"Can't be, there's no ACG-related club here?" said Takaya, his face full of shock. He then took out his booklet and started flipping through it, but even after he finished, he found no relevant information. "You've got to be kidding me, our school is a prestigious one, and there's no such club?"
"Perhaps it's precisely because it's a prestigious school," said Morinatsu. He knew this was his mistake; choosing this school was a mistake.
Thinking about this, Morinatsu turned his head to look at the girls in their school uniforms, feeling even more disheartened.
Sakunou Academy is a century-old school, originally a combination of an English-style noble girls' school, a convent school, and a local Japanese school. After World War II, the three schools merged to become the current Sakunou Academy. Although the school has changed, some old traditions remain. The simplest example is... the girls' school uniform, which is actually a long skirt!
The boys' uniform is not mentioned, but the girls' uniform consists of a white shirt, a black long dress, and a black waist-cinching vest on top, with an additional winter vest on the outside.
In the 21st century, many schools in China have adopted black stockings and short skirts, but after coming to Japan, a country with a rich school uniform culture, Morinatsu saw such a conservative uniform, and his feelings were quite complex.
Of course, it's not that the uniform has no highlights. The dress has a deep V-neck design, exposing the entire chest area, and when paired with the black waist-cinching vest, if the wearer has a well-endowed chest, it would definitely be a highlight.
However...
Morinatsu scanned the entire 1-2 class and shook his head speechlessly.
He admitted that if the girls had sufficiently large chests, this design would be perfect, but this is high school, and the uniforms are worn by underdeveloped teenagers, making it almost unbearable to look at. If worn by girls with poor figures, it would almost be a form of mental pollution.
In addition to the "unique" school uniform, Sakunou Academy's indoor shoes are also different. Although the style is similar to other schools, the material is entirely leather, and the girls' indoor shoes have a three-inch heel, making them quite eye-catching. Of course, during physical education classes, these shoes must be changed, along with the gym clothes.
This set of clothes, while giving an impression of dignity and elegance, seems to lack the vitality that students should have, much like the lifeless Japanese corporations.
"If there isn't one, then it's fine."
Since there isn't one, he would just join the "Go Home Club" and go home early every day.
Originally, according to Morinatsu's plan, joining a club would make it easier to find helpers (labor) and participate in comic conventions or game development, which would be very convenient. He was too young before, but now that he's in high school, the timing is right.
However, since Sakunou Academy doesn't have an ACG-related club, he can't force it. His plan doesn't necessarily require a club, as he can still write novels.
Thinking this, Morinatsu pulled out a small palm-sized notebook from his pocket.
He opened the notebook, and on it were six Chinese characters: "Earth Defense Boys."
"Morinatsu, what did you write? Is this... Chinese?" Takaya asked, leaning in again.
"Yeah, I'm learning Chinese," Morinatsu replied, fudging the answer.
Although Japanese was as fluent as his native language in Morinatsu's mind, he still preferred to think in Chinese.
As a穿越者 (穿越者 means "穿越者" in Chinese, which can be translated as "time traveler" or "穿越者"), if he didn't want to do anything, it would be a disgrace. Morinatsu's dream was to change the world, and the idea of transitioning from the α world line to the β world line seemed very interesting.
Theoretically, the easiest thing for a time traveler to do is make money. There are many ways to make money through speculation, and buying lottery tickets or gambling should be easy for a time traveler. However, this world is slightly different from the original world. While the overall structure is the same, some details may differ.
For example, at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the United States won 40 gold medals, which is 4 fewer than what Morinatsu knew from the original world. Another example is Sakunou Academy, which always gives him a sense of déjà vu. If it weren't for the different uniforms, Morinatsu might have thought that the two onion-heads had brought him to an anime world.
Of course, some things might be due to the butterfly effect. Studies show that the relationship between people is roughly six degrees of separation, meaning you can connect to anyone in the world through six people. If Morinatsu influences someone here, through six people, he could potentially influence the President of the United States or change the schedule of Chinese leaders. The flapping of a butterfly's wings can cause a hurricane in North America, and a small change could lead to significant consequences. Therefore, Morinatsu has given up on the idea of speculation.
However, since he is a time traveler from another world, he naturally has some resources.
Although he can't remember everything and can't be prescient, as a former Chinese otaku, Morinatsu is very familiar with various ACGN (animation, comics, games, novels) content.
So what Morinatsu plans to do is... well, not exactly, but write a novel.
"Earth Defense Boys," also known as "Earth Bento Boys" and "Uninstall" due to its theme song, is originally a manga.
The story is about 15 boys piloting giant robots to protect the world.
However, the story is quite dark because the price of piloting the robots is death. After piloting the robot once, the pilot dies. If they fail, the Earth will be destroyed.
Even darker is the fact that their enemies are robots from another Earth, meaning that each victory for the protagonists means the destruction of another Earth.
However, the ending is good, and the Earth is ultimately saved.
In summary, although the process is tortuous, the ending is bright. It's a heartwarming story where the Earth, built on the ruins of countless other Earths, moves toward the future. Congratulations, congratulations.
In fact, this is not the first time Morinatsu has written this story. The first time, he was very enthusiastic and wrote a whole book, but it was undoubtedly rejected. The reason was simple: poor writing.
It's not that Morinatsu's writing was unclear, but his style didn't quite fit the Japanese style.
Do you think being a literary plagiarist is easy?
No, being a literary plagiarist requires a lot of skill. Language, writing style, and the audience's taste are all important. Just like how martial arts novels that were popular in the 1980s have largely disappeared in the 21st century. After traveling through time, writing a book and becoming rich and famous, with fame and glory pouring in, is not writing a novel; it's just a joke.
However, Morinatsu was a writer in his previous life. After being rejected, he studied classic Japanese works like "No Longer Human" and "Rashomon," as well as modern popular works like "Slayers" and "Legend of the Galactic Heroes." Combining his life in Japan and the cultural differences between China and Japan, he gradually understood that he wasn't "中二" (chuuni, meaning "middle school" or "adolescent" in a specific context, often used to describe a certain type of behavior or attitude).
So this time, after entering high school, Morinatsu decided to rewrite this story. This time, he was going to do it seriously.
...
PS: The original name of this book was "Sun in Tokyo," but it didn't pass. What the heck...
