"Humanity must establish a new type of thinking if it wishes to continue to survive and evolve to a higher level!"
"Albert Einstein said this over fifty years ago."
"Today, these words are more fitting than ever."
"Intelligent machines will soon enable us to overcome humanity's most challenging problems, not just curing diseases, but also ending poverty and hunger."
"Ultimately, saving this planet and building a better future for us all."
Watching the lead actress, Evelyn Castor, standing on stage in a red dress, Liu Rui'an, sitting among the audience, had to admit that the actress was indeed very suitable for the role of a female scholar.
Speaking of Evelyn Castor, she was actually an acquaintance of Liu Rui'an. Rebecca Hall played Maya Hansen in "Iron Man 3," and the molecular formula and related data for the 'Extremis' virus came from her.
Unlike Maya Hansen in "Iron Man 3," the character of Evelyn Castor played by Rebecca Hall in this world, whether in terms of personality or appearance, was much better.
Unfortunately, both characters ultimately met tragic ends.
In "Iron Man 3," Maya Hansen was shot dead by her partner to save Tony Stark, while this Evelyn Castor lost her lover and, due to a group of selfish people's "paranoid delusions," ended up killing herself and her husband who had just been "reborn."
While Liu Rui'an was lost in thought, Evelyn Castor's speech on artificial intelligence was quickly coming to an end.
"I don't know if there is anyone in this world, besides the next speaker, who is more dedicated to making this future a reality."
"But I suspect it's just my narrow view."
"Next, please welcome my partner in work and life, Dr. Will Caster."
Amidst a warm round of applause, a young man with a somewhat disheveled appearance walked onto the stage and took the microphone.
Dr. Will Caster, the main target of Liu Rui'an's穿越 plan.
Or, to be more precise, he was currently just a "half-finished" product.
"Thank you very much." Dr. Will Caster, holding the microphone, greeted the audience, who filled the seats, and then got straight to the point:
"My wife always wants to change the world, but I only seek to understand it first."
"For 130,000 years, our cognitive abilities have not changed."
"The combined wisdom of all the neuroscientists, engineers, mathematicians, and computer hackers in this room cannot match the most basic artificial intelligence."
"Once a machine with perception is connected to the internet, it will quickly overcome biological limitations."
"In a very short time, its analytical capabilities will surpass the sum of the intelligence of all historical populations."
"Now imagine such an entity, possessing all human emotions, even self-awareness."
"Some scientists call this the 'Singularity,' while I call it the 'Transcendent.'"
"Building such a superintelligence requires us to decipher the most fundamental secrets of the universe."
"What is the essence of consciousness? Does the soul exist?"
"If it does, where does the soul reside?"
As Dr. Will Caster's words echoed through the hall, the atmosphere gradually became more solemn.
"Dr. Will Caster." Suddenly, a middle-aged man stood up in the audience.
"Yes, sir, do you have a question?" Dr. Will Caster asked, looking at him.
"Are you trying to create God? Your own God?" The middle-aged man stared straight at him.
"That's a very good question." Dr. Will Caster remained calm in the face of this sharp question and quickly countered:
"Hasn't humanity always been creating God?"
Liu Rui'an actually quite agreed with Dr. Will Caster's viewpoint.
It's not surprising; from the evolution of primitive humans to the present day, humans have been creating one miracle after another.
And these miracles, in the past, were absolutely things only a god could do.
Unfortunately, there have always been some radical thinkers and those brainwashed and incited by people with ulterior motives, such as the anti-technology extremists in this world.
After the speech, Dr. Will Caster left the venue with his wife and a good friend.
On the way, many audience members and fans who agreed with Dr. Will Caster's views approached with pens and paper to ask for autographs.
Although Dr. Will Caster was a pure tech geek, he felt secretly pleased by this.
As his friend Max Waters muttered behind him, "Look at him, pretending he's not enjoying it."
However, Dr. Will Caster never expected that after signing a few autographs, he would no longer face the enthusiasm and support of his fans, but a gun barrel.
"Bang!" The sound of a gunshot, and Dr. Will Caster, who had just been secretly pleased by signing autographs, fell to the ground.
Strangely, the shooter, who clearly looked abnormal, had no intention of fleeing.
After confirming that his shot had hit the target, he immediately shot himself on the spot.
Two consecutive gunshots immediately plunged the previously harmonious floor into chaos.
Liu Rui'an, dressed in a casual suit, focused his gaze on a brown-haired woman who remained calm, or more accurately, cold, in the chaotic crowd.
Liu Rui'an had no intention of stopping the injury to the lead character, Dr. Will Caster.
There was no way; it wasn't that he was cold-blooded, but without taking this bullet, his purpose for this穿越 would not be achieved.
Seeing the plot unfold as it did originally, Liu Rui'an, standing in an inconspicuous corner, disappeared with a "Biu~."
When he reappeared, he was already in Earth's orbit in the "Transcendence" world, aboard a starship that looked like a large bird.
If a player of the space sandbox game "EVE" were present, they would recognize that someone had lazily copied the Amarr Redeemer-class command ship.
"Starling, how is the network infiltration going in this world?" Liu Rui'an, who had teleported directly to the bridge, asked as he sat in the main control chair.
"Already infiltrated ninety percent of the network resources, my master." Starling, projecting a sweet little girl image, was now dressed in a cute maid outfit.
"OK, proceed according to the plan." Liu Rui'an nodded and instructed.
As the command was executed by Starling, holographic screens representing various project plans quickly appeared before him.
The most noticeable among these screens was a series of bank accounts for the Umbrella Technology Corporation, more specifically, the rapidly growing huge sums of money in those accounts.
This wholly-owned company, established less than twenty-four hours ago, had already earned substantial profits through various channels in global financial trading centers.
Though at this point, money was just a number to Liu Rui'an.
In a sense, a billion dollars in the account was less meaningful than a rich mine.
With a large amount of funds and Starling, who was a "god" in the network world, the Umbrella Technology Corporation quickly became a large, albeit low-profile, group company.
Seeing that the company didn't need his attention, Liu Rui'an decided to take a break before the plot developed to the point he wanted.
Unfortunately, good times always pass quickly. Before Liu Rui'an could tour various parts of China to ease his homesickness, Starling sent him a message.
The fatal injury to Dr. Will Caster was not the external wound caused by the bullet, but the radiation poisoning from the polonium isotope on the bullet.
For the people in this world, radiation poisoning was more terrifying than cancer, with no hope of a cure, and the only option was to wait to die.
Of course, such a fatal illness was no problem for Liu Rui'an.
Not to mention that the treatment platform in "Elysium" could originally cure radiation diseases, and after further development and improvement by Starling, its functions were even more powerful.
Unfortunately, Liu Rui'an had no intention of helping, at least not under the current circumstances.
Since learning of his radiation poisoning, Dr. Will Caster's will had naturally become quite depressed and dejected.
"I can't understand, they fear technology because it threatens humanity," Dr. Will Caster, sitting in a chair in his living room and looking quite unwell, said to his seated friend:
"But they kill without hesitation, clearly their logic is not good."
"However, it is not without irony."
Faced with this sarcastic remark, his partner and friend, Max Waters, could only say:
"People fear what they do not understand, it has always been so."
Just as Dr. Will Caster was about to change the subject, a strange voice suddenly sounded from the doorway:
"Is that so? I don't think so."
"If fear is their reason for killing without hesitation, how did humanity develop to this point?"
"Did all the sages who made significant contributions to human evolution get it wrong?"
Subconsciously following the direction of the voice, Dr. Will Caster and Max Waters found that an impeccably dressed, obviously wealthy young Asian man was standing at the entrance of the door.
