wearing a simple cotton shirt and trousers, he stepped barefoot on the plush carpet, looking lazy.
When he saw Burris, the man suddenly opened his arms, his eyes lit up, started laughing and rushed forward.
