"Does Aoyama have any plans for what to do next?" Yamawaki Natsu asked.
"Planning to go to Fukuyuki's place next," Aoyama replied.
"Going to Hitagi's place? Is there something you need to do?" Yamawaki Natsu's eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint in them.
"Assist her in her cultivation, to speed up the cleansing of her body," Aoyama answered.
"Huh? Hitagi is so lucky to have Aoyama to help! I want Aoyama to help me too!" Yamawaki Natsu pouted, clearly frustrated.
It must be said that when the usually elegant, serious, and earnest young lady starts to act coquettishly, the impact is immense.
"There's nothing I can do about that. I can still help a bit with the cultivation of true qi, but I'm truly powerless when it comes to magic cultivation! However, since you are a natural witch and have years of experience manipulating gemstone magic, the cleansing of your body should still be quite fast," Aoyama said with a smile.
"Both start with the cleansing of the body!" Yamawaki Natsu complained.
"Yes! Both start with the cleansing of the body, but if my true qi were to join in to help cleanse your body, it would only make your body deviate further from a magical constitution," Aoyama shook his head and said.
Magic cultivation is completely different from true qi cultivation, and this is most evident in the first step. Although both start with the cleansing of the body to make it capable of storing magic or true qi, this is why magic and cultivation cannot be practiced simultaneously. A body that can store magic is entirely different from one that can store true qi.
If you cleanse your body to store magic, then you can only store magic. If you cleanse your body to store true qi, then you can only store true qi. One could say that the direction of cultivation is set from the very beginning and cannot be changed later.
As a witch, although you have a natural affinity for magic, your constitution is still that of an ordinary person. To cultivate magic, the first step of cleansing the body is still essential.
So, while Aoyama might be able to help in the later stages of magic cultivation, he can't help at all in the initial cleansing of the body, because his true qi would only make the person's constitution deviate further from a magical one.
"Since Aoyama is going to Hitagi's place, I'll go too," Yamawaki Natsu said, her eyes twinkling. She was determined to minimize the time Aoyama and Fukuyuki spent alone together.
"No," Fukuyuki immediately objected, who had been silent until then.
"Why not? Does Hitagi not welcome me? We are still friends, after all," Yamawaki Natsu looked at Fukuyuki with a puzzled expression.
"When did we become friends!" Fukuyuki immediately retorted.
"Hmph, we are good friends who love to fight! We've even drawn swords on each other, so how can we not be friends!" Yamawaki Natsu said with a mischievous smile.
"Since you say we are already friends, can I come to your place anytime I want?" Fukuyuki countered.
"Of course! Hitagi, you are always welcome to come to my place whenever you want," Yamawaki Natsu said with open arms.
"Hmph." Fukuyuki coldly snorted, realizing she couldn't out-talk Yamawaki.
"Alright, alright, stop arguing! If you want to go, then go together!" Aoyama, who was getting a headache from their bickering, quickly tried to mediate.
Thus, Yamawaki Natsu successfully got her way, breaking through Fukuyuki's defenses with her words and securing the right to go to Fukuyuki's place. The three of them set off for Fukuyuki's home, stopping by the supermarket to buy ingredients for dinner.
"Lord Aoyama, why don't you have dinner at my place tonight!" Fukuyuki, selecting fresh vegetables and meat, looked at Aoyama expectantly.
"Sure! Aoyama, let's have dinner at Hitagi's place tonight," Yamawaki Natsu immediately answered for Aoyama.
"I didn't ask you," Fukuyuki coldly replied.
"Huh? Does that mean Hitagi doesn't welcome me and Aoyama?" Yamawaki Natsu twisted the words.
"How could that be? Of course, I welcome you," Fukuyuki quickly said, but then realized she had been tricked again.
"Looks like Hitagi still welcomes me!" Yamawaki Natsu said with a smile.
"Natsu!" Aoyama suddenly placed his hand on Yamawaki Natsu's shoulder, looking at her seriously.
"Huh? What's wrong, Aoyama?" Yamawaki Natsu asked, confused.
"That's enough. You're always targeting Fukuyuki, and it's not like you!" Aoyama said earnestly.
Fukuyuki was stunned and didn't say anything.
Yamawaki Natsu was also stunned, then suddenly realized that her constant targeting of Fukuyuki was having the opposite effect, making Aoyama see Fukuyuki as the weaker party. She needed to change her strategy and be less aggressive in front of Aoyama in the future.
"I understand!" Yamawaki Natsu nodded, then bowed to Fukuyuki, "Hitagi, I'm very sorry for losing my temper just now!"
"Yamawaki, you are too kind. I also had my faults," Fukuyuki immediately returned the bow.
Aoyama, watching this, knew exactly what Yamawaki was thinking. He couldn't help but sigh, realizing that compared to Yamawaki's cunning and adaptability, Fukuyuki was too innocent. However, having seen many palace intrigues in his past life, Aoyama knew he was powerless to change anything. He had done all he could.
"Alright, then let's have dinner at Fukuyuki's place tonight! I'll call Shiro Oni to tell her not to prepare dinner for me," Aoyama said, taking out his phone and calling Shiro Oni.
The call was quickly answered, and Aoyama briefly explained that he would be having dinner at Fukuyuki's place before hanging up.
Aoyama, Yamawaki Natsu, and Fukuyuki continued shopping at the supermarket. Yamawaki Natsu, being extremely friendly, even offered to help Fukuyuki pick out ingredients, though as a young lady, she had no idea how to choose them. Nevertheless, this gesture did reduce some of Fukuyuki's hostility.
However, the fundamental conflict of interests still made Fukuyuki wary and repelled by Yamawaki.
Even though Yamawaki Natsu appeared to be very close to Fukuyuki, even going so far as to link arms with her while picking vegetables, Fukuyuki's movements were stiff from the moment Yamawaki linked arms with her. Her arm felt as heavy as lead, and if Aoyama weren't watching, she might have drawn her sword and cut Yamawaki down.
However, if someone unfamiliar with them saw them shopping together, they might really think they were a pair of good friends!
