As the saying goes, plans can never keep up with changes.
Just as Liu Rui'an was ready to start the second phase of his穿越 plan, SHIELD suddenly sent an extremely urgent message.
After receiving the message and reading its contents, Liu Rui'an clearly understood what it meant.
He immediately put aside his second phase plan, instructed the Starling about some matters, then changed into the identity of Imperius and donned the Angel's armor before heading to Earth.
On the other side, Nick Fury, who almost got shot by his own subordinate, finally looked a bit better after receiving the reply forwarded from the Venus base.
"Boss, what did they say?" Phil Coulson, dressed in SHIELD uniform, asked.
"Liu can't come, but the Angel Baron will come to help," Nick Fury, wearing his signature black trench coat, replied.
"That's good news," Phil Coulson said, well aware of the person's strength.
"The playboy is your responsibility, and I've already sent Natasha to Banner," Nick Fury said as he walked down from the main control console of the helicarrier.
"Oh, that's bad news," Phil Coulson said, well aware of the playboy's character.
"Don't worry, after I visit Captain, you'll have to entertain him," Nick Fury said, knowing how much his subordinate admired Captain America.
"Alright, that's good news," Phil Coulson said, shrugging his shoulders, and then couldn't help but ask:
"Boss, does the Seer have any comments on this incident?"
"No," Nick Fury shook his head and said with a serious expression, "But from his reaction, I think we're in big trouble this time."
Indeed, it's a big problem. The Cosmic Cube being taken by someone, or rather, a god, is one thing.
But even some of SHIELD's subordinates being easily brainwashed by the other side means a lot, and both Nick Fury and Phil Coulson were very clear about this.
Knowing the gravity of the situation, the two didn't waste any more time and got busy with the task of recruiting superheroes.
Though the recruitment process was somewhat "complicated," the outcome was still quite good.
Leaving aside the easiest one, Captain America Steve Rogers, the most dangerous one, Bruce Banner, was surprisingly recruited quite smoothly.
The only one who encountered some "trouble" was Phil Coulson's target, Tony Stark, Iron Man.
Fortunately, despite the trouble, Phil Coulson ultimately completed his task, at least it seemed that way.
As the Quinjet landed on the helicarrier's deck, Phil Coulson, who had achieved his goal, soon walked down with Captain America Steve Rogers.
"Agent Romanoff, this is Captain Rogers," Phil Coulson introduced, looking at his fiery colleague with a hint of envy in his eyes.
It was impossible not to envy. Though Black Widow was still Black Widow, the Natasha Romanoff in front of him gave a sense of being reborn.
The changes in height, body shape, and skin color were just on the surface. For Phil Coulson, who knew her well, he understood what these changes truly represented.
For Steve Rogers, who was meeting her for the first time, the feeling wasn't as obvious.
But even so, he still sensed a potential threat from this beautiful woman who had everything—looks, figure, and presence.
Unlike others, Steve Rogers, who had fought Hydra countless times during World War II, knew very well what his intuition meant.
"Lady," Steve Rogers greeted, suppressing his doubts and caution.
"Hi!" Natasha Romanoff nodded at the veteran American hero and then said to Phil Coulson:
"The bridge is looking for you; they've started facial recognition tracking."
"See you later."
Phil Coulson, aware of the gravity of the situation, greeted the Captain and hurried to the bridge.
Taking the lead, Natasha Romanoff said as they walked:
"Finding you in the ice caused quite a stir. I thought Coulson would faint from excitement."
"Did he ask you to sign his Captain America trading card?"
"Trading card?" Steve Rogers asked, surprised, having never thought there would be trading cards of himself.
"Rare and collectible, he's very proud of it," Natasha Romanoff explained, her gaze quickly falling on another Avenger she had just "invited."
In the other person's line of sight, Dr. Bruce Banner, dressed in a cheap suit, was somewhat awkwardly making way for the staff on the deck.
