Chapter 27

6 min read1,586 words

Yesterday, the results of the baby's examination gave me a shock. I had just returned home when my wife's hysterical crying call summoned me back to the hospital.

The results were too terrifying, leaving me so shaken that I couldn't even write, let alone update. Please bear with me.

......

Night, the New Mexico wilderness...

"Jane, you can't keep doing this." After looking up at the sky for a while and seeing nothing, Erik Selvig turned to his companion, who was also standing by the car, and said.

"No, the first seventeen predictions were precise to the second." Jane Foster, who had pulled herself back into the car through the sunroof, flipped through some documents and operated her computer as she spoke.

"Jane, you're an astrophysicist, not a storm-chasing lunatic." Erik Selvig, sitting beside her, continued to persuade her.

"I'm telling you, these atmospheric disturbances are related to my research." Jane Foster, who was constantly operating her computer, continued, "Erik, if I wasn't 100% sure, I wouldn't have asked you to fly over here."

She said that, but the reality still left Jane Foster with a face full of disappointment.

"Jane! I think you should see this." Darcy Lewis, who was both a graduate student and the driver, quickly said when she noticed an anomaly in the rearview mirror.

At the same time, the previously calm night sky had, at some point, displayed a strange, ripple-like phenomenon, emitting a mysterious and enchanting glow.

"What is that!" Jane Foster, who was feeling somewhat disappointed, quickly climbed out of the sunroof to look at the distant sky.

Erik Selvig, sitting in the car, was also stunned by the strange sight and, after climbing out of the sunroof, said, "You mean it's not a wonderful aurora?"

Completely absorbed by the strange phenomenon, Jane Foster, after finally regaining her senses, slapped the roof of the car and shouted, "Drive!"

Darcy Lewis, receiving her teacher's command, started the car without a word and quickly headed toward the area where the anomaly was located.

The poor road conditions in the wilderness, combined with the high speed, made the three of them feel like they were on a roller coaster.

Just as their car was getting closer to the area of the anomaly, a thick column of smoke suddenly descended from the sky, right in the center of the anomaly, and with a loud roar, it spun and struck the ground not far away.

Darcy Lewis, completely stunned by the scene, instinctively turned the steering wheel, intending to drive the car away from this obviously dangerous area.

"What are you doing!" Jane Foster, who was holding an instrument and monitoring the strange phenomenon, said angrily.

"I'm not going to die for six credits at school!" Darcy Lewis, who was determined to stay away from this strange place, shouted back.

Just as the two were fighting over the steering wheel, accompanied by lightning and thunder, a dazzling seven-colored light suddenly appeared from within the smoke column, followed by intense blue lightning that covered the area where the smoke column was.

Almost as soon as the light faded, a tall figure staggered out of the smoke column.

"Ah!!"

Faced with this sudden appearance, Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis, who had been fighting over the steering wheel, crashed straight into it and screamed in unison.

At that moment, a car suddenly burst out from the other side of the smoke column, first knocking the staggering figure flying, then "bang!" colliding with the car driven by Jane Foster and the others.

"Damn it! What the hell is going on?"

Seeing her research seemingly yield unexpected results, but then suddenly being involved in a car accident, Jane Foster was quite agitated.

Before Darcy Lewis could speak to prove her innocence, the three in the car all blacked out and lost consciousness.

When the two cars finally came to a stop, a white man dressed as an astronomy enthusiast quickly got out of the offending vehicle.

"Oh my God, for the love of God, please don't let anyone be dead!"

The handsome blonde white man, looking at the accident scene with a panicked face, took out his phone and started calling.

About half an hour later, an ambulance and a police car arrived at the accident site.

The cause of the accident was simple: a car crash caused by a unique astronomical phenomenon.

The four people in the car were unconscious due to the collision, and the offender was an astronomy enthusiast from out of town.

Although it was difficult to determine the exact circumstances at the time, as the only conscious person, the blonde white man took full responsibility and covered all the costs.

