The next evening, Qi Feng changed into a full set of loose sports clothes, tidied up, and was ready to head out for his first yoga class. His roommates all expressed their envy, as they had already learned from Old He that the yoga club was full of girls, and Qi Feng was the first male to join.
"Why don't you guys sign up too?" Qi Feng said casually. "It would be nice not to be the only one in an unfamiliar place."
"No way, we're not going. Only you are so bold, directly challenging Yan Yufeng," they all shook their heads. "We don't have the confidence to do that."
Yan Yufeng was the soul of the school team. Without his command, any guy who tried to get close to the yoga club would immediately be met by a dozen or so two-meter-tall giants who would politely "advise" him to leave.
Qi Feng gave everyone a look that said, "I can't help you with that," and waved goodbye as he left.
Old He shook his head. "Speaking of which, Fengzi usually plays ball with us, and we're all about the same level. That block yesterday was amazing. Was it really Fengzi who did it? And it was against Yan Yufeng!"
Old Ji thought it was quite normal. "Fengzi has always had good jumping ability. He was probably frustrated after being blocked a few times and didn't know his opponent's reputation, so he must have exploded with anger. It's like he gets stronger when faced with a strong opponent."
Haozi smiled coldly. "Don't you think a lot of strange things have been happening lately?"
Everyone was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Haozi's voice sounded serious. "First, Fengzi was exercising in the dorm the night before, then the dorm building's main door was severely damaged, and then Fengzi rushed to class and said he was going to practice yoga, and then he single-handedly challenged the 'Little Kobe' Yan Yufeng..."
Haozi deliberately left a suspenseful pause, and Old Wu, pushing up his glasses, exclaimed, "Are you saying Fengzi has really achieved some divine power?"
Haozi shook his head smugly. "No! The truth is only one, and that is..."
Everyone asked eagerly, "What is it?"
Haozi stroked his chin. "It's... I've been reading too many web novels!"
"Tch!..." Everyone looked at him with disdain. The dorm leader, Old Feng, checked his phone. "Hey, it's almost seven. Let's go study, shall we?"
The others all lowered their heads, pretending to be busy with something, and didn't respond.
If it were any other day, Old Feng would have gone alone, but today he took on the air of a chairman, waving his hand. "Think about it, we've already started accumulating startup funds. Our 514 Economic Cooperative's goal is at least to go public. Now, you directors are only thinking about playing Dota tonight?"
Well, that was convincing. Everyone was convinced and went to the library to occupy seats for night study. Only Old Wu muttered, "Damn, why can Fengzi go see girls, and we have to study?"
The others all hit him on the head with their books. "Because he's the major shareholder! That's the reality of society."
On the other side, Qi Feng arrived at the East District Gymnasium. The evening class was quite large, taking up the entire indoor basketball court. Although Qi Feng knew the yoga club had many girls, he was still shocked when he entered. In a technical university, it was a rare sight to see a couple of hundred girls gathered in one place. The attention of over a hundred girls made Qi Feng, who was used to the masculine atmosphere of the campus, a bit overwhelmed.
"Qi Feng, right?" Just as Qi Feng was standing at the door, unsure which leg to step in with first, someone called him.
Qi Feng looked and saw a middle-aged uncle, taller than him, with a rather "broad" (not fat) build, clearly a physical education teacher. The appearance of the middle-aged uncle immediately made Qi Feng feel more relaxed. "Hello, teacher. I'm the new student, Qi Feng."
The uncle patted Qi Feng's shoulder hard, feeling the firmness, and nodded in satisfaction. "Good lad, let's start with a test."
Qi Feng followed him to a corner of the court, where there was a pole, about three to four meters high, with a small horizontal branch at the top that could be turned. This was to test jumping ability? Qi Feng had seen this equipment before.
The uncle first had Qi Feng stand straight and touch the pole, then checked the scale. "Hmm, two meters thirty. Not bad for your height. Come on, take a running start and see how high you can reach."
Although Qi Feng didn't understand why he had to test his reach before a yoga class, he still did it. He was also curious about his current jumping ability. He stepped back about ten steps, took a deep breath, gathered his strength, and sprinted, then jumped!
A figure seemed to completely defy gravity, flying up instantly. It was so fast that the tester thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.
Qi Feng landed, feeling that he might have overdone it. When he turned around, he saw the uncle staring in shock, muttering, "Three meters... three meters thirty-five!"
