Seeing that it was already late, Su Zhe took the baby out to eat. Anxin would start working officially from the next day.
On the way home, Su Zhe stopped by the supermarket to buy some things. He bought nuts, walnuts, and almonds. These were all prepared as food for the blue-and-gold macaws, which he had found online were the macaws' favorite foods. He had originally wanted to buy palm fruits, as wild blue-and-gold macaws loved them the most, but unfortunately, he couldn't find them in the supermarket.
When they got home, the baby saw the two blue-and-gold macaws and started chasing them non-stop. Su Zhe had been in the room all day and hadn't brought the macaws out, while the baby had been watching TV and playing with the sulcata tortoise outside, never entering the room, so she hadn't seen the macaws.
Finally, with no place to go, the blue-and-gold macaws perched on Su Zhe's shoulders, one on each side. The baby looked at Su Zhe's shoulders with longing: "Is this what big brother is going to sell?" The baby was very smart and immediately figured it out. Su Zhe nodded to confirm.
"Can the baby play with the birds? What are their names?" The baby looked at the blue-and-gold macaws with her big, watery eyes.
"Of course the baby can play with them. They are called Little Blue and Little Purple. The baby will be their teacher and teach them to talk," Su Zhe said, patting the baby's head and smiling. Su Zhe also handed the food he had bought for the blue-and-gold macaws to the baby and said, "If they answer correctly, the baby can give them food. If they answer incorrectly, they get nothing. Understand?"
"Understand, the baby is the teacher, the baby is the teacher." Hearing Su Zhe call her the teacher, the baby clapped her hands and jumped up, excitedly shouting.
Su Zhe placed the blue-and-gold macaws in front of the baby. With Su Zhe's command, the macaws didn't resist the baby and didn't fight back when she touched their heads. Thus, Su Zhe entrusted the two blue-and-gold macaws to the baby. Since teaching the macaws to talk involved constant conversation, he decided to let the baby handle it.
He left the blue-and-gold macaws with the baby and went into the room. In the room, he sometimes heard the baby's voice: "The baby is your teacher now, quickly call the teacher. Those who call the teacher will get food." He also heard the macaws' babbling.
Su Zhe opened the auction website. There was still half an hour before the auction ended, and the price for each pair of golden-headed box turtles had already been bid up to 600,000.
This price satisfied Su Zhe, as it had already exceeded his ideal price. However, he continued the auction, hoping for an even higher price. He browsed the comments while waiting for the auction to end.
However, the price remained unchanged throughout the process, leading Su Zhe to believe it was the highest price. Unexpectedly, in the last five minutes, the price started to rise rapidly. It increased by 1,000 each time, and in just three minutes, the price had risen to 700,000 for a pair.
After that, each bid increased by 10,000. Su Zhe kept refreshing the auction website, and the price would jump with each refresh. In the last five seconds, the price was set at 950,000.
When he refreshed again, the auction had ended. Su Zhe thought the final price was 950,000. The auction website's backend sent two messages, confirming the successful transaction and the auction price. Su Zhe opened the messages, thinking he had read them wrong. The final auction price was 1,000,000, and both pairs of golden-headed box turtles were sold for 1,000,000 each.
He opened the bidding record for the golden-headed box turtles and found that after 950,000, there were two more bids: one at 980,000 and the final one at 1,000,000. Both pairs of golden-headed box turtles were bought by the same person.
This final price surprised Su Zhe. He thought selling four golden-headed box turtles for 1,000,000 was already good, but it turned out to be twice as much. At this moment, Su Zhe's phone rang, and it was an unknown number.
"Hello, I'm the buyer who just won the auction for the golden-headed box turtles. I've already filled in my address. When can you arrange to send them to me?" It was the buyer of Su Zhe's golden-headed box turtles, and the voice on the phone was deep and steady.
"Tomorrow, I'll take the golden-headed box turtles to get a quarantine certificate and then send them to you by air." Su Zhe understood the auction website's rules, so he wasn't surprised that the buyer knew his phone number. Each successful bidder could know the seller's contact information after paying.
Su Zhe opened the auction website and noted down the address the buyer had left. He understood the buyer's eagerness to receive the items, especially something they liked. Su Zhe also wanted to send them as soon as possible.
He looked up the animal quarantine department in Yan Yun City online to get the quarantine certificate for the golden-headed box turtles the next day. After noting down the route, he turned off his computer.
In the living room, the baby was sitting on the sofa, and the two blue-and-gold macaws were on the table in front of her. The baby was teaching them in a very serious manner. Every time the baby asked a question, the blue-and-gold macaws would spread one wing and raise it high, as if a student raising their hand to answer a question.
The baby would randomly choose one of the blue-and-gold macaws to answer, and before answering, the macaw would call the baby "teacher" and then give the answer.
Su Zhe found it amusing and didn't expect the baby to teach them so well, even better than he could.
The baby saw Su Zhe and ran to him, pointing at him and asking, "What's big brother's name?"
One blue-and-gold macaw answered, "Teacher brother." The other blue-and-gold macaw hit it with its wing and said, "Stupid, it's Su Zhe brother."
Then the baby pointed at the sulcata tortoise and asked, and this time both blue-and-gold macaws answered in unison, "Big dumb turtle."
The baby kept pointing at the furniture in the house to test the blue-and-gold macaws, and to her surprise, they answered everything correctly. Su Zhe praised the baby, and her little face turned red with joy.
Next, Su Zhe personally tested the blue-and-gold macaws. Their intelligence exceeded Su Zhe's expectations. They could answer most of the questions Su Zhe asked, and the baby had even taught them simple arithmetic, such as addition and subtraction within 100, which the macaws could solve.
The baby had also taught them a few children's songs, and although the macaws could only sing a few lines of each song, it was still amazing, considering they had only been learning for a few hours.
In the end, Su Zhe concluded that the intelligence of the blue-and-gold macaws was comparable to that of a three-year-old child.
