“Xu Shaoyan, happy birthday.” Several female classmates walked in together and placed their respective gifts on Xu Shaoyan’s table.

“Thank you.” Xu Shaoyan smiled and thanked.

“Happy birthday, here’s a present for you.” Another boy walked in and placed the gift on his desk.

“Thanks.”

“Happy birthday Xu Shaoyan.”

“Thanks.”

After the last incident, although Xu Shaoyan’s bad reputation had spread, he wasn’t affected much in the class, as these students had all received benefits from him. And they were more than willing to believe that Xu Shaoyan was a good person, judging from their normal relationship.

On every student’s birthday, Xu Shaoyan would give them a gift, so today on his birthday, the other students also gave him gifts back. He really enjoyed the feeling of being accepted by everyone.

”What did your boyfriend get you today?” The girl sitting behind Xu Shaoyan asked in a low voice and the other students looked at him, waiting for his answer. The class hadn’t started yet, so they couldn’t help but gossip a bit.

“He didn’t say as he was going to give me a surprise.” Xu Shaoyan said with a smile.

Liu Xiujie had asked him what gift he wanted but he said he wanted Lu Xiujie to surprise him, so Liu Xiujie made the arrangements himself.

“What do you think the gift would be?” One girl held her face in her hands and said, “Surely there’s a candlelight dinner or something? It’s so romantic to think about.”

“Be sure to tell us tomorrow what he surprised you with.” The other girl said.

Xu Shaoyan just looked at them, smiling.

Tao Yuan stayed out of it, staring at the scenery outside the window out of boredom.

After class, when the teacher left the classroom, the students packed up their things and left the classroom one after another.

There was a sudden commotion outside. Some female students ran back and stood in front of the classroom, saying excitedly under the pressure of their voices,”Shaoyan, come and see quickly.”

Xu Shaoyan was stunned, showing an excited expression. He didn’t even take the painting box and immediately walked out quickly.

Xu Shaoyan stood in the corridor and looked down, seeing a rose scented cart parked by the flower bed below.

The so-called rose scented cart was filled with perfumed roses and a small rotating fountain. It was a very extravagant and luxurious way to deliver flowers.

“Look, look, there’s a rose-scented cart! Alas, how beautiful!”

“How romantic! Who is this for?”

“It’s really a rose scented carriage ugh, I’ve only seen it on TV! I’ve heard it’s so expensive, but I can actually see it in real life!”

“I’ve only seen it before when celebrities and rich people proposed, did someone propose?”

“Who is it? Who is it? Why didn’t they show up yet?”

The students who had finished their classes, once they saw the rose scented carriage, all stopped walking and stood around a short distance away, waiting to see who would actually sign for the ultra-luxurious rose scented cart.

“Shaoyan, is this the surprise from your boyfriend?” The female student looked at Xu Shaoyan excitedly.

“This, I guess so.”Xu Shaoyan couldn’t control the corners of his mouth. Today was his birthday, Liu Xiujie had promised to surprise him again, and no one had even gone to sign for it yet, so there should be no mistake that it was given to him.

“Then hurry up and sign for it and give me a bouquet of roses from the top, will you?” The female student grabbed Xu Shaoyan’s arm and pleaded.

“I’ll go down and sign for it first.” Xu Shaoyan quickly walked down the stairs.

Xu Shaoyan went downstairs and looked at the rose fragrance cart that was right in front of him, feeling that it was even more beautiful and luxurious up close. The cart was in the shape of a European carriage with at least a few hundred roses on it. The cart was made of metal and it looked like it was plated with gold. There’s also a luxurious rotating fountain up there that sprayed water, even people from far away can smell the nice rose scent.

Most of the students at Dongjing University were children of wealthy families, as the tuition is very expensive and it is difficult for families of modest means to afford it. But even these children with families rarely have the opportunity to see a rose-scented carriage, because it’s not something you can carelessly spend money on.

The roses on the rose cart not only carried an attractive sweet smell, but also had a golden pattern. This variety of rose was difficult to cultivate and only grows in very limited quantities each year. It is said that this rose was expensive because of its scarcity.