Three meters thirty-five? Qi Feng shook his head. This score would have made him ecstatic in the past, but now, as a martial arts expert with inner strength, this level was far from being able to walk on walls. A one-meter jump was still within the normal human range, so there was nothing to be happy about.
But the uncle seemed to have lost his mind, grabbing Qi Feng's arms and shaking them for a while.
Qi Feng also felt something was wrong and interrupted his madness. "Why do I have to take these tests? Does yoga require jumping?" He pointed to the girls who were already practicing, all sitting quietly, and it didn't seem like they needed to jump.
The uncle finally calmed down, fixed his hair, and held Qi Feng's hands. "I'm the coach of the school basketball team, my surname is Li. You can call me Coach Li or Coach Li."
"Uh? Basketball coach? I'm here for yoga." Qi Feng realized this was probably a result of yesterday's incident.
Coach Li was a bit unhappy. "Hey, why yoga! With your conditions, if you join the team, I guarantee you'll start after two months of training. With you and Yufeng, we have a good chance of breaking through the regional tournament!"
Coach Li, you're really talking to yourself, Qi Feng could only scratch his head. "I never said I wanted to join the school team."
"Hey, with your conditions, not joining the school team would be a waste!" Coach Li was very anxious. "Don't you like basketball?"
"I do like it, but I think it's better for me to practice yoga right now."
Coach Li looked at Qi Feng helplessly. Joining the school team was something no student could resist, and any student he had his eye on would be overjoyed to join, even as a regular substitute. This was the first time he had encountered someone like Qi Feng. Did he need to talk to the school leadership to convince him?
Coach Li glanced at the yoga club and then leaned in close to Qi Feng, lowering his voice. "Don't be so stubborn. Our school team is all guys, but our cheerleading squad is full of girls! Though not as many as here, they're all beauties!"
Qi Feng stared at Coach Li blankly, thinking that the uncle had lost all his dignity. Was it normal for a serious school basketball coach to recruit like this? And why did he assume Qi Feng was a pervert, just like Yan Yufeng? If the girls in the yoga club thought the same, Qi Feng felt he should just learn yoga off-campus to avoid ruining his reputation.
Qi Feng looked at Coach Li helplessly, almost on the verge of tears. "Coach! I really want to learn yoga. I just want to learn yoga purely. You have to believe me..." Qi Feng wished he could cut open his chest to prove his innocence.
Just as the two were at an impasse, Yan Yufeng entered and interrupted their stalemate. "Old Li, let him practice yoga first. It will be good for him."
Qi Feng felt much closer to Yan Yufeng, finally finding someone who understood. But before he could express his gratitude, Yan Yufeng continued, "After each yoga session, I'll have him practice with me. Once he's ready, we can let him join the school team."
Yan Yufeng seemed to have a high status in the team, and Coach Li was convinced by him in an instant. He patted both of their shoulders and left without another word.
Qi Feng was a bit unsure. Was Yan Yufeng really helping him, or was he looking for an opportunity to pay back the block he had given him?
Yan Yufeng turned to Qi Feng, still as cool and cocky as ever. "Practice well. Once you master coordination, you'll be a good opponent. By the way, after each class, I'll have a one-on-one with you, five rounds." He turned and left.
Although Yan Yufeng was a bit of a middle schooler, his insight was sharp. Qi Feng thought to himself that after just a few rounds, Yan Yufeng could see his main issues. And from his tone, it seemed he confirmed that yoga could help. Speaking of which, he seemed to know a lot about yoga. Could it be that the girl told him? Qi Feng looked over to where the class was being held and saw the girl with the ponytail acting as the instructor.
However, after being interrupted by the uncle and Yan Yufeng, Qi Feng had missed the start of the class. No one came to greet him, and he didn't know how to join in, so he found a place to sit on the outskirts, mimicking the girls' poses.
To be honest, this pose was a bit challenging, and most untrained guys might not be able to do it, but who was Qi Feng? He had already mastered the Dragon Elephant Bodhimanda Gong, which involved very twisted external movements. This level of difficulty was nothing to him.
So, without any guidance or correction, Qi Feng started practicing. Surprisingly, after maintaining the pose for a while, he really felt something! The qi and inner breath in his body began to slowly branch out into almost imperceptible streams, flowing along a wondrous path, nourishing his internal muscles and meridians. Yoga was indeed extraordinary! Of course, if Qi Feng hadn't achieved the first level of the Dragon Elephant Bodhimanda Gong and opened his inner vision, he would never have been able to sense such subtle changes. Qi Feng estimated that he might be the only one in the entire room who could feel this.