Since the four victims were still unconscious, all the results would have to wait until they woke up.

The astronomy enthusiast from out of town also stayed in the hospital for examination to ensure he had no internal injuries from the accident.

Once the matter was temporarily settled, the ward quickly returned to peace, at least from the outside.

"Where am I? What happened?" Jane Foster, waking up from a deep sleep, looked around the ward and asked in confusion.

A few minutes later, after learning the general details from the medical staff, Jane Foster quickly found Erik Selvig and Darcy Lewis, who had also just woken up, in the adjacent ward, as well as the man she didn't recognize.

At the same time, the blonde white man also came out of the ward.

"I'm very sorry about what happened last night."

The blonde white man, dressed in a hospital gown, immediately caught the attention of Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis as soon as he appeared.

There was no helping it; his appearance was simply too handsome, especially the apologetic smile on his face and the unique aura that was intangible yet easily felt, which made the two women stare in amazement.

Although the four had been unconscious for the entire night, their physical examination results showed no problems.

On the contrary, due to the long deep sleep, Jane Foster and the others were in better spirits than ever.

Combined with the blonde white man's good looks and sincere attitude, the whole incident was quickly downplayed.

As for the unknown man, he caused a commotion in the hospital as soon as he woke up.

It took a lot of security guards and a large dose of sedatives to finally restore "quiet."

Given his mental state and the suspicion that he was a member of a cult, plus the fact that the blonde white man had left his contact information, the matter was temporarily left to the authorities.

When Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis, and the others left the hospital, they had already become as familiar as old friends.

"I'm very sorry, Jane, for damaging your car. I'm glad you're all okay." The blonde white man, who introduced himself as Angel, said apologetically.

"Oh, it's not your fault, Angel. It was all because of that strange celestial phenomenon." Jane Foster, blushing slightly, quickly said.

"Here's my business card. If you have time tonight, I'd like to buy you all a drink as an apology." Angel, handing over a gold-embossed business card, said sincerely.

"No problem, I agree." Darcy Lewis, standing beside her, took the card and said, taking charge.

"Jane!" Jane Foster said reproachfully.

"Then I'll see you tonight." Angel smiled at the three and said.

"I can't guarantee I'll have time tonight." Jane Foster, torn between the handsome man and her research, said.

"Regardless, I'll wait for your call." Angel said, then turned and left with a casual wave.

Watching the handsome man's departing back, Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis were still in a daze.

Finally, Erik Selvig, unable to bear it, made a few jokes to bring the two back to their senses.

After leaving the hospital, Angel got into a taxi and returned to his temporary residence. Walking into the bedroom, he activated a device and stood in front of a full-length glass mirror.

With a wicked smile, the blonde white man in the mirror quickly transformed into a young Asian man, Liu Rui'an.

"The ability to transform is indeed quite useful. It may not have much power, but when used well, it's more effective than most weapons."

"Especially when combined with mind control, the effect is extraordinary."

"Unfortunately, my progress in telekinesis seems to have hit a bottleneck, but it's enough for now."

After recovering his original appearance, or rather, another disguise, Liu Rui'an turned his attention to the silver refrigerated sealed box lying on the bed.

After correctly entering a 256-digit password, the refrigerated sealed box, which showed no seams from the outside, slid open with a "hiss."

Inside the box were three large test tubes, filled with dark red blood.

"This is the true blood of the gods, right?" Liu Rui'an, holding one of the test tubes and playing with it in his hand, smiled to himself.

"Unfortunately, the gods in this world are fundamentally different from the gods in legends. At the very least, the Asgardian Aesir are just a highly advanced civilization, slightly superior to humans."

"However, obtaining the blood of a pseudo-god is a significant achievement. I wonder if my previous arrangements and the force field generator can fool Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard."

Thinking of this, Liu Rui'an couldn't help but look up at the ceiling of the bedroom, his eyes seemingly gazing into the vast, mysterious universe.