With excitement, Xu Shaoyan walked step by step towards the couriers. Although Liu Xiujie had promised to surprise him, he didn’t expect him to be so generous. Even if he was trying to make Du Qingyu jealous, his happy mood was not discouraged at all by this.

“Hello.” Xu Shaoyan walked up to a courier.

The courier looked at his face, “Can I help you, classmate?”

“I’m here to sign for the Rose Scented cart.” Xu Shaoyan said.

Those students saw him going to sign for the Rose Fragrance Carriage and discussed it excitedly.

“Is that him? Is the rose scented carriage for him?”

“I think it’s him, why else would he walk off to ask for a signature.”

“Ah, ah, ah! So envious!”

“I’m in the same class as him, he has a birthday today. His boyfriend said that he wanted to surprise him meaning the rose scented car is definitely for him.”

The sounds of admiration and envy emitted from around her made Xu Shaoyan’s pride swell.

“Are you classmate Du Qingyu?” The dispatcher thought to himself, why does it look different from the photo, then looked down at the photo in his hand.

Hearing the three words Du Qingyu, Xu Shaoyan immediately stiffened, not knowing how to react at all.

“Excuse me classmate, you don’t seem to be Du Qingyu, do you?” The courier carefully cross-referenced the photo on the file and found it to be completely different from the person in front of him, ” this rose scented cart must be signed by the person in this file.”

Seeing Xu Shaoyan standing rigidly motionless as if frozen, the courier shook his hand in front of his eyes, “Classmate?”

Tao Yuan slowly gathered his things and walked out of the classroom, jogging downstairs, expressionless the entire time.

Another courier next to him who had been paying attention to the stairway patted his companion on the shoulder and said, “The one who’s coming down the stairs over there, that should be Du Qingyu, so hurry over and confirm it.”

The courier bypassed Xu Shaoyan and walked up to Tao Yuan and asked, “May I ask if you are fellow student Du Qingyu?”

Tao Yuan raised his eyes to the person in front of him and asked with a blank expression, “Is something wrong?”

“We’re couriers from Rose International, and here’s a rose scented cart for you, please sign for it.”

The courier turned sideways, only then did Tao Yuan see the rose-scented car not far away, visually quite striking. He asked in confusion.

“Who is this from?”

“There’s also a bouquet of gold roses over there with a card on it, so you’ll know who it’s from when you read it.” The courier said.

Tao Yuan bit his lip, feeling a little worried, what if it wasn’t the person he was thinking of? He was getting a lot more rich fans lately, all trying to get close to him in order to buy his paintings.

Tao Yuan still decided to go see who sent it, so he walked over and gave Xu Shaoyan a confused glance as he passed by him, wondering what he was doing standing so upright.

Tao Yuan received the golden rose which was quite heavy in his hand, took off the card on top and opened it. Seeing that it was Wei Shicheng’s name, he couldn’t help but reveal a smile.

Putting the card away in his backpack, he saw that there was a love poem on it, so he was eager to go back and read it again. Tao Yuan continued with a straight face and said,

“Where do I sign?”

“Just sign this tablet and this manifest.” The courier said.

“So it’s for him, how lucky indeed that someone gave him a rose scented car.”

“What’s that guy up ahead running over there for? It’s not like it’s for him, it’s too awkward for him to be standing there.”

“It’s really embarrassing, I thought it was for him.”

“Who’s that guy? What makes you think it’s for him?”

“It’s Xu Shaoyan from Class 2. My friend said it is his birthday today and bought him a present. I guess he thought his boyfriend surprised him with it.”

“It’s too humiliating, just walking over to sign for it, and it wasn’t even for him.”

“If it were me, I’d love to be swallowed by a hole in the ground.”

“Can’t you see where he’s already stiffened up? It must have been a shock.”

“Shaoyan.” Liu Xiujie came over with a bouquet of roses, he had been waiting at the entrance of the Chinese Painting Department for a while now, but he hadn’t seen any students heading out, so he came in with his doubts to see what was going on.

Seeing a luxurious rose scented cart, he was very surprised to see Xu Shaoyan standing there. He was thinking if Xu Shaoyan had asked his father to prepare it for him.

Xu Shaoyan turned around and saw Liu Xiujie holding the bouquet of roses in his hand, not only was he not happy at all, he also had a complex emotion of wanting to cry.

