"Indeed, I smelled the same scent." The mouse nodded and squeaked twice. Of course, Su Jing heard it as a child's voice.
"What about it, did you find it?" Wang Xiao looked at the mouse standing up and nodding, and was once again stunned, thinking how human-like it was. But precisely because it was so human-like, even they understood the mouse's affirmative response.
"I found the same scent, so it should be correct." Su Jing said.
"Then let's hurry over." Wang Xiao said, first reporting to the police station. Because he had promised Su Jing, he did not say it was the mouse who found it, but rather a dog. Then he led the special police team and Su Jing, following the mouse.
Of course, they did not walk in a line, as that would be too conspicuous. Only Su Jing and Wang Xiao closely followed the mouse, while the others and the dogs got into the cars and followed. To ensure Su Jing could keep up, the mouse could not go down the sewers, so when passing through streets with people, some passersby saw two men following a mouse and were stunned. Some took out their phones to take pictures, and one hooligan even tried to stomp on the mouse, but was easily taken down by Wang Xiao.
"It's not far now." As they moved away from the city center to a more remote industrial area, Su Jing suddenly said.
"Stop the cars and wait." Wang Xiao, fearing the kidnappers would notice, ordered the other special police cars to stop. Wang Xiao and Su Jing continued to follow the mouse, eventually approaching an abandoned factory.
"They should be in that factory." Su Jing said.
"Let's not get too close. We need to figure out the situation inside first." Wang Xiao said.
"Do you have a wireless pinhole camera?" Su Jing suddenly asked.
"Of course." Wang Xiao nodded.
"Can I borrow one?" Su Jing said.
"Wait, I don't have it with me." Wang Xiao glanced at the mouse on the ground and guessed Su Jing's intention, his eyes brightening. He contacted the other special police via the walkie-talkie, instructing them to park in a nearby spot hidden by buildings. The special police quickly arrived, bringing the camera equipment.
Su Jing inserted the pinhole camera into a piece of bread, and the mouse carried the bread to the abandoned factory. Su Jing, Wang Xiao, and the others could see the footage from the camera on their computer screens.
The mouse ran to the abandoned factory, then entered through a hole, climbed into a room on the east side, and perched on a beam, looking down at the room. The mouse had an advantage over dogs: its small size allowed it to move around without being easily noticed, and even if seen, it wouldn't attract much attention.
As the mouse looked down, the footage from the camera made Su Jing and the others tense.
They saw two men and two women tied to chairs, their mouths gagged with cloth. One of the men, a handsome youth with earrings, was missing his left ear and his left index finger. Another handsome youth with a chiseled face was also missing his left index finger. The two women, though physically intact, were pale and had dry, cracked lips, indicating their poor condition. One of them, a beautiful woman with a heart-shaped face, was Wang Yan.
Additionally, there were four men in the room. One of them, a long-faced youth, was playing with a knife and leering at Wang Yan, saying, "Brother, isn't it almost time? How are Biao and Qing doing?"
"The parents have brought the money to the overpass and are following A Biao's orders to move to the next location. I hope they don't try any tricks." A tall, cold-eyed man said, playing with a gun in his hand.
"Once we get the money, can we play with them?" The long-faced youth laughed, his lecherous gaze making Wang Yan's face even paler as she struggled violently, only to have the ropes cut into her skin, leaving bruises.
"What do you know besides playing with women? With the money, will you lack for women? Once we get the money, we'll deal with them and leave immediately." The tall man looked at the four hostages, his eyes cold as if they were already dead.
"Ah, what a pity." The long-faced youth sighed, looking regretful. The other two men, one was focused on a video monitor, and the other was using a telescope to check the surroundings from the window.
"These bastards really plan to kill the hostages to cover their tracks." Wang Xiao's face was grim. This was not unexpected, as the hostages had interacted a lot with the kidnappers and would reveal a lot of information, so for ruthless kidnappers, killing them to cover their tracks was a common move.
"Everyone, start setting up ambushes. Shao Le, Old Fang, find a sniper position as soon as possible..." Wang Xiao quickly gave orders, and all the special police spread out to surround the abandoned factory. Shao Le and Old Fang found a high vantage point nearby, but unfortunately, they could only shoot two of the kidnappers from the window.
Wang Xiao reported back to the police station, asking them to delay the money transfer and send reinforcements. Wang Xiao's special police team was skilled in shooting, but only Shao Le and Old Fang were true snipers. Moreover, the factory's structure limited their line of sight, allowing them to shoot only two kidnappers directly. Instantly killing two would be useless if the other two panicked and started a massacre, putting the four hostages in danger. To ensure the safety of the hostages, it would be best to kill all four kidnappers simultaneously.
So now, Wang Xiao, Su Jing, and the others could only wait for reinforcements. Su Jing did not idle, controlling a mouse to send a message, quickly bringing over more than two thousand tamed mice. Su Jing had them all enter the abandoned factory, surrounding the room and climbing onto the beams.
"Do you have any small knives?" Su Jing asked.
"Yes." Wang Xiao, without asking what they were for, gave Su Jing three small knives.
"Thanks." Su Jing took the knives, took off his jacket, and covered his face.
"Just stay here and don't move." Wang Xiao did not stop Su Jing from covering his face but did not intend to let him take risks. Su Jing nodded in agreement but gripped the three knives tightly.
After a while, a bad message came from the police station. They had successfully delayed the time, and reinforcements were on their way, but it seemed to have caught the attention of the two kidnappers responsible for collecting the money.
"Bad news, the police are involved." One of the kidnappers said after receiving a call.
"Quick, let's get out of here." The cold-eyed man's face darkened, standing up without hesitation, taking a knife and approaching a hostage. The other three kidnappers also approached their respective hostages, clearly preparing to kill them to cover their tracks.
"Go." Seeing this on the surveillance footage, Wang Xiao knew they couldn't wait for reinforcements. He said one word into the walkie-talkie, and Shao Le and Old Fang fired simultaneously, the two shots sounding as one. Two kidnappers were instantly killed, and the special police at the door broke in, with Wang Xiao rushing forward.
Su Jing did not idle, whistling and charging forward like a cheetah.
