Wang Yue took a deep breath and, after a moment's thought, saw that no one was around. He extended his hand and summoned the sword within his body. After absorbing the mental energy of the two people, it was indeed this sword that had caused it. In the midst of the green light enveloping the sword, a faint, flowing, light green glow could be seen, clearly brighter than before. Wang Yue was increasingly convinced of his earlier thoughts.
He took a deep breath, focused his mind on the sword, and gradually his consciousness began to blur. Suddenly, his vision brightened, and he found himself in a familiar space. Of course, this was not a physical teleportation; the difference in sensation was merely the result of his consciousness penetrating matter. Here, Wang Yue existed only as a consciousness, while his physical body remained outside in the alley.
The space was not large, similar in size to a living room, surrounded by a misty haze. The only visible object was a large hexagonal crystal pillar in the center, emitting a comfortable golden light that grew brighter and softer as one approached. Layers of light rotated around the crystal, forming spiral light bands in the air, dotted like a galaxy.
Looking up, one could see a deep darkness, with a lotus flower extending twelve green petals. The outer edges of the two outermost petals were faintly illuminated, crystal clear, like jade carvings.
This was the internal space of the sword. During the long time Wang Yue's consciousness had been in and out of sleep, he had always been here. The sword was like the most advanced spacecraft, and he was the only passenger inside. Although he still did not know the origin of this thing, after a long time together, they had become as one. After this incident, he naturally knew that when all the petals of the green lotus were lit, a certain ability of the sword could be activated.
The interior of the sword was like the inside of a warship, and it was now dormant only because the energy had been depleted. If energy could be gradually replenished, the original functions of the sword would reappear, ultimately bringing him enormous, unimaginable benefits.
However, the sword was not controlled by intelligence. Each time his consciousness entered, it consumed a certain amount of mental energy. If the standard for this energy were based on the total mental energy of a normal adult, then each of the twelve petals would require a significantly greater amount of mental energy than the previous one. The amount of mental energy required to activate the last petal would be astronomical.
Even Wang Yue himself did not dare to think about the exact amount...
In the end, it was all about the conservation of energy. Mental energy did not arise out of nowhere; you had to pay a price for what you wanted to gain.
In the space, the crystal emitted a warm light, shining on Wang Yue, making him feel the sword's mysterious and unfathomable nature even more. Unfortunately, the mental energy of the two people was not enough to cause any substantial changes in the space. The next moment, Wang Yue's consciousness was forcibly expelled by a powerful repelling force, returning to his body.
"Since it's like this, you damned people can all go to hell!"
Unable to dispel the anger in his heart, Wang Yue stood in place and suddenly smiled coldly. He wiped the blood from the dagger on the dead body, tucked it into his belt, and then walked straight out of the alley, heading for the nearby Wildfire Bar, which was brightly lit.
Wang Yue had never been afraid of killing, but he was not a mass murderer. Destroying a life required a justifiable reason, much like a war between nations. A war without any reason was naked aggression, but with a righteous cause, one stood on the moral high ground. After sorting out the cause and effect of the events, he found that these people had nothing to do with the death of his body. Even if their actions were detestable, they did not have any substantial conflict with Wang Yue. He could kill them or not. But now, with this excuse and the involvement of his own interests, the people at the Wildfire Bar had to die.
After all, they were just a bunch of people who did not treat others as human beings. Killing them would not only provide him with energy but also allow him to vent his anger. The resulting troubles would be a natural consequence, and since that was the case, why not do it?
The Wildfire Bar was noisy and lively at night. In this era, people's minds were open, and various social trends swept through an entire generation of young people. Even in a small city like York, hedonism still prevailed. Fashion-conscious people never refused to go to a bar after work to have a drink, chat, and occasionally engage in a one-night "passion" with someone they found attractive, without even knowing each other's names.
Just as there is darkness where there is light, in the places not illuminated by the neon lights, the back of the Wildfire Bar presented a completely different scene. The stone walls, used for housing decades ago, were corroded by time,斑驳 and dilapidated, long since losing their original color.
Everyone in York knew that before this commercial street was built, this place was the city's only cinema. However, after Salon-Jasb came to the city about ten years ago, it became his stronghold.
No one knew where he came from. In the early years, he was just a film projectionist at the cinema. But soon, with the turmoil of a political election, Salon-Jasb gathered a group of thugs and, through bribery, bought the cinema. Over ten years, he eventually expanded his influence to cover most of York.
Although he was no longer as powerful as before and was worth millions, Salon-Jasb was clearly a nostalgic person. Even today, when he had time, he would often return to this place. The Wildfire Bar was bustling with people, but during the renovation, the underground part of the original cinema remained largely unchanged. This place held a memory from his youth...
This was the only forbidden area of the entire bar. As long as Salon was there, no one dared to enter the underground space.
Just like today, Salon was in the underground chamber, and all his thugs were in the bar above.
Wang Yue had no regard for the law, whether in the Federation or in present-day York. If he decided to act, he would not hesitate.
Standing in the dirty alley, he listened to the noise on the street gradually fade away. It was almost midnight. After returning from Old Tom's alley, Wang Yue had waited for over two hours at the back door of the Wildfire Bar.
The dim street lamp cast a long, thin shadow on him, like a ghoul that had just crawled out of hell.
He had built his strength through mental training, had a background in the Federation army, and had developed telekinetic abilities, eventually becoming the leader of the Wansha star system, the most wanted and highly rewarded "pirate" in the history of the Federation. He certainly would not act rashly like a brute.
Even with the urge to kill, he would not let his thoughts sway him. When he decided to act, he would do it without hesitation.
The street was lively, and acting rashly would only alert the enemy and attract police interference, which would be troublesome for him.
Moreover, he knew some of Salon-Jasb's background. Anyone who could thrive in the underworld would certainly have armed subordinates. Without his former mental powers, he could only rely on this not-so-strong body and some basic combat skills he had learned from the Federation army.
Therefore, he did not plan to charge in recklessly but waited patiently for the right moment.
The entire backyard was filled with dirty water. Except for a yellow light bulb above the door, most of the alley was pitch black. It was fitting that something big was about to happen today. Who would have thought that someone would dare to target Salon-Jasb?
Using a rusty wire, he easily picked the lock of the back gate, threw the lock on the ground, and left the chain. As he walked in, he wrapped the chain around his left hand and forearm. His steps were small, his neck and back naturally flexing, and in the darkness, he moved like a big cat that had spotted its prey, silent and stealthy.
The Wildfire Bar covered a large area, and although this part of the backyard was usually deserted, he knew it was not completely unguarded. At least the large hunting dog wandering in front of him had definitely seen blood.
Especially this creature, with its keen sense of smell and hearing far surpassing that of humans, would be easily alarmed by the slightest movement in the dark. A normal person could not get close at all.
