After a three-month period of dormancy, the new book is finally out with great enthusiasm! I'm throwing flowers and clapping for myself!!!
I hope all the book friends will like it and give it strong support!
Old Bai thanks you all here!
Alright, I won't waste your precious time. Here's the main dish, I hope you enjoy it!
"Ouch... It hurts!!"
The young man, who was unconscious, subconsciously groaned.
His furrowed brows, the cold sweat all over his face, and the tense muscles all indicated that he was currently suffering from intense pain.
In fact, his mind was now in a state of utter chaos and confusion.
At one moment, he was "Xia Tian," a high-achieving student in the directing department at the Beijing Film Academy; the next, he was "Xia Tian," a stuntman under the Shaw Brothers Studio.
Two souls, two personalities, and two sets of memories were warring in his mind, vying for control of his body.
Each clash made his nerves taut, and his headache felt like his head was about to explode.
...
After an unknown amount of time, which felt like an eternity, this endless struggle finally began to subside.
The two souls, two personalities, and two sets of memories started to merge gradually.
...
"Did I travel through time?!"
Staring at the face in the mirror, which looked ten years younger, Xia Tian couldn't help but mutter to himself.
As a high-achieving student in the directing department of the Beijing Film Academy's 2004 class, he was no stranger to the term "time travel."
Web novels, TV series, and movies had already made the "time travel" genre extremely popular, as if not traveling through time was to be left behind.
He just never thought that he would also catch this wave of "time travel."
"Should I thank those rich kids? I never thought that one bottle would send me back to 1984 Hong Kong."
Xia Tian gently touched the bandage on his forehead and sneered with a hint of anger.
In his previous life, after graduating from the Beijing Film Academy, he had worked in dozens of film crews, wasting several years before finally securing funding to make a movie he loved.
Just as he was full of confidence and ready to make a name for himself in the film industry, he was knocked back thirty years to 1984 Hong Kong by a rich kid who was furious at his attempt to prevent a female lead from being forced into a sexual relationship.
Now, his identity was just a stuntman under the Shaw Brothers Studio, with his master being Tang Jia, the top martial arts choreographer at Shaw Brothers, and his father, Xia Shuliang, a famous director in the 1960s and 1970s who had directed over a dozen critically acclaimed films.
However, that was all old news. With the decline of the Shaw Brothers, his father's directorial career had also faded.
After directing his last film four years ago, which cost the Shaw Brothers 300,000 Hong Kong dollars, Xia Shuliang found himself with no more projects.
Although he wasn't fired out of respect for his past contributions, the fall from a "million-dollar director" to being ignored was a heavy blow to Xia Shuliang. Drinking and gambling became his primary outlets for frustration.
Losing nine out of ten times, he not only left his family penniless but also accumulated a significant debt.
Xia Tian, as a stuntman at the Shaw Brothers, earned 3,000 Hong Kong dollars a month, which was enough for the family's daily expenses. However, due to his father's gambling, this money wasn't even enough to cover the interest on the high-interest loans.
Thus, their life was extremely difficult.
However, as the saying goes, "A blessing in disguise."
Although he arrived in 1984 Hong Kong without any preparation and faced such a dire situation, Xia Tian did not feel fear or helplessness. Instead, he felt a surge of excitement.
He knew that this was the golden age of the Hong Kong film industry, and as a high-achieving student in the directing department of the Beijing Film Academy, he was incredibly lucky to be part of this rapid development.
Moreover, he had memories from thirty years in the future, which was an invaluable asset!
"The days of wielding power and enjoying the company of beautiful women are not far off!!"
Xia Tian clenched his fists, encouraging himself, his eyes sparkling with hope for the future.
...
Just as he was lost in his thoughts, he suddenly heard a series of urgent knocks on the door.
Then he heard someone shouting anxiously, "Brother Tian, open the door quickly, Ah Xue has been kidnapped!"
Xia Tian was taken aback, recognizing the voice.
After a moment's thought, he remembered that the person outside was his childhood friend, Chen Yixin.
Thinking of the "Ah Xue" mentioned, an image of a pure and lovely girl immediately came to mind.
It was his younger sister, Xia Xue!
They had grown up together, despite their unfortunate family circumstances—his mother had left, his father was a gambler, and they were living in poverty. However, their sibling bond had always been strong.
Hearing that she was in trouble, Xia Tian's eyes immediately turned red, his teeth grinding in anger.
He rushed to the door in three quick steps and yanked it open.
The force was so great that the doorknob came off in his hand.
...
The short, fat man outside was startled by the sudden opening of the door and the fierce momentum of Xia Tian, stepping back three steps before regaining his balance.
It was Xia Tian's good friend, Chen Yixin!
"Brother Tian..." he chuckled awkwardly, "Is your head okay?"
Xia Tian had accidentally been hit on the head during a fight scene the day before.
"I'm fine!" Xia Tian waved his hand, cutting to the chase, "Did you say Ah Xue was kidnapped?"
"Yes, by Big Tooth Bing! Brother Tian, we need to save her quickly!" Chen Yixin nodded, "You know he makes C-grade films. If Ah Xue is taken to shoot one of those..."
Hearing that his sister was taken by Big Tooth Bing, Xia Tian's face darkened.
Big Tooth Bing was a notorious figure in Tseun Wan, known as the king of underground C-grade films in Hong Kong.
C-grade films, the lowest-budget movies, had worse quality than DV self-shots, and were known for their violent and explicit content, often featuring nudity.