“This is …….” Liu Xiujie walked in with the rose to ask if the rose scented cart was from his father, just in time to see Tao Yuan who had signed then turned around, he too froze.

Tao Yuan held the rose made of gold, looked at the two of them, and also instantly understood why Xu Shaoyan was standing here. He must have thought that the rose scented cart was a gift from Liu Xiujie, so he ran to sign for it and ended up being seen as a joke by the whole department.

Tao Yuan ignored them and said to the couriers, “Can you guys send this home for me?”

Tao Yuan definitely couldn’t take it home by himself. With something so big and heavy, he couldn’t even push it around.

“Yes, we can.” The courier said “We can put them in the flower beds for you too. The guy who ordered them said he rented all the flower beds in your department. From now on, we’ll have to deliver one every day for ten days, surely you won’t be able to put that many in your home, so we can help you put them all in the flower beds.”

Tao Yuan’s mouth couldn’t help but curl up again, thinking that he was really thoughtful. Even if he took such a big thing home, it would take up too much space and he was afraid that the whole living room would be filled.

“Then please put it in the flower bed. You’ve worked hard.” Tao Yuan held the golden rose and prepared to leave. As he passed by Xu Shaoyan and Liu Xiujie, deliberately stopping in his tracks, he looked at the rose in Liu Xiujie’s hand and laughed mockingly. He turned around then walked in the direction of the gate of the Chinese Painting Department.

Tao Yuan returned home with the golden rose in his arms, expecting Wei Shicheng to call him, but he ate dinner and drew for a while before he showered and went to bed alone. Eventually, he fell asleep without hearing anything from him.

The next day, Tao Yuan went to school and again signed for the rose scented carriage and a bouquet of golden roses.

For ten consecutive days, the couriers who handed out the fragrant roses showed up on time, and the number of onlookers grew, not only from his departments, but also from his other department who had come specifically to watch. All of the flower beds in the Chinese Painting Department were filled. Such a big effort made all the onlookers envious of the student, many of whom even came specifically to take pictures.

Everyone knew that the rose scented carriage was given to Tao Yuan, but they didn’t know who gave it to him, so they were very curious as to who was so generous.

As long as Tao Yuan walked on campus, all the people who passed by him would look at him with envy and jealousy and other kinds of looks.

Xu Shaoyan’s heart cringed as he watched Tao Yuan walk into the classroom. Now whenever he saw Tao Yuan, he would think of the humiliating events of that day. It had been ten days and he couldn’t even hold his head up at school, always feeling like someone was laughing at him.

That day Liu Xiujie came to pick him up with roses, and even stood at the entrance of the department to wait, it was originally a very romantic thing if not for the appearance of the rose scented cart. The otherwise pretty bouquet of roses was as ugly as a wildflower that had been trampled in the grass by the side of the road.

The two of them feltdowncast and embarrassedly left afterwards, though they still followed Liu Xiujie’s original plan and went to the restaurant that had been set up for dinner. But through the whole process, none of them could lift the mood. So they ate their food in silence but the delicious food tasted like wax.

The two of them were thinking about the same thing: why did Tao Yuan receive the Rose Scented Cart, and who on earth was giving it away so generously.

On the tenth day, Tao Yuan returned home still holding the golden rose, but had not received even a call from Wei Shicheng.

After taking a bath, Tao Yuan laid on the bed then tossed and turned, having difficulty falling asleep.

Sitting up and turning the light on, he looked at the time and saw that it was already one o’clock in the morning. Tao Yuan thought to himself, since I can’t sleep, you won’t either.

He took off his underwear, pulled a corner of the blanket over his belly, then straightened one leg while keeping his other leg slightly bent, and took a picture of his lower body with his phone before finally sending it to Wei Shicheng.

Immediately after Tao Yuan sent the photo, he turned off his phone and went to bed, sleeping better than he had in days.

And right now, in a luxury car parked underneath the building where Tao Yuan lived, someone received a message and clicked on it. Not even a moment later, his blood flowed downwards, having the urge to burst.

Looking at those temptingly beautiful legs, he thought to himself that this little villain really knew how to torment him, he definitely would be even more unable to fall asleep tonight.
