As Li Nanjue looked at the bloodshot young lady on the bed, his head started aching.
Last night, he was drugged and entangled with several women. When he regained some consciousness, he struggled to leave but collapsed halfway through the night. When he woke up, this young girl in a white dress took care of him.
But, when he inhaled the scent of her perfume, the remaining drugs in his system flared up, which made him make a mistake.
The girl wiped her tears and hugged the blanket to cover her marked body. “Go away. I’m just unlucky. I was too greedy after recognizing you. I thought you’d tip me well if I took care of you. This is the punishment for my greed.”
Li Nanjue looked at her stubborn and difficult expression, and his heart became muddled. It was as if he encountered the Jiayin from his youth. Their demeanors were uncannily similar. His heart couldn’t help but soften. “What do you need to pay for? How much money do you need?”
A humiliated expression appeared on the girl’s face. “I won’t tarnish my pride by accepting that kind of money.”
Li Nanjue, who ordinarily didn’t treat women as anything special, heard this, and his heart was filled with pity. His voice unconsciously became gentle. “Sorry. I take that back. I wasn’t trying to disrespect you.”
“I know who you are. You have a wife and children. I won’t use this to blackmail you and destroy your family,” she said.
Li Nanjue remained silent. He didn’t know how he could compensate the young girl for causing her harm. In his heart, he hated the person who plotted against him and put him in this embarrassing situation even more.
He let out a deep sigh and pulled out his business card. “Use this if you need to contact me. If you need any help, call me.”
As long as it wasn’t too much, Li Nanjue would try to help her however possible.
The girl hung her head for a while before accepting the business card.
Relieved, Li Nanjue picked up the messy clothes beside him, dressed himself, and hurriedly left the room. Before he left, he glanced at the table, where the nameplate of a hotel attendant lay. It read ‘Lin Zhaoxi.’
Unconsciously, he memorized the name.
After leaving the room, he hesitated for a while but went to the front desk to inquire about Lin Zhaoxi. The receptionist seemed to treat him as someone who wanted to pursue Lin Zhaoxi. With a wave of his hand, he said, “Zhaoxi is only working temporarily for the summer. She came to earn money for her college tuition.
“You’ll die trying to pursue her. She’s so focused on her studies she won’t even glance at you.”
Li Nanjue felt even more guilty when he heard those words. Lin Zhaoxi was stronger and more independent than he imagined. But he ruined her life.
With Lin Zhaoxi on his mind, Li Nanjue returned home. But when he thought of the current family situation, his mood soured, and he couldn’t help but freeze. Because he left early and returned late, Jiayin frequently argued with him. The originally pleasant family atmosphere changed.

After not receiving any news about Li Qianxing, Li Qianfei became anxious.
When Li Qianfei heard her godfather, Gu Qian, returned to China, she rushed out the door.
She wasn’t sure if her other godfather, Uncle Tang, had heard any bad rumors, but he had blocked her phone number out of nowhere, making Li Qianfei anxiously stomp her feet. Unfortunately, the Tang family wasn’t any less powerful than the Li’s, so Li Qianfei could only endure her anger so as to not make an enemy out of him.
But when she arrived in front of the Gu family’s large house, the doorman stopped her.
Uncle Zhang, the once friendly and affectionate doorman, said with a smile, “Miss Li, Mister is not at home. You’d better go back.” In the past, Uncle Zhang would smile like a Buddha when he saw her and call her Miss Qianfei instead of the cold Miss Li.
The 180-degree flip caused Li Qianfei to panic, “I know Godfather is back. Let me go see him! Godfather knows I’m coming over. There’s no way he won’t see me.”
The doorman’s attitude remained unchanging, and he refused to let Li Qianfei inside.
Li Qianfei gritted her teeth and insisted, “If you don’t let me in, I’ll scream.”
The doorman hadn’t thought the elegant young miss would use such an underhanded tactic. He hesitated for a moment but finally contacted his boss through the intercom.
In the end, Li Qianfei was allowed entrance, but she wondered why Godfather’s attitude had changed so fast. When she visited him last time, he was fine, and Li Qianfei even gave him some of her luck.
When she saw Gu Qian sitting on the wheelchair, she couldn’t help but stare at him. Gu Qian’s pants were empty and shook with the wind.
What happened to Godfather’s legs?
“Godfather, what happened?” Li Qianfei asked worriedly.
Gu Qian lifted his head. His cold gaze penetrated Li Qianfei. “Do you have the nerve to ask? This is all thanks to you.”
