After careful consideration, Luobi was now completely certain that the problem lay with the ash from the medicinal residue.

She had a plot of land at home where she grew crops to ensure a nutritious diet. Every year, Luobi would plant upland rice, and although the yield was extremely low, the results were generally normal. However, once she mixed in the ash from the medicinal residue, things changed. It would be strange if this wasn't due to the ash from the medicinal residue.

Knowing the cause, Luobi sighed. Even if the ash from the medicinal residue could nourish the soil and promote plant growth, it was too little to be of any use. Even when mixed with soil, there was only a small amount in the cardboard box. As the fruit seedlings grew, a single fruit tree couldn't develop properly.

Who has ever seen a large fruit tree growing in a small cardboard box? That's not realistic.

Thinking about it now was pointless. The first priority was to transplant the fruit seedlings from the cardboard box, which were already leaning and falling over. Who knows what they would look like after another half day?

Before transplanting, Luobi opened an umbrella and carefully examined the red fruit seedlings in the planting field. The young seedlings were still as big as when they were transplanted this morning, with wet leaves and branches swaying in the rain. After just one day, it was hard to tell if the roots were alive or dead.

The leaves hadn't wilted, and Luobi felt a bit helpless. Regardless of whether the transplanted fruit seedlings were alive or dead, the seedlings in the cardboard box had to be moved to the planting field. If they died due to insufficient nutrients, it would be a loss.

There was no shovel at home, but this didn't stump Luobi. She went to the kitchen and took a spatula, using one hand to hold the umbrella while digging holes. The rain was heavy, making a loud noise on the umbrella. Luobi struggled to dig the holes, not caring about the spacing, as long as it seemed about right.

Luobi was usually cautious and didn't dare to transplant all fourteen fruit seedlings. If the transplanted seedlings didn't grow well and died, she would at least have a backup. She initially planned to leave two, but after some thought, she decided to leave three, transplanting the other eleven to the planting field on the large balcony.

After doing all this, Luobi was exhausted. She dragged her heavy feet, took a shower, and fell asleep.

Feng Ling returned from the operations department and saw that Luobi was sleeping soundly. He decided to take a shower and join her in bed.

Luobi had already slept for a while and woke up when Feng Ling held her in his arms. She opened her eyes and said, "You're back."

Feng Ling kissed the corner of her mouth and said, "Mm, sleep a bit more."

Luobi closed her eyes but opened them again after a while. "I can't sleep."

Feng Ling looked at her, and Luobi hesitated before saying, "I heard that military families can apply for three acres of planting land. I want to apply for a plot."

Feng Ling had heard a few words when Luobi inquired from Pei Yu. Seeing her bring it up now, he said, "Nutritious crops are hard to grow, and farming is also very labor-intensive. Are you sure you can handle it?"

Luobi knew how tiring farming could be, and Feng Ling's question made her hesitate.

Feng Ling chuckled, "You're different from Yang Yu's wife. I can support you, and I'm willing to. You don't have to do those things."

There was a clear meaning behind his words, and Luobi looked up. "Yang Yu doesn't treat Pei Yu well?"

Feng Ling didn't want to say much about other people's affairs but explained, "It's not that he treats her badly. The difference in status and tastes can create rifts between a couple. Pei Yu spends all day doing farm work, and Yang Yu looks down on it, unwilling to continue."

"If he looks down on Pei Yu doing farm work, then he shouldn't let her do it. It would be better if he supported her." Luobi understood. Yang Yu was a promising captain, while Pei Yu spent all day tending to the planting field, not only looking unattractive but also lacking special skills. Yang Yu was clearly dissatisfied.
