Anger brought Molo to the stilt house where his mentor lived.
"Mentor is already resting, Mr. Molo, please allow me to go in first and inform him."
Molo nodded, and Anger went up to the second floor first.
"This house is built very uniquely; I didn't expect to see such a peculiar building on the Old Earth continent." Molo slightly praised the appearance of the stilt house. He had seen many strange buildings on the Fanc continent, and although the stilt house had a unique structure, it was still a mundane object. The main reason for his praise was that the builder of the stilt house was an ordinary person.
Although Molo was not particularly interested in the stilt house, Alan and Aileen could not resist their curiosity. They circled around the small house and, despite the rain, observed the vegetables and fruits planted by Jon in the courtyard's trellis.
The siblings' youthful nature had not completely faded, and even though they tried to act mature, their occasional actions still revealed a touch of innocence. This pure childishness made everyone smile involuntarily. Seeing their interest in the grape trellis, Leon had a sudden idea and took two bottles of red wine that had been stored for two years from the cellar, filling everyone's glasses.
The wine was rich and fragrant. Using the camaraderie of wine, Leon and Eaton began to discuss the front lines. Eaton also wanted to break the awkward silence, and the two quickly found common ground, making the atmosphere more relaxed.
On the other side, Anger went upstairs, first waking the mute servant to help the mentor change clothes. Then he sent the mute servant away and told the mentor the reason for his visit.
Jon was woken up in the middle of the night, and his consciousness had not yet recovered. It wasn't until Anger mentioned the word "wizard" that he suddenly reacted.
"Wizard? You said you encountered a wizard just now?" Jon grabbed Anger's sleeve with his withered hand, exclaiming in disbelief.
"Yes, to be precise, a third-level wizard apprentice. Molo calls himself that."
A look of confusion and curiosity flashed in Jon's eyes, followed by a sudden realization. He repeated, "I see, I see, that makes sense. Wizard, wizard! I have studied physical data for many years, and many formulas couldn't be applied. The source was here... I was wrong from the beginning. This world is not ordinary; it is a world with extraordinary powers!"
"Ha ha ha ha, I always thought my perspective was higher than that of the natives here, but in the end, I was trapped by my own perspective. Is this what it means to be self-imprisoned?" Jon looked out the window in confusion, shouting loudly.
His shout carried strong emotions of frustration and regret.
Even the people in the first-floor hall heard it. Molo listened carefully to the self-deprecating words, feeling puzzled. "What language is this? It's not the common language?"
Anger had not told Molo everything about Jon, neither his origin nor that the morning dew after the rain was planted by Jon. So, Molo had always thought Jon was from the empire.
"That's the language of Jon's homeland, called... Huaxia? I'm not too familiar with it either." Leon was also puzzled.
Huaxia? Molo thought for a moment, but he had no impression of this country. It must be a small, remote country, he thought. He didn't pay much attention to this detail. Although he was curious about the emotions in the shout, as a wizard apprentice, he had too many things to be curious about. There was no need to waste valuable time on ordinary people's affairs.
Moreover, he had just advanced to a senior apprentice and wanted to resolve Anger's troubles as soon as possible, leave the Old Earth continent, and return to the academy for further studies. Nothing was more important than his own strength.
With this in mind, Molo closed his eyes and began to meditate.
...
Not long after, Anger brought Jon, whose expression had returned to calm, downstairs.
Jon did not let Anger support him. Before his legs atrophied, he had designed a wheelchair himself, which could easily go up and down stairs with some axles and springs.
Molo learned from Leon that the wheelchair Jon was sitting in was designed by him. He couldn't help but marvel: "His mechanical talent is very strong. If he had the talent and pursued alchemy, he might have achieved great success. It's just a pity... even with talent, he is too old."
Molo's first impression of Jon was that he was "old."
He himself was nearly eighty years old. Because he had not broken through to become a formal wizard, he could only let time change his appearance. However, he had used some methods to maintain an appearance of no more than sixty.
As for Jon, if Anger hadn't mentioned that he was in his early fifties, Molo would have thought he was at least over a hundred.
"Is it a physical illness, a decline in bloodline, or a curse that accelerated the erosion of his body by time?"
The big trouble Anger mentioned earlier was that he hoped Molo could treat Jon, so Molo immediately began to think about Jon's condition.
When Jon approached, Molo's brow furrowed. A strange sense of dissonance emanated from Jon.
This feeling was similar to what he had experienced at the Crimson Auction, where he saw the interplanar slaves captured by wizards, who seemed out of place in this world.
Could this person be an interplanar visitor? Molo frowned.
However, it didn't seem quite right. He remembered reading in the academy library a book written by the Great Wizard Bazal, "The Pros and Cons of Planar Conquest," which clearly stated that while other planes had intelligent beings, no humans like them had ever been discovered.
Of course, there were many humanoid beings: those with three eyes, those with fish scales behind their ears, those as small as a palm, and those with wings on their backs. These beings, though human-like, were generally classified as humanoids.
"Could this person be a humanoid from another plane?" Molo guessed in his heart, but his face remained kind.
If he were truly an interplanar being, capturing him and selling him to a wizard would earn at least 10 magic crystals! Molo had struggled for so many years, and the magic crystals he had saved were not even 100.
Thinking of this, Molo's eyes narrowed to slits.
When Jon sat down, Molo cleared his throat and said, "I will first perform a disease detection on you. As long as we find the right direction, the treatment should not be a problem."
Without waiting for Jon and Anger to react, Molo summoned a crystal ball and began to chant.
Soon, pale green rings floated out of the crystal ball, slowly enveloping Jon's body.
Jon, surprised by the extraordinary sensation, gradually calmed down under the green rings, his face becoming rosy. Finally, he closed his eyes silently and fell into a deep sleep.
Everyone marveled at Molo's skills, thinking he was casting a healing spell. They did not know that the spell Molo cast was not the 1st-level cantrip "Detect Disease" he had mentioned, but a 2nd-level cantrip "Dispel Illusion" that a 2nd-level wizard apprentice could barely perform.
"Dispel Illusion" is an auxiliary cantrip that can see through illusions or deceptions. Although it is ostensibly a cantrip to dispel illusions, magic itself cannot be defined by a single phrase. For example, the "Oily Hands" cantrip is used to hinder movement, but with a slight change, it can also be used to aid combustion. Any magic has infinite possibilities; a wizard's pursuit of truth is the process of turning infinite possibilities into infinite certainties. "Dispel Illusion" is the same; with a slight change, the target can be shifted from oneself to another, revealing the other's race.
However, the prerequisite for this use is that the other party must actively cooperate with the spell. If the other party resists, the cantrip will fail. Molo used the pretext of helping to treat Jon, so Jon would not resist.
The green rings lasted for half a minute, first enveloping Jon's head and then slowly moving down to his feet, as if scanning. After everything was completed, the rings were reabsorbed into the crystal ball.
Molo's eyes flashed, and he silently focused his mental energy into the crystal ball to investigate the results of the "Dispel Illusion."
"Human? A 100% pure human?!"
Seeing this answer, Molo felt a sense of relief, but deep down, he still felt his intuition was correct. After thinking for a long time, Molo could not reach a conclusion and ultimately decided to trust the results of the "Dispel Illusion." As long as Jon was human, he was a fellow being, and there was no need to dwell on it too much.
Since Jon was not an interplanar being, Molo, with his mind at ease, began to fulfill his promise to Anger.
He continued to wave the crystal ball and silently constructed a new cantrip model with magic... This time, the cantrip model he constructed was truly "Detect Disease."
