"Quick, he’s having another episode, prepare the sedative."
Huang Yuan shouted urgently, hoping to use the treatment of Wang Haiquan to break the deadlock that Zhang Jue had exposed.
"Stop!"
Zhang Jue suddenly shouted, frowning and said, "What’s the point of a sedative? Administering medication without a proper diagnosis, how do you call yourself a doctor?"
Being questioned in front of the patient's family and subordinates, Huang Yuan was furious and immediately retorted, "You act like you know a lot about medicine. Isn’t it just reading people and knowing a bit of psychology? Pretending to be an expert, do you think I need your amateur advice on how to treat patients?"
Although Zhang Jue had exposed his secret, which was a bit terrifying, Huang Yuan still believed he was a charlatan and quite despicable, though he couldn’t pinpoint why.
The other doctors in the room felt a bit relieved, thinking to themselves: So this guy used psychology to figure out Huang Yuan’s nightmares. What a scare, I thought he could really see spirits. Turns out he’s just a fraud.
Indeed, the situation was too bizarre, and no one dared to believe it. The more they believed, the more afraid they became. So, whenever there was an excuse, they would definitely try to undermine Zhang Jue’s mystique.
"We doctors need to consider the patient’s well-being. It’s best if this gentleman doesn’t interfere."
"Who will take responsibility if something goes wrong?"
"There’s no better treatment than a sedative right now."
"I’ve known all along that this guy is a charlatan, a fraud. I suggest we drive him out. If he delays the patient’s treatment, who will be held responsible?"
"..." As Huang Yuan spoke, the doctors chimed in. Huang Yuan was the hospital director, their direct superior, so they naturally had to support him.
Even if Zhang Panshi’s influence was great, at most she could scold them a bit. They could bear it. But if they went against Huang Yuan, their future would be tough.
Zhang Jue knew that with these people opposing him, he couldn’t proceed. Wang Haiquan couldn’t afford any delay; Zhang Jue had already said he had only three days left, at most.
With no choice, he turned back and looked at Zhang Panshi.
Zhang Panshi’s face turned ashen, and she shouted angrily, "Huang Yuan, you always use sedatives. Can’t you try something new? If not, please don’t interfere. Step aside and let Mr. Zhang treat him."
These words were heavy, and Huang Yuan was speechless. He stood aside, muttering to himself, "I’m not interfering? Fine, I won’t. Let this guy do it. If he kills the patient, it’s his fault!"
Zhang Jue ignored everyone and, after a moment’s thought, walked to the bedside. He touched Wang Haiquan’s head and understood something:
"Go find me a large bowl and a mirror."
The doctors stood there, sneering. Who do you think you are, ordering us around?
Seeing the doctors’ inaction, Zhang Panshi shouted, "Do as I say! What are you standing there for?"
The doctors hesitated, and one of them reluctantly went to fetch the items Zhang Jue requested.
Huang Yuan watched Zhang Jue with a cold smile and mocked, "What are you going to do? A bowl and a mirror? Are you going to eat while looking in the mirror?"
"Ha ha..."
The doctors chuckled, but seeing Zhang Panshi’s expression, they quickly stopped.
Zhang Jue, seemingly oblivious to Huang Yuan’s sarcasm, simply said, "I’m going to treat him."
Huang Yuan sneered, "Treat him with a bowl and a mirror? I’ve never heard of such a thing."
"Your knowledge is limited."
Huang Yuan snorted, "My knowledge is limited? I’ve been the director of the central hospital for..."
Zhang Jue interrupted, "So what? You haven’t diagnosed the cause in over a month. Does that have anything to do with how long you’ve been a director?"
"I... hum, you’re unreasonable. Then tell me what the cause is?"
Huang Yuan, like a duck with its throat pinched, quickly changed the subject.
Zhang Jue laughed and ignored him, taking the bowl and mirror to the windowsill. He placed the mirror down and covered it with the bowl.
This unusual action left everyone puzzled, unsure why he was doing this.
Zhang Jue took out a needle and walked back to Wang Haiquan.
Wang Haiquan’s eyes were open, but he seemed unaware of Zhang Jue, still talking to the air in an incomprehensible language. This strange illness made the doctors uneasy, not because of ghosts or spirits, but because the atmosphere was too eerie.
Zhang Jue, undaunted by Wang Haiquan’s bizarre behavior, smiled gently and said, "Are you afraid of pain?"
"#$%$#"
Wang Haiquan’s speech didn’t pause, as if he hadn’t heard.
The doctors found it amusing to see Zhang Jue talking to an unconscious Wang Haiquan, but they couldn’t laugh, feeling a strange fear.
Without warning, Zhang Jue pinched the needle with his right thumb and index finger and plunged it into Wang Haiquan’s forehead.
Silently, the needle pierced the center of Wang Haiquan’s forehead, breaking the skin and even penetrating the skull.
Everyone gasped, seeing the needle almost halfway in, and no longer underestimated Zhang Jue.
How thin was the needle? How hard was the bone? Yet, he could pierce the skull with just a needle, showing exceptional control and skill, something few could achieve.
Huang Yuan was shocked. The needle had clearly penetrated the bone. This was unacceptable. If you kill someone in the central hospital, I can’t escape responsibility. I’ve never heard of acupuncture needles piercing bones.
Just as he was about to speak, Zhang Panshi gave him a stern look.
Huang Yuan shrugged, thinking, If the family isn’t worried, I don’t need to worry either. Go ahead, kill him if you want. The family has already agreed.
At that moment, Zhang Jue flicked the needle, causing it to vibrate. Wang Haiquan, who was unconscious, began to tremble, his face turning pale, and sweat pouring down.
Despite the changes, his incoherent muttering didn’t stop; it became more intense, turning into a shout, then a maniacal laugh:
"Ha ha ha ha."
The laughter echoed in the room, sending chills up everyone’s spines. It was too eerie.
When the needle stopped vibrating, Zhang Jue pulled it out. Blood immediately seeped from the puncture on Wang Haiquan’s forehead.
Zhang Jue wiped the blood with his finger, stopping the bleeding and leaving a drop on his fingertip.
He flicked his finger, and the blood droplet flew and hit the bowl on the windowsill.
Everyone was amazed. Flicking a blood droplet so accurately onto the bowl showed exceptional skill. This guy might even be skilled in hidden weapons.
As the blood droplet hit the bowl, Wang Haiquan’s muttering stopped. He sat on the bed, staring blankly at the air, completely silent.
Zhang Jue patted Wang Haiquan’s shoulder and said with a smile, "Some things should be let go. Go on, find yourself."
After speaking, Zhang Jue stepped back, hands behind his back, and watched Wang Haiquan.
The room was silent. Everyone looked at Zhang Jue, then at Wang Haiquan.
Something strange happened. The unconscious Wang Haiquan got out of bed, barefoot, eyes open but vacant, and slowly walked to the bowl on the windowsill.
Everyone’s eyes widened in shock, holding their breath, amazed by this bizarre scene. Why did Wang Haiquan not respond to others but follow Zhang Jue’s words?
Zhang Panshi’s eyes were full of hope. She watched her husband’s back, her fists tightly clenched.
Wang Haiquan approached the windowsill, staring intently at the bowl, and slowly lifted it with a trembling hand.
"Ah!"
The moment the bowl was lifted, Wang Haiquan let out a piercing scream and fell straight to the ground. Under the bowl was a mirror.
All the doctors, including Huang Yuan and Zhang Panshi, were drenched in cold sweat, their eyes still wide with fear.
In that instant, they clearly heard two voices screaming, one of which was Wang Haiquan’s.
