On April 5th, a beautiful Saturday morning. The weather was pleasant, the sun was shining, and the birds were singing. Today, there was no work and no school, what a wonderful day it was.
Yang Qi woke up from a deep sleep and slowly sat up. He looked out the window at the spring scenery, his face showing a strange expression as if he had traveled through time. Suddenly, Yang Qi seemed to remember something and felt his body—there was a set of kung fu clothes neatly worn.
Why would someone who just woke up be wearing kung fu clothes? The style looked quite old.
Yang Qi suddenly stood up and quickly walked to the bathroom mirror, lifting his shirt—two pectoral muscles, eight abs, and various other muscles that couldn't be named appeared neatly in their proper places, making the 1.8-meter-tall Yang Qi look tall and well-proportioned.
What a great physique! Middle-aged women would surely be unable to look away!
"No, no, no, I must be seeing things. I'm just a lazy office worker, working from eight in the morning to six at night, how could I possibly have eight abs and a six-pack? It must be my eyes playing tricks on me..." Yang Qi shook his head repeatedly, refusing to believe his 500-degree myopia.
Right, myopia!
He returned to the bedside, picked up his glasses, and put them on. The familiar sensation on his nose gave him a sense of security, as if he couldn't live without them. People with long-term myopia really can't afford to be hurt.
"This time it should be right, let me check again. It's impossible, it must have been just a dream..." Yang Qi suddenly opened his eyes and stumbled, almost falling.
Oh my—dizzy!
Yang Qi quickly took off his glasses, and the world returned to normal.
"No, no, no, this is definitely strange! It's definitely strange!" Since he started junior high at twelve, his glasses had been with him for thirteen years. Over the years, his prescription had increased to over 500 degrees. One could say that glasses were already a part of him. Without glasses, Yang Qi wasn't a complete Yang Qi, but now he had woken up and found himself not myopic!
"What's going on? It was just a strange dream, why does it feel like the opening of the first Spider-Man movie..." Yang Qi laughed dryly, then suddenly became serious and stopped laughing.
He decided to conduct an experiment to figure out what had happened.
He opened the door and stepped out into the hallway. Yang Qi's place wasn't fancy or cheap, it was a middle-class residential area. The building was 23 stories high, and Yang Qi lived on the 14th floor. At this height, no one except those intentionally exercising would take the stairs. So, standing in the stairwell, Yang Qi saw no one around.
He looked solemnly at the handrail leading down. The handrail was waist-high and very smooth. In a junior high school, someone would definitely sit on it and slide down the slope.
Yang Qi had never slid down a handrail. On one hand, he wasn't very active, and on the other, he didn't think his balance and athletic ability could handle such a high-precision movement.
But now, today, Yang Qi, who had just woken up from a dream, looked at the handrail with a serious expression, like a diver looking at a diving board.
Yang Qi took a deep breath, and as he inhaled, his whole body moved in a certain pattern. He shook his shoulders, flicked his wrists, and drew circles with his feet. As he slowly exhaled, Yang Qi moved his entire body, as if he were a bullet loaded into a gun, his spirit and energy fully focused.
"Ha!" Yang Qi let out a low shout, and with a powerful leg push, he easily stood on the handrail from a standing position. Wearing simple, old-fashioned cloth shoes, the soles of his shoes rubbed against the handrail, and with a squeak, Yang Qi slid down.
After a small sway, Yang Qi stood steadily on the handrail like Wong Fei-hung. Although he was sliding down, he looked as stable as if he were in an elevator.
In a moment, the handrail came to an end, and Yang Qi leaped down lightly.
"It's really... different..." Yang Qi seemed to realize something, and as he looked back at the long staircase, his eyes seemed to burn with a fiery light.
Taking a deep breath, Yang Qi stepped and accelerated, kicking off the left wall with a slap and leaping into the air. He did a side flip and landed on the opposite side of the staircase. Reaching out to grab the handrail, he swung down a whole floor with the agility of a monkey. Yang Qi seemed to get excited and moved without touching the ground, leaping and bounding between the walls and the handrail, quickly descending the stairs.
In a moment, he had reached the bottom. Yang Qi did a forward flip off the handrail and landed steadily on his feet with a slap—this landing would definitely score high in a sports competition! Maybe not at the Olympics, but definitely in the National Games.
Collecting his slightly scattered breath, Yang Qi looked up and stepped out of the stairwell. Outside was the neighborhood lawn, and across from it was a city park. The spring sun shone on his face, and Yang Qi was so excited he couldn't help but laugh. "It's really—different!! Hahahaha!"
His hearty laughter drew the attention of many people, but since people often practiced in the park nearby, making sounds like "hmm" and "ha," no one found it too strange.
Regardless of what others thought, Yang Qi was too excited to suppress his feelings.
It turned out that last night wasn't a dream!
Then, the events of the night before last probably weren't an illusion either. It seemed that the situation was just too shocking for Yang Qi to accept at first. But now, with irrefutable evidence, he had to accept that he truly had kung fu skills.
He really went to another world and learned amazing kung fu!
More importantly, he had two bodies!
"I understand. If I call my two bodies A and B, when I sleep in this world as A, I become B in my dreams, and when I return from my dreams, I appear in the world as B..."
Thinking of his "B" body, Yang Qi's expression fell from excitement to a mix of amusement and frustration.
The story began two days ago.
On April 3rd, after working overtime until nine, Yang Qi finally returned home. Although he had been in the city for almost two years after graduating from university, he could only say he was used to life here, not that he had fully integrated. He was a laid-back person, and he could blend in easily in a city like Chengdu, but this place always made him feel oppressed.
Another busy day of work, Yang Qi had no interest in going online. He had long given up on online games. After a shower, he patted his small but noticeable belly, feeling powerless and self-deprecating.
Back in the day, I was a skilled dancer, no eight-pack, but a six-pack was negotiable, and a four-pack was definite. Look at me now, I'm a mess!
Putting on his pajamas, Yang Qi flopped onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
In the dream, he didn't know he was a guest, and in the night, he suddenly found himself back home. In a deep sleep, he vaguely heard someone calling him.