These films were not allowed in regular theaters but were popular in underground theaters and could be recorded and exported to Southeast Asia and Taiwan.
Thinking of his sister being stripped and forced to act in such a film, Xia Tian's anger boiled over. He wanted to rush to her side and save her immediately.
"Damn it!" Xia Tian grabbed a steel pipe from the door, "Let's go!"
The chubby Chen Yixin followed closely behind, wielding a baseball bat.
They had grown up on the Shaw Brothers set and were no strangers to fighting with street kids. Xia Tian was skilled in martial arts and fought fiercely, while Chen Yixin, though short, was cunning and enjoyed ambushing from behind.
Together, they had fought hundreds of battles and were known as the "Invincible Duo."
Now, to save his sister, they were ready to face any danger, no matter how perilous.
They arrived at the Wah Tat Studio, and as soon as the car stopped, Xia Tian impatiently opened the door and rushed in with the steel pipe.
Chen Yixin quickly paid the driver and followed with the baseball bat.
They charged through the crowd, reaching the set where Big Tooth Bing was filming.
The set was surrounded by a crowd, layer upon layer, all craning their necks to see inside.
"Hehe, I heard new goods arrived today, and it's a schoolgirl..."
"Such a pity, another innocent girl will be ruined by Big Tooth Bing!"
"If you can't bear to watch, give me your spot. Ha! You always say it's a pity, but you're always the first to watch."
...
Hearing the crowd's chatter, Xia Tian's anger surged. These perverts were actually watching his sister!
"Move, move..." he shouted, his face pale with rage, pushing his way through the crowd.
He was young, strong, and skilled in martial arts, and his urgency to save his sister made him push harder. In moments, the crowd was scattered, with several people falling to the ground.
Chen Yixin, hating the perverts, also used his feet and fists, causing screams of pain as they moved forward.
"Push your mother, go to the back of the line!" someone at the front shouted, unable to stand the pushing.
"Go to hell!" Xia Tian, already furious, punched the man, sending him flying.
The man was about to shout but was thrown to the back by Xia Tian.
Chen Yixin, in perfect sync, hit him on the head with the baseball bat, knocking him out cold.
The crowd, though angry at being pushed, saw their strength and brutality and dared not curse, only glaring at them with hatred.
Xia Tian, ignoring them, rushed inside with the steel pipe.
"Stop, don't push! If you want a clear view, buy a ticket later!" a punk with dyed yellow hair and an earring stepped forward, blocking their way.
Xia Tian knew he wasn't a good guy and, as he was maintaining order, was likely involved in his sister's kidnapping.
Thinking of this, Xia Tian's anger flared, and he pushed the punk to the ground, then rushed into the set.
Chen Yixin followed, stepping on the punk's body as he passed, causing him to roll in pain.
"This is a raid!" someone shouted.
"True, these young men are fearless, daring to raid Big Tooth Bing's set. They're asking for death!"
"Last time, Old Yee's Thunder Tiger and his gang tried to take over the Youhua Theater, and he lost a hand. These young men are truly ignorant of the danger!"
The crowd murmured, not expecting them to succeed.
...
The commotion at the entrance caught the attention inside the set.
"Hey, we have two 'Furious Men of Chaozhou' here! Ah Hua, take some men and deal with them," a man with prominent buck teeth said, his eyes gleaming with a cold smile.
Immediately, seven or eight men stepped forward.
"Who are you? How dare you come here? Do you know whose territory this is?" a pale-faced man stepped forward, shouting.
Xia Tian ignored him, as he had spotted his sister.
In a corner of the set, Xia Xue was surrounded by three men.
Two of them were holding her arms, while the third was trying to undress her.
Xia Xue, ashamed and terrified, struggled, but her hands were restrained, and her efforts were futile.
"Please, no, please don't..." she pleaded, tears streaming down her face.
"Enough, stop dreaming. Just be obedient. All women have to go through this eventually," the man said coldly, unbuttoning her clothes, "If you blame anyone, blame your father. Who else would you owe money to but Brother Bing?"
Seeing his coldness, Xia Xue felt hopeless. Thinking of the humiliation she would face, she decided to die. Closing her eyes, tears silently rolled down her cheeks.
The man, seeing her resignation, smiled wickedly and reached for her chest.
Suddenly, a loud voice shouted, "Stop!"
Xia Xue's eyes snapped open, and she saw her brother, "Brother!!" Her eyes regained their light.
"Brother, save me!" she cried out.
"Brother? Ha, even the Governor can't save you..." the man sneered, but before he could finish, a gust of wind hit him, followed by a whistling sound.
With a dull thud, a thick steel pipe hit his arm, crippling his hand.
Xia Tian then kicked him, sending him sprawling, his head hitting the ground and knocking him out.
The two men holding Xia Xue, seeing Xia Tian's ferocity, tried to retreat but were met with two swift slaps from Xia Tian, knocking them out.
Xia Xue, freed, rushed into her brother's arms, "Brother, you came, if you were any later, you wouldn't have seen me..." she sobbed.
"Don't worry, with me here, no one can hurt you," Xia Tian said firmly, his expression serious. The bond of blood made him feel her pain, and he would not let her suffer again.
"Let's go, Brother will take you home!" he said, taking her hand.
Chen Yixin, wielding the baseball bat, stood guard on the other side, and the three of them walked out of the set.
"Boy, you're really bold! Do you think you can just walk out of here? If I let you go, how will I maintain my reputation in the underworld?" the man with the buck teeth blocked their way, looking at Xia Tian with a cold smile.