"Dr. Banner," Steve Rogers, who had read about him on the way, extended his hand.
"Hi, I heard you were coming," Bruce Banner said, shaking his hand, knowing who he was.
"Did you hear about the Cosmic Cube?" Steve Rogers asked.
"Didn't you hear anything else?" Bruce Banner asked, somewhat self-deprecatingly.
"I only care about what I'm focused on," Steve Rogers answered, understanding the meaning behind the words.
It was the first time Bruce Banner had heard such a response from someone he had just met and who knew his past. For a moment, his feelings were a bit complicated.
Fortunately, he also knew how serious the situation was, quickly composed himself, and changed the subject:
"Must seem pretty strange to you, right?"
"To be honest, it feels pretty familiar," Steve Rogers said, looking at the military atmosphere around him.
"Gentlemen, you'd better go inside; it'll be hard to breathe here soon," Natasha Romanoff, dressed appropriately, reminded them.
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the busy deck suddenly sounded an alarm:
"Flight crew, clear the deck."
At the same time, the helicarrier, floating on the sea, began to emit a loud mechanical and engine noise.
Steve Rogers, a living antique, couldn't help but guess:
"Is this a submarine?"
Imagining himself in a submarine, Bruce Banner said somewhat mockingly:
"Are they going to keep me in a pressurized metal can underwater?"
It wasn't until the two reached the edge of the deck that they realized their guess was completely wrong, or rather, the opposite. It wasn't a submarine but a "plane."
"No, no, this is worse," Bruce Banner said, shaking his head as he realized the ship he was on was actually a "spaceship."
At the same time, four massive engines extended from the helicarrier's interior.
Powered by the strong engines, the huge helicarrier quickly took off with a loud engine roar.
"Let's disappear!" Nick Fury ordered as his flagship lifted off, standing in front of the bridge's main control console.
"Activate the reflectors."
"Reflectors activated."
As the orders were carried out, the massive helicarrier quickly "disappeared" in a flash of light.
Led by Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner soon appeared in the bridge area.
"Thank you for coming, Dr. Banner," Nick Fury, taking ten dollars from Captain America, extended his hand to Bruce Banner.
"Thank you for the polite invitation," Bruce Banner said, shaking his hand and looking at him:
"How long will I be here?"
"I'll let you go as soon as we get the Cosmic Cube," Nick Fury, who had already reached the level of lying without changing his expression, replied.
"How's the progress?" Bruce Banner asked, nodding noncommittally.
Nick Fury, not responsible for the specific work, pointed to his subordinate standing at the control console.
"We've scanned all wireless-readable cameras, phones, and laptops worldwide," Phil Coulson, responsible for this task, reported:
"Any device connected to a satellite is our eyes."
Looking at the image of Hawkeye on the screen, Natasha Romanoff, squatting in the corridor, said with a serious expression:
"Even with this, it's still too late."
"You need to narrow down the search area," Bruce Banner asked, taking off his suit jacket: "How many spectrometers can you mobilize?"
"As many as you need," Nick Fury, the director of SHIELD, replied confidently.
"Contact all the labs you can find and have them place the spectrometers on their rooftops, calibrated to search for gamma rays," Bruce Banner said, holding his suit jacket:
"I'll draft a tracking algorithm based on clustering to at least rule out some areas."
"Finally, can you find me a place to work?"
"Agent Romanoff, can you take Dr. Banner to his lab?" Nick Fury nodded and said.
Suppressing his worry for Hawkeye, he walked past Dr. Bruce Banner and said:
"It's fully equipped, guaranteed to satisfy you, Dr. Banner."
Just then, a SHIELD technician in the bridge shouted:
"Attention! Unknown object detected!"
"Adjust the image—"
Before Nick Fury could finish his sentence, a figure suddenly appeared in front of the bridge's window with a "Biu~."
"Hello everyone, can I come in?" Liu Rui'an, no, Imperius Angel, knocked on the window and asked with a "polite" smile.
